the on/off numbers tell the full story — Celtics were +9.2 per 100 with both on the floor vs +4.1 with just one. they elevated each other but it also shows how deep that team was. the two-man game was elite (+8.7 net rating last 3 seasons) but the spacing ceiling was always the open question 📊

If we do believe this statement to be true, I don’t mind stars not knowing about trades. Imagine coming up with a direction for the team, pitching it to your star player, and he says no. If the GM completes the trade anyway after that, would JT say the office went against him? Feels like Stevens couldn’t have done right based on Tatum’s logic here.

Media trying their best to turn this into some feud, Celtics office is scrambling after this monumental fuck up. That video they put out today about the trade had about 5 different excuses and at the end said none of them were the reason. Absolute dumbfuckery.

I don’t buy it for one fact. Dude was widely known to be offered for Giannis. Once that didn’t go down, you decided to put your head in the sand JT? Idk, that kinda thing would  spur me to hit up my gm/former coach to find out what that was all about. Maybe ask JB the same. So to be shocked that he eventually got traded….na.

Edit: Take back all this skepticism if the context was him feeling this way at the time of the Giannis sweepstakes.

If that’s truly the case (it’s not) it makes the Cs look worse. Trading your FMVP without consulting your face of the team is a bad look. Obviously they shouldn’t consult Taytum about trades, but they should give him a  heads up, especially considering how much they played together. 

Not once has Tatum come out and proactively said anything positive or supportive of JB in literally weeks of rumor mills publicly.

The fact he in no way had JBs back publicly, even pretending, does not bode well for what he was saying behind the scenes. His X/twitter statement wishing JB well was flat, emotionless and rang so false.

Tatum is obviously a wonderful person overall by all accounts: kind, humble, involved in the community, works his ass off. But he really has an overly polished media veneer that just comes off as non-authentic.

Edit (I was not aware of Ant’s homophobic comments when first writing this; I am only referring to his candid nature, which most NBA athletes lack these days). Anthony Edwards in comparison is such a breath of fresh air in the league: speaks his mind, 100% true to himself, puts his thoughts out where all can hear it.

The overly polished media vibe I just cant stand.
