[Highlights] 2013 LeBron athleticism
Lebron letting the ball handler get to the basket just to block the shit out of him is my favorite
Swear if someone not named LeBron was doing this they’d have instantly become DPOY.
LeBron should have won DPOY that season. He somehow managed to have voter’s fatigue against him for an award he never won.
Psychological warfare
Him jumping over Lucas is the best.
Taller shot blockers do that in general. They’re just waiting for the guard to attempt the shot because they know they can block it. A lot of guards don’t attempt it and just dribble through.
yeah lebron’s wingspan makes that block possible
Don’t ever let anyone tell you different - there has never been a better athlete in NBA history. That motherfucker was doing that shit at like 270 pounds at his heaviest in Miami. An absolute freight train.
And then to have one of the quickest first steps off the dribble we’ve seen at that size? Just insane.
The call,
LeBron James with no regard for human life
Will live in my head rent free forever lol
Still wild to me that we say Bron is a model citizen. When we had modern cameras capture how he brutally murdered Terry right on the court in front of tens of thousands, and Bron walked away unbothered.
Jokes aside, remember that Bron was and is so good, for so long, that he played through several generation of memes and himself created probably dozens of memes and legendary calls.
Per that report: “Some Heat teammates saw the scale and attest to it in amazement. James himself just shrugs and calls it ‘weird as hell.’ The truly wild part is that it was from 271 pounds to 278 pounds, though James is much lighter these days.”
doubt the scale was working properly for 278 but it does confirm the 270. crazy how he was able to move like that at that size. i doubt he was showing us his 100% jump height in Cleveland

He might be the greatest athlete in the history of the human race imo. Who else can be this explosive and strong for 20+ years?
Dunno. You might be right. It’s the total package that’s crazy. Bo Jackson is definitely in the running though.
This is my LeBron take. Schmucks will say it’s some other dude because he batted 25 blorps in 4-week test cricket but LeBron could exceed in any sport where height isn’t a major disadvantage if he had taken that route. I wish we could’ve had like 10 Lebrons to train for 10 different sports and watch that mf dominate. I can’t fathom there’s been a more athletic human to touch the ground
It’s also very rare to see players that sky for the dunk also make the same leaping efforts to make huge blocks like he did. Shit was crazy
Just terrifying
Miami Bron was a scary beast
That version of LeBron felt inevitable. It really felt like he was just playing with opposing teams that season. He could get to the rim at any time he wanted to and no defense could stop him.
Death Star LeBron.
What’s crazy is that even last year he would have moments where he looked like that LeBron.
Early in the season AR threw him a lob which looked impossibly high…and this old mf went up and dunked it from like top of the glass
That might even be the one im talking about!
Yeah, its incredible that hes even got an argument for top 5/best player in the world on any given night, and hes 41.
You still see the 2 foot jump vert sometimes where you’re like wtf is that.
It’s even more impressive now that he’s slower. Just raw core strength and legs
Right you can tell he can still get there, just differently and nearly 15 years later…insane.
He’s much smarter now too
DPOY too. I know Gasol won it
Cuz of freaking Zach Lowe and like the media felt someone had to be rewarded from the grit & grind Grizzlies instead of Tony Allen
Yeah im still upset Bron didn’t win it that year. He was locking people down and not committing fouls.
Just a perfect “athlete” could play any sport with enough training it felt like
would be a monstrous TE
He would kick ass at Chess Boxing, Pickleball, Rugby, but he’d probably struggle with Darts, Skeleton, and Diving.
He’d be a monster at League of Legends
He’d be a Jarvan main
Or a Brand throwing LeFuck You fireballs
He would be a piss poor gymnast tbh
Terrible horse jockey for sure
Could you imagine him playing hockey? Lol
legitimately guarding 1-5 was the realization for me
the thing that people are going to forget is how the crazy plays werent occasional career highlights, they were EVERY SINGLE NIGHT.
Just one season of athletic plays made a damned near 7 minute highlight reel with quick cuts and no replays. This is more than most HoFs would have in their career.
And hes done this for more seasons than anyone else ever.
This is why highlights don’t do GOATs justice.
Every game was a highlight reel. Kobe, MJ, 2016 Curry for sure…the highlight videos don’t even do them justice.
If anything, highlight reels somehow make the GOATs more boring.
Most fun I’ve ever had watching sports.
Not the point but seeing Ty Lawson in a highlight led to me realizing that both Ty Lawson and David Lee somehow came in 12th in MVP voting in 2013
Denver was awesome that first few years after being held hostage by Melo
Those all white Heat jerseys were sexy.
I loved the all black from 2011-12, LBJ jumped over Lucas with those
I miss this sense of anticipation every time I remember it. Realizing there was even a semi-transition opportunity now in progress for the early 10s Heat was its own feeling.
Prime Bron just a freak athlete
Shit don’t make no sense
The one with Chris Bosh at the top of the key with the side camera is just comical. He passes the ball to Bosh as he’s like crossing half court, he’s out of frame for less than 2 seconds and he’s catching Bosh’s lob
He didnt shoot well on jumpers because why shoot jumper when closer better.
Why do jump when can fly
keep in mind he even regressed here from 2009
He was a bit faster and springier in 2009, but 2013 LeBron was an absolute tank. I think 2013 is his athletic peak.
He was also much more complete skill-wise in 2013. He was infamously clowned before then for not being a post-threat at that size, got exposed in the 2011 finals and then became insanely good in the post after working with Hakeem.
Way stronger here.
Nobody compares
The only analog i can think of is Adrian Peterson
The splitter block is jaw-dropping
it’s crazy that he played at that size and weight and lost…nothing.
The best version of LeBron. I know 2017-18 is highly regarded but 2012-13 he was at his peak in basically everything.
Somehow never won dpoy
I’m not ready for the fuckery to end! I want LeBron to stay in the league for another 10 years at least!
this shit is a blast from the past Jason Kidd, Monta Ellis, Raymone Sessions, kirk heinrich, dudes about to play against boozers son
Man that first clip perfect play calling
Heat Bron through the Cavs title is one of the single greatest stretches I’ve ever witnessed. Man was on another level.
As great as 2013 Lebron is, still think 2009 is his peak athleticism
2009 Bron was raw athleticism. By 2013 he was a polished product. I don’t think we’ve seen anyone as athletic as Bron since 09
My friend is making weird “Balco” sounds while he was watching this with me. I am not sure what he is trying to insinuate.
I remember watching the lob over Jason Terry live and when Norris Cole threw the lob it felt like time slowed down and I said “that’s a bad pass, too high for Bron to finish” and then he banged it and I just stared at the tv.
2013?
Half this sub wasn’t even born yet
That block against splitter should’ve been the 2k cover that year.
jeez.. and they didnt even include the time lebron jumped over john lucas III.
hes the only player i can think of who you need to tell “get back on offense” lmao
2013 Bron > 2018 Bron
The craziest thing about this, is that his critics at the time said he lost his athleticism.
Is dunking and staring down on 6ft Jason Terry some kind of flex. I would never understand that even under the context of 2011 choke job.
