I also honestly think self awareness is a factor. If you’re okay but know your role, maybe teams will give you a contract. Compared to thinking you’re some slighted all star caliber player.

The funny thing is Zach Lowe was only reporting what someone told him. Because Lowe was probably the biggest Cam supporter in the media (not saying much, but he definitely wrote positive things). So even the battles Cam picked didn’t make any sense

I honestly think this is a real part of why he’s not on a team. If you’re signing Cam Thomas, it’s at least partly with the hope that he’ll adjust his game to fit into your team and system. Even Jordan Clarkson made real adjustments to his game last year.

It’s hard to believe Cam Thomas will do that when he was so mad about mild criticism that any team signing him would almost definitely agree with.

And that’s perfect, hes only 24 team and has a complete bag on offense .. the thunder have a “bench full” of these guys, Jordan clarkson made a career out of this role. No pressure to lead a team, Give me 35%+ 3pt & 12-15ppg off the bench, and maybe improve yourself to where you’re a starter again in the future. He still has potential

This is honestly 10x worse. Dennis definitely fucked up all those years ago, but at the end of the day, he still did technically end up getting paid decently after, he just had to wait a year to get it. 84 million over 6 years isn’t as good as 80 in 4 or whatever that deal was that he turned down, but it’s not the end of the world. The man has still made generational wealth despite fumbling that offer, he just had to play for minimum for a year or 2 to get back to that same salary range. Plus, he had already gotten his first big contract from the Hawks worth 60 over 4, so even if he never received the current contract he has, he would’ve STILL been able to say that he secured the generational bag long before he fumbled the 2nd big contract.

What Cam Thomas has done is a catastrophic mistake on his part. At least Dennis got his first big contract before he fumbled the bigger bag. The way I personally see it, he’ll be lucky to EVER get a contract worth 8 figures a year after his performances in Brooklyn and Milwaukee. Who knows man, maybe I’m wrong and this guy does turn it around and keep his job in the NBA, but I don’t see him ever getting similar value to what he was offered ever again

This is worse, he hasn’t gotten his first big payday yet
