Overall yes lots of busts but Ant, Haliburton, Maxey, Avdija, and LaMelo competes with just about any other drafts top 5 players plus you have Desmond Bane, Payton Pritchard, and Jaden McDaniels going in the late 1st. Covid made scouting was super hard and had some bums being picked way too high

As a guy who watched both in the same team, you’d see more flashes w Wiseman. He’d have 3-4 min stretches where he’d look comfortable posting up and I could at least see where the potential was

Bagley was a little more consistent w a lower ceiling. As bad as he was tho his skillset was a good fit w Cade

Last time I saw Bagley he was promoting his new songs on Tiktok

Yeah, I wanted to reach for Avdija at the time though I didn’t expect him to hit this big - my thought process was more along the lines of “We got Andre Igoudala at home”, nobody had Haliburton on the map for #2. That is my “cope” for the Wiseman situation, that without going full hindsight is ²⁰⁄₂₀ we didn’t miss out on what would have been an obvious gamechanger. Now if we had first and picked Wise over Ant… a horrible scenario to imagine.

Phoenix also royally messed up that draft. They picked Jalen Smith at #10 even though they already had Ayton, then didn’t even pick up Smith’s extension.

Haliburton was at #12 and was a contributor from Day 1 and would have been Chris Paul’s successor.

Melo in 2020 and Franz in 2021 and they could’ve gotten another chance of a reigniting their dynasty damn.

They should have just traded that pick. Moved down in the draft and taken Hali. 

A good GM wouldve seen the talent and picked a better (but lower ranked) player. An elite one would’ve been able to trade down and get some extra assets out of it.

Never pick a raw center at #2 over a player named Melo.

I think he turns out a little different in terms of maturity and play style if he’s around guys like Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, Steve Kerr vs miles bridges lol.
