Giannis’s Goodbye to the city of Milwaukee and Bucks fans.
Not many will understand what he means to us but he saved our franchise and chose us for 13 years. This trade needed to happen but this hits really hard. Forever thankful for Giannis
To me it’s nice to hear that for every moment of pride I felt seeing him wear MILWAUKEE, he also felt a sort of pride to represent our home. It’s a small thing, but a nice one.
As someone who’s lived away from home for the last 20 years he’s given me pride and a connection to a place that feels a million miles away. Nothing but love for my GOAT
Lovely sentiment 🥺
The ones that get us over the line to the trophy are immortals.
Got sick of the trade dance but love the man forever.
I tell people all the time, the only reason the Bucks are still in Milwaukee is because of Herb Kohl refusing to sell the team to new ownership who would move the team (credit to them too), and Giannis.
I truly don’t think Fiserv would have been built if there wasn’t a promising future and the Bucks would have been forced to move. Not to mention it turned an absolutely useless piece of land into the Deer District too.
That’s crazy that it’s been that long.
sad video I think he’ll finish his career with the bucks
He can give us a serviceable 15min spelling 6x All Star Bogoljub Markovic
Bogoljub
I can see him signing a one day contract to retire as a Buck, but not sure if he would pull a Kevin Garnett and actually play like one final season with them
I mean thanasis did..
Probably Olympiacos.
Damn. Giannis couldn’t have said it better and speaking as someone born, raised and residing in Milwaukee, he truly was the superstar we always needed to represent us. Didn’t need to get all up in my feels but will always miss you #34 and your mural ain’t going nowhere.
Oh cool, time to cry.
Never even been to Wisconsin and that got me dude
It was time bruh
I always respect when athletes acknowledge the cost for fans to attend these games.
100%
Then he turns around and shills for Kalshi lol
What is your problem? We’re complimenting PR teams and script writers and you need to come in with this nonsense?
Fuck this is gonna be harder than I thought
Bruh fr tho
[removed]
So is hiding your posts; come on out of that closet.
Is he a greater Buck than Kareem?
Easily.
Has been since they won the finals.
Undisputed franchise GOAT. On top of all the numbers and accolades, his rise and success coincided with a complete transformation of the organization and its perception. Any Bucks fan from pre-Giannis times will tell you it’s been genuinely unbelievable how far the Bucks have come in the last 15 years. It’s been a half decade now since the title win and there’s still times that I can’t believe that I was alive to see the Bucks win a title, let alone ever have a player like Giannis to begin with.
He was there longer and wanted to be there I guess
I think Sidney Moncrief is underrated for them
They basically invented DPOY for Moncrief and he was a guard. Crazy impressive.
Injuries sapped him of his prime quicker than would have been expected. But he was a truly elite player.
Has basically every franchise record, been there longer and has basically been just as successful, so its an easy yes
Yes. Not better all time, but better as a buck.
Yes. The only real arguments for Kareem is he has 1 more MVP and took them to a second Finals where Boston wiped the floor with them in Game 7 at home. His teams were more successful than Giannis’ but he was a Buck for way less time than people think.
Granted those are three decent arguments at worst.
They are, just not enough to beat double the time spent in Milwaukee
Would Oscar Robertson be considered a bucks legend or would he not been there long enough
His number is retired, so he’s a legend in MKE. He’s behind Giannis and Kareem (and maybe a couple others) in the franchise pantheon tho
Without question
Absolutely
Even though the break up was tough and messy, will always love you 34. This is the guy that single handedly kept the Bucks franchise in Milwaukee and changed them into winning franchise. Till next time champ 🫡
Glenn Rivers is a disgrace to basketball and I fucking hate him
Even though we were probably destined to reach this moment since our roster was continuing to degrade and Giannis wasn’t down with a retool year or two, it’ll always be insane to me that we decided to spend the last 2.5 years with the greatest player in franchise history by employing someone as goddamn fucking useless as Doc Rivers.
Doc was the last straw for us losing Giannis, and as much as I will always love Giannis, I will equally hate that useless fuck Doc.
Without Giannis and Herb Kohl this team is in Vegas years ago
The dad has to move to Miami for a new fancy job but kids stayed with mom for the schools and extended family and he sends child support cheques in time and every holiday/birthday comes home with more presents than santa clause for grandma, aunts, nieces, nephews.
loved watching this dude play for all these years, so sad to see him go but he remains one of my favorite athletes
Giannis was always one of my favorites to get on my team and play with in 2K. Awesome player.
Giannis will always be loved here in Milwaukee
Dude changed flairs quick
Giannis gave me love for the NBA, rather than the Bucks
embarrassing
Lmao, why? I move to Milwaukee and Giannis gave me a reason to pay attention to the sport, which otherwise I didn’t follow. I don’t have anything to feel bad about
He gave all of us hope and something to root for but switching up to our rival because he left is whack
Plenty of sports fans are not fans of teams but individuals, I personally don’t see why that is shameful.
for a lot of people, especially people not living in nba cities, its not really based on the city due to that. makes sense why people who fell in love with a single player dont have the same connection to the city
If it helps, I’m glad he didn’t go to Boston (even if a better fit) or Chicago?
The Heat have been the second biggest hurdle with Giannis for us. Its like Aaron Rodgers going to the 49rs or Seahawks
On the other hand, it’s not clear he could have ensured as big or a bigger return for the team by going anywhere else
But then you immediately jump to the Heat? Smh.
The guy is a Pistons fan.
The Thanasis farewell video should be posted any second now
It’s important for every team to have their superstar and as a neutral fan I couldn’t be happier for the Bucks. Got the ring, the celebration and now the memories. Hopefully we will see the Bucks as contenders again.
Thank you, I hope so to. Hopefully we hit on Nate Ament and he makes teams look back and think how did we let him fall to 13.
My favorite athlete of all time. It was time, and business is business. But man, it still really fucking sucks.
Damn. That was well done.
The last year of this saga got ugly and I admit that I got annoyed with Giannis, but that will never overshadow what he meant to both the Bucks and Milwaukee and general. He’s the greatest thing to ever happen to the franchise. That 2021 title run and the clinching game in particular was magical in a way I don’t think I ever quite felt before watching sports. No matter what happens during his stint in Miami or anywhere else he might go, Milwaukee is his home and I can’t wait until he’s back as a Buck either during his career or in retirement.
I really wanted Giannis to be a Bucks lifer. I know the FO wasn’t perfect, and maybe far from it, but they made so many good moves with the limited assets they had, and eventually just ran out of steam. Gonna be weird seeing him in a Heat jersey. Hopefully he pulls a Lebron and comes back in 3 years
I hope. I want him to retire a Buck.
The whole sick crew that’s been wish casting him out of Milwaukee and the media weirdos who believe there’s 3.5 markets worth playing in, I hope all your success turns to ashes in your mouth. Also, see ya Giannis - watching every game is a chance to see greatness. Prime hoops man
What a great video. Shows he really cared about the working class fans and their values.
It’s gonna be hella different in Miami!
The way it ended with the Bucks wasn’t pretty. The Giannis story, his brothers, the journey from Greece, is all surreal. How he developed, grew, supported his family, won 2x MVPs, a championship, finals MVP.
Giannis deserves to be remembered and praised.
Pretty touching.
giannis & milwaukee is one of those player-franchise pairs that just hits different. went from the 15th pick story nobody believed in to bringing a title to a small market. hope he gets the welcome back he deserves whenever he goes back
Him and Jokic
facts. jokic is the same mold — unassuming euro, became the MVP, changed denver’s whole history
I believe him too. I believe he will continue to be a fixture in the Milwaukee community.
My favorite NBA player of all time and that’s never going to change, what a fr34k of nature. God damnit this hit way harder than I thought it would…
I want to see the Bobby good bye video too. Giannis will get his flowers anywhere he goes, but I don’t think Bobby will ever get anything close to the fanfare he got in Milwaukee on any other team, and I think he probably also knows that. I’m sure he’ll never forget and always miss the BOBBY BOBBY chants at the Fiserv. Maybe Miami fans or Giannis will keep that going in Miami though, but he’s just salary filler / a small depth piece to them so I doubt it would stick
Damn it’s not even late afternoon and I’m crying. Start construction on the Statue right now.
Fucking dropping the blue collar, hard work ethic bars always gonna get us to rally to your side lol. Hope you fucking hate Miami.
All good things come to an end. But while it lasted, it does seem to me that Giannis represented the city well, showed up for them, and cared about the city. You can visibly see how hard Giannis worked to be the best player he could be, and it’s rare for a city to get a superstar who gives it his all for them.
Love the appreciation for the fans and the recognition of how much some people sacrifice to be a great fan. Love the tone of humility and gratitude. It felt genuine.
respect to Giannis for everything he gave Milwaukee. that 2021 ring run was special to watch
Giannis gave everything to Milwaukee. Ring, MVP, that 50-point closeout game. Reminds me of when LeBron left Cleveland - hurts now but the city will always love him. Hope he comes back to retire a Buck.
Classy as hell, dude is great
this was really beautiful and touching
Fuck, man
As a Canadian idek where the heck milwaukee even is but this made me cry.
Do we have a link that’s not 360p?
Who is cutting onions here? STOP PLS! -_-
Aw. Man.
In the NEon stream when he found out he was traded he almost cried…
Don’t worry we will take care of him. Big ups to the bucks ! ✌️
What a pick. An afterthought to the lotto picks that year.
Anthony Bennett was taken #1 that year.
It’s like telling your ex: I love you always, you are always the one for me, but I’m leaving you for someone else I think is better.
Lets gooooo
I have no doubt he’ll eventually be welcomed back with open arms but any chance he’s getting mega boo’d his first game back?
I would be shocked (and pretty disappointed) if we did. Yeah the wishy-washy statements were really annoying and we were ready for him to go in the end but he’s the clear franchise GOAT and brought us our first title in 50 years. No way he should be getting booed.
the giannis saga was one of the more tame ones that got blown out of proportion here
Janice*
Ps. Dont hate me. I never asked for a trade
This is all bullshit we saw his true colors the last 2 years
