[Highlights] Yaxel Lendeborg full highlights vs. Los Angeles Lakers - California Classic (104-72 W):
19 Points on 6⁄6 FG, 4⁄4 from 3, 2⁄2 FT, 5 Rebounds, 6 Assists (4 TOV), 1 Steal, 1 Block, 2 PF, and a +/- of +11 in 21:47 minutes played.
Dude definitely did great. Both him and Will Richard were stars tonight.
On a tangent:
I have no idea if Jeannie Buss has a type.
Also, there is always a bald white guy on the Lakers.
Do with this what you will.
He looked like a man among boys, partly because he is.
Lakers summer league roster has 8 players older than him and only 3 players total born before his birth year. Not exactly a bunch of teenagers out there.
Good catch. I guess there’s a reason he went at #11 then
He was amazing in College. He’s basically the ideal PF for the modern game. Excellent size, visibly impactful defense, great shooting, and the ability to playmake for others. He’s basically The exact player Kerr wanted Kuminga to become lol
Really jealous the Warriors got him. Steinbach is a really good prospect too, but I desperately wanted the Hornets to land either Yaxel or Morez Johnson Jr!
Crazy that technically, Yax is one of the youngest on our summer league squad…🙃
Even the summer league team is full of uncs?
This is a great video for what’s wrong with the assist stat. The last one is the only one that seems like it should actually count, because he set up a bucket. I mean watch 0:45. It’s a mystery for that to even be in the highlight video, then you realize they gave him an assist for swinging the ball to a covered teammate.
But that’s kind of beside the point, because he looks good.
That’s pretty standard for NBA assists. As long as the guy moves toward the basket you get an assist, even if the shot happens 5 seconds later.
Is it as generous in college?
Really just depends on the school or conference, and who the stat keeper is. College is less standardized.
However, in general, most schools are equally as generous. There’s no reason not to inflate players assist totals. Fans are happy when their players put up great numbers.
Careful, that one guy that’s been non-stop commenting on Yaxel posts to shit on him is going to show up to this to talk about his hips or whatever.
He’s older than many prospects, yes.
But his offensive ceiling may be something like Chicago Jimmy Butler meets Obi Toppin. Agile and all-around skilled like Butler but has some size and power like Toppin.
Personally, I would’ve taken him Top 5 and lived with the consequences. Maybe that’s unwise but I like him that much
He has such a weird development history, it’s weird calling a 23 year old old, but in nba terms it is. If he was like 19 or 20, he would’ve been top 5 easy. But it’s hard believe that he’s hit his ceiling just because he’s older. Would love for him to blossom into a star
Probably would have gone number one. He’s got a really nice blend of the strength’s of the top 4 guys, but barely has any of their weaknesses.
He’d have more defensive potential than anyone except Wilson, can shoot way better than Dybantsa or Wilson, has comparable size to any of the prospects, was a better College playmaker than Darryn, and is way more athletic than Boozer. He’s basically the ideal modern PF. His only real flaw is his age.
Yeah plus people always say he didn’t do organized ball until later so hopefully he has an even higher ceiling. Maybe a plus that he hasn’t grinded his body to dust on AAU schedule
He played 11 total games as a high schooler
Meanwhile, it seems like these insane AAU tournaments make kids play that in a single weekend
I remember playing 4 games on a Saturday pretty consistently for aau lol
That’s just a silly narrative being pushed around. Both his parents were high level basketball players and Yaxel was raised since birth to play basketball. He just didn’t play high school ball a couple years because he was academically ineligible.
His basketball age is a few years younger than his actual age. Didn’t start playing basketball seriously until he was 15 and is still very much developing
Thats’s quite an impressive start, even for summer league
very solid
unc is good
As advertised
If the dribbling translates at the NBA level he could be Warriors 2nd best player by the end of the year. I think of Butler as already retired (even though he will milk his stay with contracts until 40).
He should change nothing on his form. Nothing. Don’t let anyone tinker with it. Just gets lots and lots of reps.
He was the best player on the court, confident and controlled. Who could ask for more?
My favorite part is him already calling coverages and plays
Let the OG lite comparisons begin
Doesn’t really remind me of OG
He is good. Wonder what the thoughts would be if he was 21 right now
He wouldve been in the mix for the first pick
1st? god no. Maybe after Top 4.
Maybe not if he were 21, but he’d absolutely be in the #1 Convo if he were 20 or younger.
He’s a way better defender and shooter than AJ Dybantsa. He’s more durable and a better passer than Darryn Peterson. He’s way more athletic than Cam Boozer. He’s a way better shooter and playmaker than Caleb Wilson.
He’s basically the ideal blend of all four guys. He also just won the title.
But hes not
If my grandmother had wheels, she would have been a bike.
Definitely got ridden like one.
Looks great but hes older than Paolo
Less than 2 months difference in age, what fact could be less relevant?
The fact he’s also older than Kuminga. Point is the same point that’s always being made about him: yes, he looks good, but he’s also ancient relative to his draft class. How good would 5th year Paolo have looked in college on that Michigan team? How good would 6th year Kuminga look against a team of G leaguers/couple rookies? It’s what is gonna be said about him every highlight til proves if the high floor everyone keeps talking about is real in an NBA season or not.
Yeah, his turnovers are something that need to be fixed. Also his rebounding was pretty bad.
He’s a warrior, no worries, we love turning the all over
Bro thinks he’s part of the team
Bro thinks he’s cool because he’s not apart of anything
Learn how to spell, pal
