It’s not just an internal NBA league thing. It’s a full on legal matter with lawyers and the FBI (I’d assume they’re looking at the Kawhi matter since they’re looking into Aspiration). Even if the league was ready to lay the hammer down, it’s very possible that the lawyers/authorities have told them they can’t whilst there is an active investigation going on.

To me, it taking this long means they haven’t found anything concrete enough else it would have been delivered and punishment handed down. Watson or anyone else doesn’t really impact that. I’d be stoked watching a team of Garland/Wagler/Watson/Kawhi/Yanic, but if we got a bunch of picks and a couple of good players, I would be pretty happy with that too. That being said, I’m not fully sold on Watson, and I certainly don’t think he’s worth the giant risk of losing out on all tradable contracts (Bogi/BroLo/Batum) and two solid rotation players (Mathurin/Collins).
