Jalen Brunson reveals Steve Nash was his favorite player, but couldn’t wear #13 in NY because of Evan Fournier
https://athlonsports.com/nba/new-york-knicks/jalen-brunson-reveals-reason-behind-knicks-jersey-number
Every time I hear Evan Fournier’s name, I think of his Goku quote
I think of his nickname “Don’t Google”
“Do you know Dragon Ball Z? When the hero Goku finds himself on planet Namek, injured, in a regeneration capsule? I had this image in my head all year, every practice.”
Most dbz fans working out typically use Vegeta as inspiration and not Goku since he gets to fall ass backwards into everything.
Thats just Vegeta fan logic lol
Goku works harder&smarter. Not his fault the “prince of all saiyans” and his golden genetics can’t keep up
Point is Vegeta always has a chip on his shoulder since Goku is constantly a step ahead of him.
He can carry the weight of second place
Need to google his name and this quote
To be fair they’re probably both be speaking the same language now
Dragon Ball is Japanese, though?
(Also, just learned that Fournier now plays for Olympiacos in Greece, and they’re winning everything, good for him).
Mandarin?
Magic legend.
Underratedly good in crunch time
11 is better, far more symmetrical 😌
It’s also lucky.
Man makes his own luck
I think people would really struggle to find many harder workers than JB.
Reminds me of those towers
It’s also Messier’s number! After Brunson retires, no one will ever wear a home jersey with number 11 at MSG again.
I will :)
Also gave us that iconic Clyde to Brunson “Legacy passed” ad as #10 passed the ball to #11.
That was one of the best pieces of advertisement in modern history… And we deadass just kinda brushed over it.
Thats should be everywhere still.
It’s one of my wallpapers, it will forever be remembered in my household.
Nah, I wish Brunson had 13.
What an Odd thing to wish for
What’s it to ya
Obligatory reminder to not look up Evan’s last name
Forgive my ignorance, but why?
Look it up lol
Baker?
Switch to image search
It’s ok, I figured it
it’s a bacterial infection of the genitals so use your imagination there
Fournier’s Gangrene
You can look it up, don’t google image search it though
Just don’t. Unless you want to quit internet for the day
It’s my favorite flavor of ice cream.
I’ve never looked it up but know of the meme. I’m genuinely scared to look it up.
It’s not that bad tbh, just genitalia gangrene.
First time this sentence has ever been made
No I mean it doesn’t look visually that bad lol. Obviously it’s a condition you should get treated ASAP.
Jalen Brunson continuing to climb the list of my favorite players in the league
There’s no bad blood from what he did to the suns in the 2022 playoffs?
Suns fans hated Luka but I don’t ever remember them having beef with Brunson. Feel like they don’t blame anybody but their own team for 2022. Kinda hard to be angry at the opponent when you lose Game 7 by 43 points at home.
Yeah it was never Brunson, Luka got basically all the flame because he was the number 1 guy and also I had to see 10000 Luka memes after that (granted some of his quotes / pictures go kinda hard but it was still a pretty low point as a suns fan)
Also for some reason Spencer Dinwiddie was like one of the most automatic players I have ever seen in that game 7 and while I didn’t really have any bad blood about it I couldnt believe my eyes.
Youre 100% spot on about blaming the suns over the mavs though.
That’s fair I was rooting for Chris Paul to get a ring so I would root for the suns in playoff games and I remember Brunson pissing me off obv same w Jose in round 1 and now they’re both my guys lol
Picturing Jalen Brunson in a #13 jersey seems so wrong lol
Wait till you hear about the Mavs
he wore 13 on the Mavs lol
Dude just gave all of NY another reason to hate Evan Fournier
Why would we care tho
Do Knicks fans hate Evan Fournier?
No lol
Was gonna say that was random haha
OK, at least this post doesn’t have any crazy in it.
11 fits Brunson so well. Beautiful number on my glorious king.
LMAO
So much PGs in todays league really look up to Steve Nash i remember Trae Young saying that’s his idol growing up and now Brunson lol. Don’t blame them either I fell in love with this sport from watch Nash play.
Brunson has talked about AI the same way. Used to cut up his mom’s socks to be shooting sleeves. Kinda interesting since those are two totally different players, but both smaller guards obviously.
Both PGs xD
Steph too
I love this man. To members of the Chicagoans whose favorite player was Nash club
He even left Dallas for a bigger star role like Nash did 😞
At least that means you guys are guaranteed a Ring in four years.
We didn’t trade Dirk though…
#11 looks like the twin towers. Just saying.
and his dad wore 9
Conspiracy theorists have cooked with less.
Big heads can’t break steel beams.
He’s talked about Nash before - said he loved him for being the “undersized guard” who could win MVPs
Don’t tell Shaq
Shaq in shambles
He could always change it like Lebron and Kobe, I guess.
Lol and he couldn’t get “1” cause of Toppin.
Derek Harper is great but Brunson made “11” legendary.
11 is getting retired for sure
Perfect symmetry: the two players that Cuban tried to lowball, left as free agents and became (F)MVP elsewhere
The way he navigates space around the basket and just outside is very similar to Nash. He’s taken a lot of what made Nash so dangerous and applied his own flavor to it. Applied a tweak to the metaphorical sliders as well, leaning a bit more into the scoring than passing.
11 is better anyway. The captain, just like Messier was to the Rangers
Fitting the Knicks won with a total of 94 pts in game 5
I always knew I like Jalen Brunson 🤝
I saw Nash as a High Schooler at St Mikes. He was just plain better than everyone else. I am surprised he only got one D1 offer and it wasn’t from a Washington State school. That’s how it was in ‘93. Very few 🇨🇦 were getting 🇺🇸post secondary offers.
This is the kind of news i think we’re all here for today
Do yourself a favor and don’t google Fournier’s last name 🤣
lolol damn
I’ve never heard a player cite Steve Nash as their favorite player growing up.
