That’s why we shoot so many 3’s, even though it is counterproductive. Analytics doesn’t appreciate JB because:

• JB is reliable (often plays when others are out)
• JB often was the #1 option or staggered from Tatum
• our bench was often quite good

+/- stats can be deceiving. And for JB they are very deceptive. Then on top of that, his TS% isn’t as good as others because he shoots a lot of mid range jumpers.

But that is a great thing, because JB can always score. Unfortunately, Brad thought JB wasn’t as good as he is because he overrelies on analytics.

The Fox contract would massively hamper them from competing for most of the remainder of Tatums prime.

I think both of those opinions - that Brown is convinced he’s a genius and that Brown had great off-court impact in Boston - are accurate.

Pretty sure Queta, White, and Pritchard are all analytics darlings to varying degrees. Hauser decent too. I really don’t think anyone thought PGs contract was movable before today. And if he has another season where he misses 50% of the season, I think Boston will 100% be paying him whatever his player option is. There’s no way they can move it besides, like you said, they trade away a bunch of picks, which in that case, they land a superstar. But making a move like that for a gamble is kinda wild.

Tatum is the only player in four rounds that could shut down the Mavs pick and roll. He is the most important player in that finals, and it’s not close. That’s not on a box score or spreadsheet, so you wouldn’t know that.
