The New York Knicks are hunting Mitchell Robinson replacements
The Knicks are reportedly looking for possible Mitchell Robinson replacements if he decides to leave in FA. The Knicks can only offer him around \(5 million in his first year of contract, about 60-70% less than what he made this season (\)13 million). Therefore Mitchell Robinson is highly likely to walk to the Lakers, Kings or Nets, all in need of a rim protector.
Possible replacements the Knicks are looking at:
Kevon Looney - Pelicans declined his $8 million team option and have sent him to FA. Highly likely he ends up elsewhere.
Why are the Knicks interested? He is a veteran with lots of experience, winning 3 championships in Golden State.
Nick Richards - Similar play style to Mitchell Robinson, crashes the boards and is a good rim protector with a cheap asking price (most likely the veteran minimum, which helps the Knicks avoid the second apron)
If the Knicks want to trade for a big man:
The Knicks front office has some big decisions in the coming days if Mitchell Robinson decides to walk for a larger pay check, and whoever the replacement may be, will have big shoes to fill.
