It objectively does to some degree. If a player came in an averaged 40, 15 and 15 won MVP, DPOY and FMVP for two straight seasons but then in his third year he sucks and retires by his fourth, No one would consider him the GOAT even though he would technically be the best player ever.

Even if you didn’t like the hypothetical. If LeBron retired in 2018 right after his best season there would be way less people thinking he was the GOAT. If MJ retired for real in 1993 he would also not be the GOAT compared to LBJ. Longevity plays a factor every time because we count rings and accolades, it just varies how much weight you put on it
