He won’t need to rebound when Kessler and Markkanen average 7+ each, and Ace Bailey’s vertical is somewhere in the stratosphere.

Y’all can not really think that that is going to work right, you’re much better off with jjj at the 3 but trying to role out three bigs that can’t really dribble or facilitate seems like a genuinely awful offensively philosophy and if Lauri is the three hes gonna get hunted by every athletic wing on the other end. Maybe I’m way wrong but I have no clue why this giant line up would work at all
JJJ is the best 4 we have on roster
I explain this every time someone brings up Lauri and his position.
He plays the 3 the same way he plays the 4. He the archetype of dudes who play those positions are a lot closer than guys who play the 2 and 3 these days.
When the Jazz started hot, it was Lauri at the 3, Flipowski at the 4 and Kessler at the 5 and it was a problem for teams. Lauri basically popped onto the national scene as a 3. Ace is fighting with Kessler or Darryn, not Lauri or JJJ
Might wanna catch some Jazz from the last season games, they were not tanking the first halves of games. There’s one or two with Jaren in the lineup, with JJJ at the 4 and Lauri at the 3 and Nurkic at the 5. Nurk is a better facilitator than what Kessler’s been, but Hardy can cook with these guys as been evident when experimenting in previous seasons.

Do you think as he fills his frame out with age that he will eventually transition to the 3? Genuinely wondering as I didn’t catch a lot of Jazz games this past season unfortunately, and never really had a chance to watch Ace at Rutgers
He has the chance to but he’s still so young and has to put his game together. Last year was interesting for Ace because you could tell the staff was deliberately only having him focus on one avenue of his game at a time, which I’m sure helps him adjust to NBA speed better. One week it would be all defense, then he would handle the ball a lot more, then he was running offball, then just spot shooting.
The real thing with Ace is whether he can put them all together at the same time. He showed his truly elite potential scattered around last year but never all in one game. He’s also probably gonna stay more slender, I’m not sure he has the frame to bulk. I bet he could be a great 3 though, super versatile player

I would be a little surprised. I think Peterson is going to be ready to go from day 1, and brings more all around game. I do think eventually they trade Lauri, as long as Ace looks good, but right now Ace can come off the bench at 3 different positions and give a good scoring effort.

Ace might start half the games next season as Lauri, Jaren, and Walker aren’t 82 games a season players, so by default he might start more than not

Most likely, yeah. I wouldn’t be terribly shocked to see Svi actually start at the beginning of the season (Hardy seems to love the guy lmao) just to avoid the situation where Ace feels some type of way because he gets “benched” in favor of their newest draft pick.
I think he’d handle it like an adult and not feel any type of way since it’s very obvious that Utah loves his game and views him as a serious long-term piece, but there’s something to be said for putting both him and Darryn on the bench as the 6th/7th guys and saying “you both have to earn your spot” so that there’s no hard feelings when one guy wins out over the other.
Gonna be honest, I think the plan is to move on from keyonte.
Really though it’s whoever doesn’t mesh with the new team, they’re going to be flexible.
To start though DP will be coming off the bench and it will be key/Ace/Lauri/JJJ/Kessler
Unless the fit together is abysmal, that likely won’t happen any time soon. I see Lauri being the odd man out with time as eventually you’ll want Ace to take his spot at the 3. I think JJJ/Keyonte/DP will be a great trio together.

The last few years have shown just how much they value Lauri, like you were saying, and the lack of extensions for Walker and Key are overblown imo. They’re RFAs so it’s nothing but beneficial to the FO to see how this year goes before tying up cash
Keyonte is actually more advanced than Lillard at the same age, Keyonte, at age 21, is putting up numbers and advanced stats like a 24 year Lillard.
The plan is probably move on from Lauri when salary explodes and put Ace at the 3.
