Nah his fit on the Knicks just isn’t as good. He’s still a great player and everything but he totally is the missing piece for the Spurs where he’d really just be a ring chaser on the Knicks. Maxey and Brown were the two leading scorers in the east last year. VJ was a solid two way player as a rookie, and he’s only going to be better next season. LeBron could easily be the fourth option on offense- and that’s just when Embiid isn’t there. When he is, the offense is stacked.
Where is the defense coming from?
VJ and Maxey are good defenders. Brown may be a more consistent defender with less offensive responsibility. Dean Wade will play 25-30 mins, he’s also a good defender. LeBron is still a smart defender when he roams
But Embiid is a major liability nowadays on that end, idk how they work around him

Donovan Mitchell has slightly better expected defensive EPM than Maxey at +0.1 compared to Maxey’s -0.3, and he gets clowned for his defense. People call him awful at defense.
So that’s not going to be a great argument.

Embiid is pretty cooked defensively it seems but having a bunch of dudes who can stay in front of their man can stop it from becoming a complete layup line. I’d still feel way more comfortable with a competent backup center, LeBron or not
Embiid’s biggest issue is the perimeter defense and getting pulled out of the paint. Only so many teams can really do that, mainly the Knicks. As long as we can minimize switches where he is on an island we should be able to mitigate it with him playing drop.
He was fine against Boston and will be against other teams with traditional bigs.
That would be my question. I guess the thinking is Brown and VJ aren’t bad defenders, lebron if there, isn’t bad, and Embiid is still disruptive at the rim.

Scoring ≠ load. If Embiid isn’t 100% on both sides of the court they don’t have a chance against Spurs, Thunder, and several other teams.

LeBron in Minnesota aren’t favorites over OKC or SA. LeBron in Golden State might be a play-in team. LeBron in Cleveland isn’t about winning a title.

it’s hard to overstate exactly how many boxes the spurs need that he checks. 1) a real PF who is big and strong and fits between wemby and all the 6’5” guards. 2) a true vet presence that can teach winning basketball better than deaaron for or harrison barnes. 3) a crunch time ball handler who can manage game clock, not burn a 29 point lead, and not turn the ball over with 10s left of game time. 4) a second physical interior presence who can drive to the rim when you’re having trouble creating offense for long stretches. 5) another 1 of 1 physical freak who can help wemby elevate his conditioning and body care to handle the playoffs for his whole career and achieve that next level.

Based off raw probability of winning? Yes, joining the defending champs, their Finals opponents or Thunder would give LeBron probably the best chance of winning.
But we have to factor in that LeBron doesn’t want to win by simply joining a team that is already a winner. He knows that there is an impact on his legacy if he just suits up with a team that can be seen as not needing the help anyway.
He wants to be the guy who doesn’t just put them over the line but serves as a primary reason for success for a team, so that he can be credited with that victory heavily, without it being too tall of a task. He definitely is choosing carefully, as to avoid being Kevin Durant on GS or, on the other side of the spectrum, a failed big 3 project.
LeBron winning a title by joining the best team in the league would probably do more damage for his legacy for the next 30-50 years until people forget how he got his last title, rather than him not winning it at all because he chose a team that couldn’t get it done.
