One of my favourite Lowry memories of all time is the regular season win against Cleveland where he just refused to let us lose.
My parents were in the crowd for that game and I’m forever jealous they got to see that live.
I loved the game against Denver in Tampa, seemed like it was the last game he’d play for us (thankfully it wasn’t, that game against the Lakers was A LOT of fun) where he finished the game on a +42.
It was the most Kyle game ever, barely scoring but doing all he could to showcase his teammates abilities on the court.
We haven’t had someone be able to set the table (for themselves or others) consistently like Kyle did since. So many wonderful memories.
He was an old school point guard. Remember what he said about Kawhi and the 2019 raps? Everyone eats before he eats. He didnt think his scoring mattered as much as getting the entire team involved
He could absolutely take over a game when he needed to, but he played excellent team ball.
Always think of gamw 6 & often watch the opening minutes of that game. Kyle just knew how to win, his ability to read the game & adjust to the teams needs…. Proper old school PG.

I can relate to this: my wife is from Cleveland, and our oldest was born in 2016. We sometimes refer to our kid as the ‘championship baby’.
(On a side note: our youngest was born in 2018; we don’t talk about what happened in the playoffs that year …)
I have fond memories of the 2019 Finals. Got burned out from all the GSW vs Cavs matches so wasn’t even thinking about watching that year, but a Canadian friend invited me to the sports bar to watch with some of their Canadian friends and their energy just hooked me. Ended up watching the rest of the series with them and the Raps victory was oh so sweet.
Man Kyle got a lot of flak but I personally loved him in Miami. Sucks that the drop off happened so quickly but he was really vital that first 1 and half seasons there. If that Jimmy 3 went down I think we’d have a shot at having given him his 2nd ring. But retiring as a Raptor is the perfect ending for him. GROAT.

Hate Vince all you want (and I still do) but there’s a good chance the Raptors never gain traction and quietly relocate just like the Grizzlies without him.
This is a false narrative that needs to be squashed. Before and after Vince we were solidly mid-market in attendance and earnings. We were never at risk of being relocated like the Grizz or the Sonics. We had ownership that despite it’s faults was never going to let something like that happen.

Watching him and Van Fleet in the 2019 run was incredible. Really thought he would be out of the league after his time in Houston, and I’m happy for the game he turned it around. One of the best charge takers in the league’s history, which is a weirdly niche compliment but he gave the Raptors a ton of possessions doing that.

Lowry might not remember every charge, but I will. That set the tone for how the Raptors played. Always had a chip on his shoulder, never gave up, gritted out a lot of games that could have been losses. Never saw him pass up a hustle play.
