Darryn Peterson full interview on the court after the 103-102 win in overtime against the Atlanta Hawks - Salt Lake City Summer League.
He remains humble.
You know he’s gonna be good because his hairline is already cooked. Sign of every great.
I’ve seen his dad, it’s just a big forehead
Definitely a hall of fame indicator
Hahah this..
Guy is gonna be so good.
Yeah and it’s a shame he’s in Utah. It’s super early and anything can happen but if he’s the next big star he needs to go to a franchise with the culture to push him and whatever brand he creates with his career. Allen Iverson wouldn’t have been Allen Iverson with the culture influence if he went to Utah
Jazz are a very good franchise historically though
Not many natl tv games tho
They will once they’re good again
You got lakers brain lmao you probably grew up 1000 miles away from LA
That’s usually the common denominator amongst the Lakers most annoying and brain dead fans on the internet lol
What did I say that was brain dead please tell me. Jazz don’t have a lot of ball tv games which sucks for a top 3 pick. I’m going to steal the game regardless but it’s harder for him to really get his name out there.
Give us more then

And the Knicks have been a joke franchise that nobody took seriously until the finals this year. What’s your point?
How many hall of fame basketball players have come from the state of Utah? What culture has Utah given to the basketball community and black community that primarily is the NBA?
Oh gosh, I guess this means Utah will never ever win ever, and no player ever should play here.
I mean, yeah that’s the viewpoint a lot of fans have. Utah is notoriously racist and even Donovan Mitchell talked about his experience with dealing with it there. I just don’t think Utah can support Peterson if he ascends into stardom, similar to why Donovan brand took off once he got out
New Yorkers were destroying the city and beating people in the streets lol. Shut up.
And that relates to Utah racism and believing black people were cursed and many people in the state still holding that belief how?
What a casual take.
Yall were a fucking joke franchise for decades. Do you know how hard it is to not only be a joke franchise for that long, but also be in one in a city of that caliber? New York, like LA and Miami, had all the advantages you could possibly have and yall were STILL that bad.
That’s cool dude! Just wondering, who won the championship this year?
Congratulations on being relevant for the first time in your life and still acting like a loser lol
Dude you can’t be serious with the same flair I have.
Who cares about his endorsement opportunities, they’re a good basketball organization 😂
Do you get that in Minnesota? Ant has done great there and still been an icon even though he went to a smaller market with a pretty weak team history.
Also Utah has become quite a bit more culturally relevant recently.
I swear bro this sub is stupid as fuck. What you said is 100% correct
I think he will be perfect for a star in Utah and I hope he spends his whole career there.
Thanks for having our backs 👊
I’d like him to come to Boston
He’ll ask out within 6 years imo. Even Donovan Mitchell talked about the racism he experienced while playing there and he was the best superstar they had in a long time.

Man I thought the other guy was being dumb, but this is a new level of idiocy. If the east is easy mode then why did the Knicks just win in 5 😂
No such thing as a “weak ring” for a team, you’re either champs or you’re not. And Utah is notoriously super racist, New York has plenty of racism but is one of the most diverse cities in the world.
None of that changes that Utah is a good basketball organization and this kid is going to do great.
No, the East is absolutely the NBA on easy mode. Celtics and Knicks both didn’t play a real series of basketball until the finals. Knicks only competition until the Spurs were a lone CJ McCollum not impressive at all. They get 3 bye rounds in the East, they get to rest because every series is a cake walk, then they can plan for whoever comes out from the West. It’s not the same at all. West goes to war while the East plays in the WNBA until the finals.
I’ll quote the great Ric Flair… “In order to be the man, you got to beat the man” and the Celtics and Knicks didn’t play anyone until the finals. Not elite or impressive at all.
And, Utah is notriously rasict? Last time they had any indicident was what 21’ to Ja’s parents and those fans got a lifetime ban. NY is actively rasict now. While assaulting fans this year.
Yes Utah is notoriously one of the most racist parts of the United States, this isn’t a remotely disputed thing.
And to your Ric Flair quote, both of those teams beat the West champion. So that’s “the man”. Sure the Spurs had a tougher conference finals series, but the Knicks still bounced them in 5 games. You don’t get to call the east easy mode when they beat “hard mode” in 5 games.
Nah, you get to rest and plan for a whole playoffs. Eliminate the conferences. Move to a 16 team playoff. Eliminate these weak ass Eastern conference runs. Eliminate the asterisks on these weak ass banners.
And, the rasict days of Utah are over bud. SLC is one of the most progressive cities in the country now that everyone from California moved there. (SLC is where the Utah Jazz play). You gotta keep up with the times if you want to be talking shit about an entire population of people my guy.
There’s no asterisks except for casuals, and both of those teams you’re referencing proved more than worthy of their rings. But sure I’m down to ditch conferences. Though the conference rivalries are still fun.
And I’m not talking shit, the state of Utah is historically quite racist. I love SLC, and like almost every city it leans progressive, but it also has a 2% black population. You don’t get to call New York with a 22% black population “racist” because Utah’s non existent minorities are having less issues.
So you think the Spurs deserved the ring? Or OKC should have it?
What about the Clippers? 🤣🤣
You have never been to Utah and are a white male
I’m a Mexican who lived in Utah for 15 years. Got family there I visit regularly. You’ve never been to Utah and are a white male.
😭😭😭
I’m definitely not white, but I’m sure you knew that…
I’m also sure you never experienced racism in NYC as a Mexican. But sure, no one in Mormon Utah treats minorities worse, let’s go with that 😶
You know the Knicks beat the west champion, right?
I hope you cope this hard your whole life over this ring.
So who was better than the Knicks? I’m not replying till you answer this question
The Spurs were “better” and we beat them. OKC lost to the Spurs.
No one else in the West is touching us either, we would’ve swept anyone except them. So who is making up this tough conference you speak of?
Rascists 🤣🤣🤣
Imagine shitting on NYC for racism (???) without even being from a place good enough to flair up for
Yeah, unfortunately for your fanbase we all saw what fucking animals you all are. Imagine calling another fan base rasict because they got a lot of white people when your fanbase assaults people and uses the F and N slurs regularly.
I have no idea how you fanbase as done it. But you have made Thunder fans look like gracious champions.
Actually, that’s not true I do understand. I have been to NYC. You live on top of each other in windowless boxes and pay more in rent than what the rest of us own homes for. Y’all need this ring. Even if the rest of us aren’t impressed by it.
The United States are very racist in general. Brown and Tristan Thompson just talked about the racism in Boston.
one of the biggest stars in the world is in Fucking Oklahoma. Darryn will be fine
Knicks fans get relevance for the first time in decades and this is how they’re acting.
We don’t claim him
He has 808 in his username, maybe he’s Hawaiian. But even then, worst Hawaiian ever.
Good thing it’s not 1996 anymore grandpa. He’ll be alright and have plenty of reach if he’s good. Jazz have good ownership and an extremely supportive fanbase who already love this guy
While he’s not in a big market, he has the backing of fan base that is very eager to start winning again and more importantly, an owner who very much wants to push the narrative away that Utah is a small market, nothing to do, etc.
Under the old ownership group, I’d probably agree a lot more but don’t be surprised to see a big push from the Smith family to make sure he is known not just in Utah but everywhere else. Something I’m not even sure Jazz fans will be able to understand until it happens. It’s uncharted territory really.
Meh I think this is a really dumb take. True stars will rise above their geographic location, and the franchise is clearly ready to start pushing for wins. And by your AI comment it seems like you mean the white/Mormon culture, which I also don’t think would pose any real barrier for any true star.
Ehhh he’s basically the guard version of Kawhi personality wise. He might not crave the big lights and limelight like that.
is it really a shame when the alternatives for peterson was memphis or washington?
Shai plays in OKC
Bruh. Utah is going to be scary soon.
I think they might make the playoffs this year as an 8 or 7 seed
definitely before they lost kessler, now idk. their center rotation is rough
I think the spurs thunder wolves nuggets and rockets are the only teams that are for sure making the playoffs, everyone else im extremely uncertain about.
yeah the west isn’t that deep this year
You’re more certain about the Rockets making it over the lakers? You’re unserious.
Rockets weakness last year was their lack of a ball handler and now with the marcus smart signing and fvv returning that issue is bound to be solved. I just don’t see any glaring weaknesses in their roster that could cause them to miss the playoffs. The lakers on the other hand have an extremely injury prone player as their starting center, who certainly cannot play heavy minutes, and outside of him their whole roster consists of 1 way players. In the games that kessler inevitably misses with mamu as their 5 they’re gonna have a defensive rating of like 150
A Lakers team that is just Walker Kessler, Luka & AR and a bunch of whoever is better than all of the Rockets team? They’ve got a starting 5 and LOTS of good depth. They were missing a primary PG all season, if FVV is back and all good to go, they’re going to be scary.
Even if they end up shipping away KD to someone else for some assets, they’ll still be good. Certainly better than the Snowtime Trio and G Leaguers, especially since they probably can’t afford to retain Rui and LeBron is gone.
There’s no way the Lakers dont make the playoffs, unless Luka has like a season-ending injury (dont worry, I knocked on wood).
Luka missed the play in 3 years ago averaging 33/8/8 and was well on his way to do that again in 2024 until the mavs got him an elite poa wing and rim protector to work with. It’s definitely not impossible(although not likely). I do not doubt his offensive ability at all, the team around him is a terrible fit with him on defense. You realise kessler is very unlikely to play even 60-65 games right? that leaves them with ~20 games with a starting 5 of luka/ar/carr/laravia/mamu(horrible defensively).
Oh yeah you’re right, Luka missed the play-in and not the Mavericks after letting Jalen Brunson walk for nothing🙄 lol. I will give you that Kessler is injury probe so if they dont find a suitable backup in FA it can get dark if he goes down.
I just think this team will be too good offensively to keep out of the playoffs sans injury bug.
one of these teams is not like the others
first guard prospect i predict will be a perennial allstar since Cade. hope he succeeds in the years to come in Utah, him and keyonte gonna go crazy
Think you’ve forgotten about Dylan Harper. He’s like a vet in year 1
i don’t think he’ll be a perennial all star being the 3rd option on his squad, darryn is gonna eventually be the 1 or 2 guy on utah
Shout out keynote speaker
Apple already got an ai player in the league?
Utah had no business being one of the bottom 3 teams last season. They legit had a roster that could’ve easily made the play-in as the 8th seed but chose to tank instead. They’re going to be a dark horse for the West soon
Facts.
Would have, now not sure becouse Kessler trade.
Utah is gonna be good, very very soon
I’m so glad the Wizards didn’t draft this guy lol. It will be nice to see Utah competing in the next couple years.
Don’t worry. AJ is gonna be nice as well.
It will also be nice seeing delusional Celtics fans realizing they can’t win a title with Podcast P as a major contributor.
You guys better hope keeping Hugo Gonzalez was worth all that trouble. Could have had Giannis instead of that shit sandwich you got instead. Lol
What? I know this and am pissed about the brown trade. Paul George is trash and don’t expect to be winning anything. I expect us to suck so you are barking up the wrong tree.
He saw the word Wizards and went into attack mode.
You can’t win without talent which they now have
utah is literally the west version of wizards, both have been disaster these past 3 years talkin bout some “know how to win”. if that was the case we wouldn’t have the best of this class 😭
Dont offend me so. We all know the Sacramento Kings are the Wizards of the West! The Jazz do not have a championship, but unlike the Wizards they have a winning record over the last few decades.
prob got my fave personality outta the top 4
That was a good game. over a point per minute for Peterson on 52/57/67% splits shows his scoring ability, and the way too many 8 TOs will come down once the games mean something.
So excited
He’s going to be so good
Utah is scary
He’s so good. Can’t wait for him to play. I’ve never had a favorite player since Iverson but this is my guy.
I love that his reaction to a softball question about his 2 blocks was “yeah, my D sucked this game, missed some assignments, got blown by a few times, I gotta work on that stuff.”
People haven’t really called him out on his poor D this game, so it’s good to see him call himself out.
The main focus of Utah this season is to try to get their D in shape, from worst in league to league avg. Good setting to drop your expected #1 scorer into for development imo. DP is NBA ready to score already. It’s his defense and passing that’ll either elevate his game to the top, or keep his peak at all NBA 2nd/3rd team.
I hate it that he is humble! But they’ll love in in Salt Lake.
I hate that he ended up on Utah, for the bullshit tanking they did. Would’ve liked to see him elsewhere he’s gonna be really good.
Don’t hate the Jazz hate the NBA for incentivizing teams to lose. Tanking been going on long before the Jazz did it.
