Lots of people that probably regret their behavior in hindsight. It’s also hard to explain (if you weren’t there) what that build up was like. The stress of that last season, the way they fizzled against Boston, then going on national TV to announce it. Glad we’ve evolved since then.

I’ve been to multiple finals games in my life. Nothing has every come remotely close to that Miami game when he returned for the first time after leaving. Literally 2 hours before tip-off it was as loud as the final minute of a G7.

The letter was salty as hell but in the moment I think a lot of people were in their feelings. Even a complete neutral like myself (Lakers fan, nothing to do with and no chance of landing LeBron) was shocked.

Only one team can win it each year and sometimes your superstar can be too good too fast. The Cavs only having one ring is totally valid. The same thing that happened to LeBron is happening to Luka.

The Cavs were in a dark period late 90s-early 00s and did not have a good foundation outside of Boozer. Infamously, Boozer left (look up that debacle) and LeBron lost his perennial all star teammate. Gilbert bought the team after LeBron was drafted.

Unfortunately, like another post mentioned, we got too good too fast and never had an opportunity to draft high again (see Luka on the Mavs). The highest pick was Luke Jackson (bust) at #10 missing Iguodala by one pick, who was rumored to be the Cavs target.

From there, we had very limited assets for trades and aren’t a free agent destination. LeBron did an amazing job elevating the role players we had and the team did a great job of finding diamonds in the rough, but there was never an opportunity to get a true star to play alongside him during his first stint.
