i honestly doubt it, the past two playoffs his been played off the floor

last playoffs he got lapped by mccain & the drafting of stirtz is just the nail in the coffin

Was unplayable in the last two playoffs, McCain took his spot and with Stirtz getting drafted means he was 100% gone.

They basically didn’t have any roster spots to sign their draft picks.

He seemed to have taken a big step at being more active on defense this year imo. He was a bit more passive before. Whether that translated as being a better defender…unsure. he is rather small.

But dude can shoot lights out when he gets hot.

Best way I can put it is he’s definitely not a low-effort defender.

He’s just small and has a light frame that’ll get him picked on in certain matchups.

If he’s shooting like he normally does, you’ll never feel like he’s a net negative out there

He’s got good steals, and fits a team defense, but will never be a good 1 on 1 defender. Stick him on the other team’s worst offensive player and your usually fine. 

No lol he will hit some clutch threes for you. Everyone is over critical of shooters but we are so deep that it’s hard for a shooter like him to always stay warm. He’s minimum 25 mpg kinda guy on most teams.

He is below average but not a complete turnstile

He couldn’t Crack OKCs playoff rotation that needed shooting, but during the regular season he can win you a game with it, so it does matter. You guys will love him! 

Joe is a regular season player, against the best teams he gets played off the floor. But in the regular season he will get hot and hit 5 threes and win a couple games by himself. In the playoffs he finds him self out of the rotation against the best teams. The emergence of Mccain in the WCF really shut the door for Joe.

He is perfectly competent at this point

He’s not great but hustles and tries. Just a little weak and not too quick laterally . He won’t be played off the court or anything

No, when Shai was out Joe was leading the team with Cason Wallace, everyone on Okc is a solid defender for their size. Idc what anyone says

He is ok. Improved this year.

Considering how Duncan was serviceable for you just consider him as a step up on that

He’s solid enough on defense. The problem has been that he has been a zero on offense in the playoffs. It’s quite odd.

But he’s been so good in the regular season that many fans, including myself, still would have brought him back and given him a 4th shot at making s postseason difference

Especially considering teams know OKC wants to unload salary. There is inherent leverage here

Ya it’s pretty clear in this era teams don’t trade FRP for guys that are not at least middling starters.

A good bench guy is worth a SRP platter - we have seen it 3 times this summer (Stew, Joe, Wiggins)

But also, Joe and Wiggins are more valuable on every team in the league than they are on the thunder. They’re just buried behind incredible depth

And not even 7-8th man. Isaiah Joe was 11th in the OKC playoff rotation in minutes, Wiggins was 13th. We’re talking about guys who were completely out of the rotation by the end of the year.

elite regular season player, but struggles in the playoffs due to the fact teams just target him defensively

Yeah this is the “downside” of having a ton of talent. Can’t keep everyone, and other teams know it.

Isaiahs just aren’t worth as much as they used to be.

Not trying to trash yall, but Presti wasn’t going to send his champions to bad situations. In ATL and DET they’ll have a great chance to stack minutes and still compete in the playoffs.

And if you know the team is trying to offload salary and has too many players. He would have brought more in for most other teams

People are overly critical just because he was a non factor against the Spurs. He gave good minutes against the Suns and Lakers. He can shoot from anywhere and that opens things up. His lack of defense is overrated. He stays in front of his man which is good enough most of the time.

He was probably the best 9th man in the league and really hopes he shines in Detroit.

His shooting’s generally fine, but a lot of the value in what he does in the regular season is his DHO action that get him back cuts/open 30 footers that pretty much evaporate in the postseason. He’s usually able to get a lot more shots up in the regular season as a result, the volume isn’t enough to justify him staying on the floor in the postseason when he gets killed on the glass and in 1 on 1’s against Castle/Harper/Vassell, Luka/PJ/DJJ, or any other team with big wings, especially cause its hard to hide role players to begin with on defense.

Him being 165 pounds just doesn’t cut it as a role player in the postseason, but he’s a great regular season player on a good contract

No, he was getting DNP in the playoffs before McCain got there. He’s too small to get free from playoff defenders.

Maybe but it’s also weird he can only shoot if we up 20 or down 20 if the games close he turns into Ben Simmons.

They can lock him up longer term if they wanted at a lower than market number.

Basically he could make 11 this year instead of 3, but in years 3/4/5 he will get 11 instead of 18 he may have gotten.

Don’t quote me on the exact numbers, that is just the logic
