Since the 2022-2023 season Lamelo Ball has played 177 of 328 possible games.
During that same exact time frame, Zion Williamson of the New Orleans Pelicans has played 191 games.
Zion is healthier than lamelo??
Since 22-23, career wise Zion has missed a higher percentage of games still
Zion has missed more than half of his games though
Being more injury prone than Zion is insanity
Next level up would be Oden level
Played 82 out of 328 games, missed 246 games
Ja has played less game per season than LaMelo over their careers. Thats the craziest one for me. As a matter of fact Ja has played 7 seasons now and in that time played less games than D.Rose did in his first 7.
Ja played just 1(one!) more game than Brandon Roy in the same amount of seasons.
Ja ruled out
Ja in seven years has 390 career games, Rose had 368, Roy 326?
I was looking at regular season numbers
Holy fuck, Zion playing more games is crazy.
AD has played in 203 games in the same time frame
Insane đ
If you watch TikTok youâd believe lamelo plays every game and scores 55+ pts every game
Have faith in the mayo clinicÂ
[removed]
We got the Mayo Clinic hopefully we can fix him
If this was selling high I don’t know man. Naz Reid, a 1st rounder 7 years from now, and 3 likely completely worthless swaps is not much of a return.
I think it’s the frustrated Ant they are trying to avoid along that same timeline.
I did not realize it was THAT bad, holy shit.
Geloâs brother?
Mr. Glass
Availability is a much needed ability
Damn heâs as glass as his brother Lonzo. Lavar messed up these Ball boys with improper training.
I don’t follow Lamelo, what’s his issue, the same re-ocurring injury?
With Zion it’s always been his weight & off-the court distractions that prevent him from focusing
Ankle stuff for the most part.
lottery teams w/ injured star players don’t want them back. Haliburtion achillies could have healed like Wolverine and he still wasn’t playing last year.
True. People also forget that SGA played 91 total games the two years OKC tanked.
Usually yea, ankle or wrist
How was last season
it took a minutes restriction for lamelo to have his first healthy season in 4 years
Both seasons coincide with the Hornets not being complete dogshit too.
Atleast with Zion you know the injuries are real because the Pels put all-stars next to him for his entire tenure there and he still missed games.
Ingram was his only All star teammate his entire tenure there.
That made the team while there sure. Zion played with Jrue, Ingram and Murray all who made all-star teams.
He also played with CJ who almost made an all-star appearance too.
i know that. the hornets couldâve been winning more if lamelo was able to stay healthy, but he canât which is the issue
are you saying lameloâs injuries arenât real?
They definately look worse by the Hornets tanking. Stars dont rush back to play when the team is 20-43 and teams want them to sit out.
There’s a real case where LaMelo goes down with an injury misses 10 games, the Hornets are dogshit and just decide to sit him out.
the hornets werenât tanking they were just bad, and they were bad because lamelo was always unavailable
Look at those teams, they are so bad, they were built to tank and get another guy next to LaMelo.
How many minutes was he capped at?
72⁄82 games played so pretty damn good.
On a minute restriction lol
Damn guess Wemby should pack it up
Wemby wasnât on one to start the year, ramped back up until the playoffs and then played 40+ a night all the way to the finals.
Lamelo was on the restriction the entire year when his team desperately needed him to play more to avoid the playin and couldnât do it.
These arenât the same situations lmao
Over the past 2 years, Wemby has played 300 less minutes than LaMelo has.
Yeah Wemby upped his minutes in the playoffs and LaMelo did the exact same in the play-in.
This would only be fair to judge if LaMelo had also made the playoffs and they continued to load manage him.
Ja Morant: 140 over that span
Yeah, as a Minnesota hater, that trade news had me elated. They’re so fucked lol
Even if he plays 20 games, the Wolves will be an above average team.
Wolves won a playoff series and took the West winners to 6 without their backcourt being healthy and then Ayo went down too.
They were already above average tho. Ant is legit and Gobert is a perennial DPOY candidate. Idk if this trade makes them better, especially with Lameloâs injury history
Sitting pat isn’t going to make us better.
There isn’t a guard at that price point that fits the way LaMelo does on the Wolves.
As a fan of a team that beat the Wolves not even that long ago in the WCF, all you guys had to do was double Ant over and over and over in the half-court and our offense would fall apart because no one else could do anything off of that initial advantage.
Yes injuries are a huge risk, but that’s why we can even get a player of his level of talent. If he was perfectly healthy, then we wouldnt be able to trade for him.
Feels risky, but fortune favors the bold. Guess weâll see what happens, I get the motivation for both franchises
Damn that bad, outside media doesnât talk about Hornets Basketball for me until resurgence. Zion was annotated the ânext LeBronâ, thatâs why Zion and absence was focused heavily even being a Pelican. Now itâs stale news, so Lameloâs games played with the Wolves probably be something media will fall back on when thereâs a slow day next season because itâs fresh.
Thats more than half at least đ¤ˇđżââď¸
How many car accidents per 100?
Is that bad?
That sounds bad
Counterpoint; we have Mayo Clinic and weâre not a tanking team
Stat looks worse than reality cause of tanking
LaMelo the Troelo
‘Trust the Process’
I really donât know since I didnât really follow the hornets but is any of it that they were holding him out some games as an âinjuryâ for lottery purposes?
Why did he only average 28mpg last season? Were they better with him on the bench or resting him, or both? If they play him big minutes and expect him to try on defense, he is going to get injured.
Most of Meloâs injuries deal with his ankles, while he missed a lot of time it never really hindered his game and it seems like the sort of injury that was more flukey than systemic.
Make of that what you will.
How is continually injuring the same part of your body not systemic? Thatâs exactly what it is.
The same way Steph had ankle issues early in his career too, and he got past them or how PorziĹÄŁis has injured the same side of his body, his entire career.
Recurring ankle injuries arenât ideal, but theyâre usually something you manage with treatment and a brace. Itâs not the same as an Achilles tear or a chronic back injury that can derail a career.
I think you know the distinction Iâm making. Youâre just being intentionally obtuse.
Name another player that had recurrent injury issues that somehow disappeared?
Steph Curry is the *one* example of this happening. Thatâs why he was on a crazy 4 year/$40m deal when their dynasty began. Even Steph Curry himself thought there was a good chance he wouldnât be able to hold up long term.
And PorzingisâŚ.lol. The most games he played in a season was his rookie year. Youâre the one being intentionally obtuse here.

You can be an educated hater thereâs still a lot to hate
He was saving his energy for the Timberwolves
Very convenient cutoff. Why not go back one more year, when Lamelo played 75 games and Zion played 0?
252 out of 410 is also not that good lol
Tbf, the Hornets had no incentive to rush him back because they were tanking. Still a real issue, though.
He played what 72⁄82 last year so who cares
And he played 69 combined the 3 years before.
And the Hornets were tanking for those 3 years, actively not wanting LaMelo to come back anyway.
What a shocker the only 2 times his team has ever been decent he wasn’t injured.
Unlike the Pelicans were going for it all for those 3 years
Pelicans were trying far more.
Zion has literally never played without a former All-star on his team. Had Jrue Holiday in 2020, had BI until last season, had Dejounte Murray in 2025 and now and CJ who almost made the team a few times.
They’ve made lots of moves to get talent and give it a shot.
The Hornets have done neither, legitimately Brandon Miller is the best player he’s played with and that’s a decent starting wing that’s also permanently injured. Miller would be the worst number 2 Zion ever played with.
Yeah, donât people know that players generally get less injury prone as they age? /s
Warriors fan of all people should know how this works
Only because he was on severe minute limitations which was smart coaching by Lee. If not for his minutes being cut (thanks to Sexton and White being mostly available) Melo’s ankles wouldn’t have handled 72 games.
