[Highlight] ‘26 ROTY Cooper Flagg tape
For as bad of a HC that Jason Kidd is, he was 100% justified and spot on about having Flagg be the primary ball handler. You have to be able to create your own shot and looks for your teammates if you want to be a superstar. The growing pains will be worth it in the long run as he continues to develop and get better.
Kidd isn’t a bad coach. That’s Reddit bullshit that gets conflated because he has a past as an abuser. Giannis even credits his growth towards Kidd.
He’s just not a GREAT X’s and O’s coach. He was forced to play on ball as a rookie for the front half of the season, we weren’t winning regardless. It was worth it.
Is Kidd that bad of a coach? Was honestly thinking he had come around a bit
He has his flaws but he’s not a bad coach by any stretch of the imagination
He has character flaws more than basketball coach flaws. He’s a schemer and he will rub your the wrong way in the long run. He was angling to be GM and coach on the Mavs once Nico got the ouster. That’s part of the reason he got kicked to the curb by Masai.
He still seems like a total asshole and can’t draw a play out of timeout if his life depended on it
Hes not the best strategist but he’s great at developing young talent.
If Jason Kidd coached Mobley he would be a much more polished offensive talent. He would be more of a 22⁄10 guy not 18⁄9 guy
Kidd allows young players to make mistakes. Mobley was put into a team trying to compete for playoffs as a role player that he can’t explore and make mistakes when he was younger
Kidd is a good coach wytm
Kidd isn’t a bad coach. The only people who say that are the ones who already hated him for his past.
The truth is that he should have been kept a developmental type of coach for at least another year maybe two. Then as Cooper develops more and is more ready as a star ship Kidd out for a coach that knows more of what they’re doing with a more cohesive roster.
Kidd also just has a track record at this point of developing super stars and using rosters that maximize their talents. Not sure why it gets ignored but it’s just a fact at this point.
He’s not a bad HC at all tf?
Yeah kidd is a good coach. He did the same with giannis, made him the primary ball handler
The only thing Kidd did wrong was actually taking him off of those duties, he should have kept it going longer
But Mavs fans specifically want ROTY awards and PPG and got angry because that’s what fans care about in a tanking season, the entire Mavs season was centered around looking at what statlines he would post instead of developing him and beefing with Kon and whoever was up for ROTY
It was great for him and with his inability to shoot he’s going to need to do it more because his best asset is driving to the rim and he needs the ball in his hands
After Coop came back from his mid season injury, he averaged over 5 assists per game which was higher than his season average so I don’t really know what you’re on about Kidd taking him off any ball handling duties.
This guy is going to be soo good for years to come
Honestly it’s an insane first year mixtape
Honestly it’s insane the Mavs got bailed out.
This guy could go pro
eh
I know it’s heresy to say this but he looks a lot like bron here
He does, but not as athletic. Watching that Cleveland LeBron highlight video made me realize how much of a freak of nature he is. Flagg could end up being the best player in the league and not match that, which is absurd to think about.
The deft lefty finishes especially so
LeBron James
Cooper Flagg
Both first and last name have same amount of letters.
Flagg’s number backwards is 23.
Coincidence?? I think not
It’s pretty crazy how good he is now. It’s actually mind blowing that his game is so refined right now as a rookie and how good he could be in the next five years
The 5 or so years the conversation has been “the best guys in the league aren’t from the US” but just in the past couple of years we’ve had Flagg, Harper, Edgcomb, Kon, Dybansta, Peterson, Boozer, and Wilson enter the league. A lot to prove in that group still, but the US has had an influx of top level talent the past few years.
Wemby will have something to say about it, but team USA has a bright future.
Edgecombe is from the Bahamas
If I had to guess, there’s been a pushback in some AAU circuits on the way the game is played. Many of the guys you mentioned have refined mid range game, post moves, etc.
There was that period of like 10 to 15 years where AAU fell prey to mixtape culture and it was basically nothing but dudes who could throw down thunderous dunks and shoot threes. Half the AAU guards couldn’t even make an entry pass to the post.
I don’t know exactly what changed, but I feel like just by watching a lot of these people as freshmen in college, you can see that their coaching while they’re teenagers is a lot better than it was.
Back to back first picks from New England specifically
Once the main core of the US old guard retires from international play, then the best European teams will own the Olympics. It’s not just talent, it’s chemistry, balance and leadership
People are gonna be shocked when he drags whatever team they piece together to the playoffs next year on an all pro season like he didnt just drop the top 3 scoring games for a teenager in nba history.
Thank you lol I don’t expect us to compete with OKC, San Antonio, and Minnesota right away (I think after the Melo trade and once they shore up their 4-spot they’re right up there with the best of them) but I’d be slightly disappointed if we can’t at the very least be a gritty first round exit.
Everything hinges on Lively’s health tho.
It’s crazy the Mavs had Dirk, then Luka & now Cooper. 3 franchise players all in 3 diff decades. Once this kid bulks up and fills out his frame,😳😳😳😳.
Crazy to not mention boban
Or the goat Powell
And Salah Mejri
He’s already strong af too that’s a scary thought
I know these are highlights, and highlights are supposed to show the best plays and only a small percentage of total play - BUT, this dude is clearly gonna be a problem. We see videos that circulate social media all the time about just how good even the “worst” players in the NBA are. Now you have some kid/rookie phenom, who was just obliterating opponents in AAU and college, now doing the EXACT SAME THING against grown fucking men, who are the best of the best. Gonna be scary in the next couple of years, but I’m here for it!
Yeah, he would go first this year’s draft too
Ge would go first in a lot of drafts tbh. He’d have gone over Ant, over Cade, over Paolo
He’s so good
everytime I see a Cooper highlights video I watch it all the way through, so fun to watch
Cooper is a beast lol
This kid is flipping 19 man
Goodness gracious he’s absolutely killing everyone in sight. Truly ferocious.

Don’t get the point of even bringing up harper here lol
Yea wtf 😭
He gets to his mid range spots so easily. He’s a good finisher. It would be great to see his three-point percentage go up, but man. He’s a special player. He has amazing defensive instincts, but had some typical rookie mistakes on that end.
The thing I’m most excited about with Cooper Flagg is that his game will translate very well into postseason play. I feel like in a couple years he’s going to be the type of player where you just need to get there and you have a chance because he’s always going to be a walking bucket from all three levels. If the threes aren’t falling for the team, he’ll back down his man with the old man game and shoot a middy right over the top of him.
Special, special player. Dude is like a mix of Christian Laettner and KG or something.
The hype for how great he is and will be is nowhere near where it should be. Flagg is THEEE ONE
He’ll win MVP in year 4
Coop has a much bigger bag than Wemby IMO.
I straight up forgot about him. He’s got some nice moves
Was a little bit worried for the first 20-30 games of the season, but he really started to improve after that stretch, will definitely be all nba level soon if I had to guess.
The Maine man is what we thought the fat mamba would be
This past season’s rookie class really was so impressive. To the point that this current hyped up rookie class has work to do to surpass it. Flagg, Knuppel and Harper all look like legit stars.
i think he’s going to be a 6-7 assist per game guy next season too his passing is so strong and was hurt by our anti-shooting roster
That lean spin thing he does is something else.
Just a reminder that he skipped a grade and that last year should have been his freshman year in college. He’s the same age as all of the incoming rookies. He’s going to be so good.
Legit insane slasher and play finisher
Those green unis go hard as fuck.
Damn he be yammin
He’s on pace to be an all time great player
Play this for the people who thought Kon got robbed of ROTY 🤣
Both of them would have been deserving candidates. I think Kon shoulda won but obviously he wasn’t robbed.
Bullshit. Knüppel was never a RotY canidate, he will always be a number 2 or 3 option at best.
He was never a candidate, which is why he got 44 first place votes to Cooper’s 56? He was voted as a competitor. You don’t have to agree but he objectively was close in a fairly tight race.
We all know the NBA Awards are a joke and 90% of people voting there dont deserve to vote. Thats why we got comical Awards like Westbrick, Rose and Embiid MVPs or Marcus Smart DPOY.
No euros in the lottery, Cooper winning RotY, Reeves getting a big deal. Domestic white guys are back, baby!
Harper>Flagg
If Flagg had dropped to the #2 in the draft he would have started the full year for the Spurs.
Me when I lie
one gets to play with wemby the other has to go to war with caleb martin and marvin “bagman” bagley
This reminds me of when people said Mobley was better than Cade because he got to play with Donovan Mitchell, Garland, and Allen while Cade had Killian Hayes.
