Trying to get a player better than Collins who no longer made sense with the roster long term when we traded Zu. Counting stats as a shooter are good but Collins deficiencies are not ideal when he isn’t paired with an elite defensive anchor

just because you don’t own your pick doesn’t mean you have to try to win especially a 3 year contract. You can still have a year playing your youngsters and lose a bunch compared to having a veteran taking their minutes. Yes you don’t get rewarded with a high pick, but the development by playing young players can be just as important if not more than the extra wins you pick up by playing veterans.

I think there’s a sweet spot between wanting to get younger and more athletic, and just full on tanking. They may not be rewarded with another high draft pick, but changing their timeline appears to be the strategy

They have a new top 5 pick, but most their young players now are either just entering their primes or a couple years out

So a swift rebuild, not like a process sort of deal.

Also, they should definitely try and pry Duren away. With no max players on the roster, giving him a shot on the mini-max he’d be eligible for on the clippers makes a ton of sense to them. Works out great! If not, extends the timeline by like a season or two.
