• Right now we have 5 bench wings: Hauser, Scheierman, Gonzalez, Walsh and Harper Jr.

We’re starting Hauser, but he’s really just a placeholder until we find someone better.

• We also have 2 guys in that 3rd-5th option pool: White and Pritchard

We’re currently asking them to do a little too much, and the team really stinks when they go through slumps. We don’t have enough guys who can score when needed, so we look really rough when a guy like White averages 11ppg against Philadelphia.

I think the idea behind Cam is that we’d be swapping a bench wing for a starting wing and adding one more guy into that pool of players who can average +15ppg.

I hate that the Nuggets are going to trade him, he got it going in the second half of the season. Year 2 he’d be much better, honestly if I’m Denver I’d rather have him at his price over paying Watson 30 mil a year off one year where he was injured and didn’t even finish the season.

I don’t think that’s fair to him as a player for a litany of reasons.

First, parts of the team were unhealthy. Aaron Gordon, who would get the rebounds and offensive rebounds to raise CJ’s game, was not available for much of the season. They also didn’t play their typical Jokic/Murray 2-man game that helps role players for multiple stretches of the season because they were without one or the other.

Secondly, chemistry doesn’t happen overnight. It was his first year in Denver and guys usually take 2-3 years to settle in and play at a high level while they get adjusted to their team’s plays. This was David Adelman’s first full season as a head coach and he was likely having difficulty to getting adjusted and getting his players in the right position every game.

CJ can be a piece that helps them get over the top but they need time to gel. Shooting 43% from 3 on Year 1 is a great sign to show that. Their main 2 issues aside from the above are that they gave that awful contract to Christian Braun, and this 2nd apron era penalizes those kinds of mistakes so badly that it deters that necessary alignment from happening. All of this to say, its just not a fair indictment on Cam, especially when he helped Phoenix reach an NBA Finals in 2021. He can be that type of player, he just can’t carry an entire team - but that’s why they have Jokic.
