The most impressive part of that game to me is how Duke adjusted to Caleb going off in the first half and how Caleb was basically fine in the second half being used as a distraction despite a huge scoring game. He seemed completely fine being a decoy if the team won. I’ve been a fan since.

Wilson is an impressive player. He reminds me so much of young Jermaine O’neal, which might not appear like much to younger redditors, but before his body gave up on him JO was third in MVP voting behind KG/Duncan… arguably the two best PFs ever. JO was a truly dominant force defensively and a hell of an offensive big.

My biggest worry about Caleb is his ability to stay healthy. The kid broke his hand dunking in practice and I believe had another injury in practice. Like take care of yourself homie, you are nice, but also very reliant on your athletic ability. That’s not going to change now and the season is like 4-5x times longer.

I would put Boozer as the best player in the class, AJ as the player I would want on the Pacers (RIP), Wilson as perhaps the highest potential, and Peterson is going to be a great scorer but I’m not really a fan of his overall game, but boy has the softest 3pt shot. That’s just top 4 too, a lot of these players could blow up in the NBA. This is just one of those freshman classes where every single player has real high level NBA talent.

There’s an incredibly fine line to walk between having insane confidence and also being self aware. For example, if Gobert was insanely confident in his offensive abilities and started demanding the ball and trying to play like Jokic, that would be incredibly detrimental to everybody involved. We all know that’s not who he is. I think that with young guys just coming into the league though, it makes more sense to be very confident, especially with a guy like Wilson who has all of the tools in theory, or can at least develop them. Why can’t he be the Rookie of the Year or the GOAT? He probably won’t be but right now, doesn’t make sense to put limitations on himself. If a few years down the line he’s a guy who’s clearly a role player and he still acts like the main guy, that would be bad because he’d be hindering the team at that point and wouldn’t be allowing himself to be the fullest version of himself (see Aaron Gordon who is a much better player now that he’s not trying to play as one of the top options offensively).
