Suns are stuck. They traded all of their draft picks for KD and Beal, and stretching Beal is going to eat $20m of their cap until 2030. They have very limited means to add new players.

They have too many SGs and not enough PFs. Booker, Green, Gillespie, Goodwin, and Allen are all basically shooting guards. Dillon Brooks and Oneale were too small to play PF full time.

That’s it. They needed a PF, they had SGs to spare.

Edit: Also, the reason Stewart went for 2nds was because the Pistons wanted to move him without taking back salary. Not many trade partners could do that which naturally lowered his asking price.
