Jaylen Brown keeps his promise as he meets the young fan who cried over his trade to the Sixers
W JB
Jaylens always been great with the local community
I saw someone say that he’s done the most for the community as a basketball player since Bill Russel
Sounds absurd but I don’t know enough about Boston to challenge that
Thinking it is absurd is why you are commander_wrong.
His work in Roxbury (spurred on by knowledge from Bill Russell) is exemplary. The 7uice foundation has a lot of great assistance - Bridge program for one. Same with his Boston XChange work to try create wealth by investing 100k to 10 small busunesses every year.
Playgrounds, special education programs not included.. guy has done a lot. None of these Boston radio douchebags have any fucking legs to stand on when indemnifying the man year over year.
Dude was captain of his high school chess team, did graduate-level courses as a freshman at UC Berkeley, youngest person ever invited to lecture at Harvard, was named a fellow at the MIT Lab, plays multiple instruments, cares deeply about societal issues … and half this sub likes to jack off about how he’s incredibly stupid and a loose cannon lmao
I’m a JB defender, especially with how I feel like he was undervalued in Boston
But I’m pretty sure stuff like how “good” he is at chess is complete BS lmao
I love JB and having lived in Boston for nearly 20 years, he has done so much great stuff for the community, it’s insane seeing the reactions from my friends who are Celtics fans - they are pissed off.
Some of the Harvard/MIT stuff is overblown, but there aren’t other NBA players who are doing it, so he’s definitely one of a kind. He’s not stupid, but he is in pro sports, so he’s likely got a big ego and that sometimes leads to leaning into some conspiracy type shit.
He said it sounds absurd not that it is absurd. Why does everybody have to be so damn snarky?
Save me. Keep re-reading your last sentence to figure out what you meant to say other than “indemnifying” and brain can’t compute.
Condemning, I bet?
I can’t attest personally but his impact on the community has always been strong. It’s probably what will be missed the most. Hopefully he can turn some things around in Philly when they extend him at 70m a year.
Forget basketball player, he’s done the most for the community as a professional athlete since Russel. I love Tom Brady but he hasn’t done nearly as much as Jaylen.
I’ll give a shout to Reggie Lewis
Can’t wait. I’m a kid JB. Tickle me.
What the fuck is this?
A joke dumbass
Dang it’s hard to tell when you leave out the funny part
Don’t call someone a dumbass on the Internet if you wouldn’t say it in person, puss bag.
Can’t stop me dumbass
Philly fan thinking he’s tough defending a Knicks fan thinking he’s tough is just pure gold to me😂
Glad I could make your day champ
This is the same guy the internet and media keep trying to tell me is a disease and terrible person right for no seemingly legitimate reasons right?
Clowns.
I just want him to stop using sharpies on his head. Is that too much to ask?
Touche
*toupe
Toupee*
Boston talking heads suck. He’s a great player. Of course he has his faults, but his off the court contributions to the community are things not a lot of players participate in. Try not to throw batteries at him.
So long as he puts in the effort and torches the Celtics when he faces them, I think Philly will welcome him with open arms. I’d argue the city is a far better fit for him culturally than Boston off the court anyway.
Oh that is RICH. Shame that watching him for ten years, our team knows exactly how to make him dribble the ball off his own feet.
Thing is we all know Philly has a short fuse. If Brown underperforms or feels some type of way about being a 3rd option, tries to force his own possessions, has bad chemistry with Embiid I could definitely see it souring quickly
Philly has a short fuse if you aren’t putting in effort. As long as he’s giving it his all he’ll be fine
lol we’ll see. If he’s putting in “effort” but they lose to Boston or flame out in the 2nd round I expect some Philly fans to be pretty disgruntled about holding the bag (that contract) for someone who doesn’t help them win a chip.
I mean there’s always some people who feel a certain way, but generally Sixers fans only really hate the guys who don’t at least try.
Also why would we hate someone for not winning a chip, we would have to hate every player since 1983
Because of the contract. If he doesn’t take them over the top to a chip they’re tied to a player even more expensive than Paul George, not even including the extension he’s eligible for this summer. It could be PG all over again but worse (again, that’s if he doesn’t help them win a title)
Uh… who is calling him a disease and terrible person? Isnt the debate over the value of his play compared to contract under this CBA?
Colin Cowherd literally cited “anonymous league sources” saying JB was a disease in the locker room last week on air, which many NBA players spoke up and said was total bullshit afterwards. He’s not the only one that’s been pushing a similar narrative.
Got it I didn’t see that prob cus I dont watch national pundits who say dumb shit like this from “anonymous sources”… everyone in Boston knows Jaylen is a high character great guy
Ever worked with someone who was great with customers and/or clients but terrible to co workers
lol he was traded cause of his contract can we stop making up shit
I mean he can be multiple things at once.
He can be great with the community and grievanced with his team over money, trade rumors and ball sharing
There’s a subset of players who are good to fans but problematic locker room guys.
And most of the guys who have actually played with JB say he’s not the latter either and that he generally gets along with everyone well enough, just keeps to himself off the court a bit…
Sounds like another popular athlete in Philly who gets shit for similar reasons (Jalen Hurts)
I’m thinking moreso like Kyrie–I think most of the guys who have played with Kyrie have liked him as a teammate.
Uhmmm. No . You made that up
Just this season the Celtics had a backstage video asking all the players “who would you least likely want to sit next to during a movie?”
I Do believe every single player voted JB
This is so precious.
Analytics and people making fun of his hair or left handle won’t tell you all the great stuff that Jaylen does off the court.
Especially after his supermax contract, he made sure to give back to the Boston community.
Celtics lost a real one 😭
lol the hair shit was funny tho and he took it in stride
That stream when he called LeBron for advice and he didn’t pick up ☠️
I still giggle when I remember him swiping his head across another player’s jersey and it coming off. But yeah, him taking it in stride was even better.
He turned it into an ad opportunity with HIMs
Good guy JB
I just don’t buy the JB slander and the media is not going to gaslight me into thinking he’s a by dude.
He’s not by
Get this kid a black Iverson era jersey ASAP
that boy is gonna grow up play ball and torch the celtics every time he plays against them
unless they draft him win a title with him and then trade him when he gets to expensive to continue the cycle with Brad Stevens Jr. at the helm lol
That video was one of the more heartbreaking ones I’ve seen recently, and this video was the opposite.
Really happy to see the kid got to meet him so soon!
also it’s nice to have an even exchange in terms of Paul George and Jaylen Brown both seeming like great humans, I’m sure Paul is gonna do a ton of community work here now as well!
You watched that and could not tell it was produced? Lol . Or are you paid chatter
Redditors on the other thread were calling for the moms head for posting the video of him crying lol
a lil added context, i know the kid personally and they had actually already met, which is partially why the kid was so emotional about it. not that that takes away anything from JB, if anything it shows that he’s been active in the community for a long time. the kid goes to the same school that Terrance Clark went to, so JB had been there a couple times
Lil dude met him before lol which is crazy, he gotta get a new jersey now 😎
Plot Twist: Kid grows up, becomes an nba player, gets drafted by BOS, immediately gets traded to PHI for JB.
Plot Twist: This kid is actually 20 years old and JB just Mike Tyson’d him
I doubt JB is playing 10+ years from now
That’s a tall ass kid. Cuz jb almost looks normal sized there
W
Wholesome af
Imagine having this much power over someone you don’t know. Those couple minutes he spent with that child will stick with this young fella FOREVER.
Great W here
Say what you want, he’s very serious about his community building
What a way to say goodbye. Fans will still love him at Boston
That kid grew up to be kobe Bryant, he went on to slay the Celtics in the finals and was FMVP
Wait till this kid has to watch his team play against him 4 times a year
Real man
Legend
Things like this are the very rare good things about social media. It’s like how that Jets player was able to save two young fans from a lifetime of being Jets fans after he was traded to the Colts by sending them free jerseys.
God dammit I’m gonna miss JB
Everyone say this and said “hell yeah”
Miss him already.
That’s not me
Sending hate to Jaylen
What is wrong with you?!?!
I’d still bet my life it was a fake video lol. Shit was obviously fake
No 7 year old takes the macro point of view on these things lol
People will get mad at me here, but I think it’s more gross rich people can produce videos to trick audiences into liking them. That’s far more weird to me
Bro, you weird
Lol someone has to keep it real.
You don’t find it weird someone can produce a video like this and convince a lot of people of something? I’m sorry but that’s weird. I don’t use TikTok and I don’t make content so I don’t sympathize with those people like some of yall do
So sympathizing is a bad thing? Your head is in a cynical place
You’re sympathizing with content creators who influence the audience for their own ends

Imagine getting your son’s idol to come visit him one more time? Call child services ASAP
Love judging parents based on like 2 minutes of internet clips
Nothing more Reddit than that.
They always say some bullshit like this when it’s black parents, has your mom ever gotten you to meet your favorite athlete? I feel like they turned a negative into a positive. You fuckers act like they coach the kid to cry.
And also that kid was genuinely very mature in my eyes in the OG video 😭 being a literal sobbing child and still having the grace to thank Jaylen for everything he did is so precious and a great example for how people should react
How dare them for letting their kid meet his favorite basketball player
Y’all didn’t have this heat for the white parents who posted their kid crying about the sauce Gardner trade last year
