Especially since it’s not like Pritchard ended the season on a high note. In those last three loses against Philly he shot 4 for 20 from 3, putting up 12, 14, and 13 points. Last year when they lose to the Knicks he went 33% from 3 outside of one hot game.

I like Payton, but this as justification seems nuts.

EDIT: Also noteworthy that in the 50 games Payton started last year, he shot under 35% from 3. Maybe having PG around sometimes helps that, but it certainly hasn’t been a trend line pointing to a Brunson-like leap.

This is how I feel. The Celtics sub was basically a bunch of people on suicide watch all day yesterday, it’s insane. So many posts about “fire Brad” and other ridiculous takes. I’m sure that if there was a better offer Brad would have taken it, clearly the league doesn’t value JB the same way the fans do. But I have faith that one of the best GMs in basketball has an idea of what he’s doing and will figure out how to make it work.

I can only imagine that the Celtics sub is comprised of sub 20 year olds that lack any sense of reasoning or impulse control with how everyone was acting like the sky was falling. There were a lot of people saying we would be fighting for a play in spot which is crazy to me. We exceeded expectations without Tatum this year and I’m sure we’ll exceed expectations next year without Brown.

Maybe Brad fucked up on this one, but I’m going to wait and see how it plays out. No point in stressing about that before the season even starts.
