[ESPN] Cameron Boozer: “Many years down the line, people are gonna look back and say I should’ve been [the No. 1 pick].”
he also said he welcomes the “modern day Kevin Love” comparison
NBA champion and all star. I’d also like to be compared to him.
the young bucks don’t know about twolves klove
UCLA Love was built different. He’s always been that dude.
i remember i first heard about him when he was in slam in high school but he really earned his stripes at ucla fs.
Gonna spend the rest of my night watching KLove Full Court Outlet Pass Compliations.
Put a sock on the door knob
UCLA Kevin Love is what UCLA Jason Kapono thinks he was
Dude was dropping 20-20 games like it was nothing in the early 2010s
Mr. 30⁄30?
You never know. Matt and Nick Jackson may have been fans of UCLA
remember when used to average like 20 rebounds a game
Kevin Love was electric.
30 and 10 machine
30⁄20*
I will never forget the game Rambus finally gave Love real minutes and love had that 30⁄30 game.
Also really stylish and good-looking
I bet his golden retriever lives an infinitely better life than me and always smells good
I bet his golden retriever’s shampoo costs x10 more than my shampoo.
And gets belly rubs from Kate Bock
Also he eats at the chillest restaurants and hangs out with the hottest girls
All-time glowup by the big lad
i think you’re the kevin love of your workplace
Appreciate you.
Haha modern day. That mf still playing!
Maybe he means he’s like 40 year old Kevin Love
I mean there are 1998 Hondas driving out there. Doesn’t mean it’s modern
Depends what you’re comparing that 1998 Honda with.
If it’s a 2026 BMW, sure, the ‘98 Honda seems a bit old and worn.
But if it’s a 1620 sub designed by Cornelis Drebbel, well, that 1998 Honda is looking real modern.
But if it’s a 1620 sub designed by Cornelis Drebbel
That’s a pull
He will never be Kevin Love on the Wolves. Rebound giant.
Only players with 30⁄30 points/rebounds: Moses Malone (Rockets, 76ers), Dwight Howard (Hornets) and Kevin Love (Wolves). Dude was a monster in that Wolves team.
Theres so many more than those guys
Bill Russell: 3
Bailey Howell: 1
Elgin Baylor: 2
Bob Pettit: 1
Maurice Stokes: 1
Nate Thurmond: 1
Jerry Lucas: 2
Elvin Hayes: 1
Swen Nater: 1
Moses Malone: 1
Kevin Love: 1
Walt Bellamy: 2
Wilt Chamberlain: 128
Wilt back in the day must have really been some straight bullshit to play against lol
Bill Russell had 30 points and 40 rebounds in Game 7 of the finals. Wilt did it 124 times…
Edit Apparently Wilt did it 136 times
Also Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Willis Reed, Elvin Hayes, Gus Johnson, Nate Thurmond, and Swen Nater all had 30 and 30 as well
I also welcome these comparisons. No one has ever said them about any aspect of my life but you’re welcome to start.
You’re the Kevin Love of collecting vinyls 🙏
i say this to women at bars often
(i am 5’11 and chinese)
You’re 6’ champ 5’11 doesn’t exist
5’11” is a conspiracy to sow division between short kings and tall chads
I’m out here at 5’10.5” saying I am 5’11” and now you’re telling me it ain’t real? Fuck.
5’10.5” club checking in. It’s literally the last height before 6ft
5’11 7⁄8 club checkin in
I’m 5’11 and say I’m 5’9. Ik most women won’t believe me if I give myself the extra inch, but I make the guys who do do that look like tiny liars next to me.
Haha you said do do. Like poop
Im exactly 6’ but I think I should start calling myself 6’1” because of this. Too many awkward moments in my life where dudes claiming to be 6’ tell me I must be taller
No you need to say you’re 5’10 and call those guys liars
i am an honest man
like my ancestors before me
I’m well over 6’ and I tell strangers I’m 5’11” just to combat people like you. It’s a war
Haha yeah I’m not super tall by any means but a legit 6’1”. The amount of 5’10” dudes asking if I’m 6’3 is funny lol
I’m 6’2 and I always say 5’11.5.
People get so mad.
Yeah I’m 6’4” and say I’m 5’11”. It’s a war brother, we are going to get them back for their lies
Lmao never heard of 5’11”
I also love how 5’11” is the new sadly short height they’re saying
5’11 is the new short height?? Who’s saying this, the incel subreddit?
5’11” is short only if you live in Netherlands
Yes it does, it’s all dudes that are almost 5’10”. I would know, I’ve been claiming to be 5’11” for years!
I needed this today😂
Ni hao 🔥🔥
We out here learning mandarin for real
Yao???
holy fuck yao i’m a big fan
Get ready to learn Chinese, honey 😘
it’s a sad world that you being chinese has any negative impact on your dating tbh
Or literally above average height
If you’re in California it’s actually a positive impact sometimes. There are Asian Americans everywhere.
But anywhere else I feel like lots of ppl have negative stereotypes to Chinese since they just don’t interact with them, also politics.
Linsanity
Why you saying Chinese like that 😅
Do you say it in English or Chinese?
Same (5’6 former Mexican)
Former?
Trump annexed Mexico clowb
I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone admit to being 5’11.
You’re either 5’10” or 6’.
Throw in a pick swap and you should be good
NI HOWDYYYY
🎵I could be your #1, I could be your Anthony Bennett, I’ll be your Anthony Bennett 🎵
Tell them you declared for the draft
Ummmmmm you’re Chinese
Speak a lil Chinese for em, Cameron
im ready to do the 2026 redraftables
This isn’t an Earth-shattering take, but the reason why most picks look sus in hindsight is a pretty simple math problem. Going number one overall means you need to fade about 60 draft picks (and countless UDFAs) to justify that selection. Not everyone is Shaq or LeBron.
Just from a probability standpoint, there’s a great chance that some random late lottery or mid-first is going to blow up ala Kawhi, Curry, Jokic, Giannis, Maxey, Hali.
I think you have to go into the draft with the mindset of just getting reasonable value for your draft slot. Even guys like Bogut and Wiggins were relatively decent picks despite not being franchise-altering superstars.
If AJ ends up being a good starting wing, Washington should be able to live with the pick regardless of which superstar they missed. Of course we know hindsight is going to be, “They should’ve taken Wilson” or whatever.
It’s why the Bronny pick at 55 is fine. There’s pretty much no one left
He’s also developed better than I expected so far. Caught one of his USC games, and thought he didn’t look like a kid who should be drafted. Thought the same in his rookie NBA season. But in year 2 his shot has improved quite a bit, he looks more comfortable/less lost on the court, is providing decent defence. He looks reasonably close to legitimately deserving a #10-12ish spot in an NBA rotation, even without nepotism, which is totally fine for a 21 year old 55th overall pick.
It was definitely a nepotism pick, but a lot of people hammered how bad he was at USC without considering the fact he had a heart attack before the season.
If what it takes to keep one of the 2 arguable goats of the sport happy is a throwaway 2nd round pick you do that no questions asked. Fucking Giannis has gotten his brothers employed for how many years now and you’re gonna try to tell me LBJ cant do it for his son?
Yeah he’s already better than a ton of guys ahead of him too
It’s bold to claim you’ll be remembered as the real top pick years from now, time will settle this debate
I believe Boozer will be far and beyond better without question
But didn’t Scoot say something like this a few years back?
[deleted]
Brandon Miller was like I think I’m really good but that dude is 7’6
This sounds hilarious do you have a link
It’s off memory but I remember he was asked if he should be number 1
Found it. He said “I feel like I’m No. 1, but you can’t beat 7’5”, 8-foot wingspan. I mean, the guy’s an animal.”
Sauce: https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10077144-brandon-miller-i-feel-like-im-no-1-in-nba-draft-but-cant-argue-with-wembanyama
What a sensible take from Miller
I think Scoot has game but he’s gotta know there’s level to it
I think to be a top prospect you’re sorta incentivized to purposefully not know it. Objective analysis is a great trait for someone in the media, and useful for role players or guys a ways into their career who failed to meet expectations.
On the other hand, if you’re a top prospect who’s meant to be the lead guard on a NBA team and you don’t believe you at least have an argument for being the best guy in any given room, what are you doing? Guys like that should have irrational confidence, at least at the start of their careers.
Exactly this. The 6th greatest player in the world didn’t get there by believing he was #6.
If you go #3 in the draft it likely means you’ve been The Guy on every team you’ve played on, every tournament you played in, etc etc. Being that good at anything perpetuates and probably requires insane levels of delusion
Undrafted Markquis Nowell proclaimed he’d be the best Raptor of all time before he got injured, never really played and disappeared.
Sixty mistakes ahead of me
Many players say something along these lines. Most players think it. Usually they’ve needed a delusional level of self confidence to get this far. Boozer could very well be correct, though.
Scoot will be better than wemby next season watch
Damn straight.
He said he should be considered for the #1 pick just as much as Wemby lol
Every rookie says this predraft
I will never understand how Kendrick Perkins of all people ended up with a TV gig. Who exactly is he entertaining or informing?
Rumor has it they wanted a different host but Kendrick ate him.
Why doesn’t Ross, the biggest of the Friends, just eat the other Friends?
Kendrick Perkins is the ultimate “I guess we’ll just keep paying him?” guy in the ESPN rotation
He’s supposed to be ESPN’s version of Charles Barkley. Someone with a strong opinion saying dumb/controversial shit. But at least Charles has the accolades to talk his talk…
Looking at how riled up Perkins tends to get this sub, ESPN knows what they are doing. Any attention is good attention in their view.
It also mustn’t be left unsaid, Barkley’s primary appeal to audiences is his humor, which Perkins has none of.
Only thing they have in common is their love for food lol.
Charles says really smart stuff on a regular basis.
I remember him saying about three whole words his entire tenure with OKC. I never would have guessed
That actually checks out with how he is today
God, I liked him better as the strong silent enforcer, and not the high school girl who starts drama
After one season I bet people will say he or Acuff are the best in the draft, after two or three it’ll be Peterson or AJ, and then down the line it’ll be some very high ceiling guy.
>then down the line it’ll be some very high ceiling guy.
No bias detected
I didn’t even say him by name just to not be totally biased lol
To not say any names I’ll just say… Caleb W. No, wait… C Wilson.
CDUBBBB
Wilson
I almost wish we picked later so we wouldnt get shit for drafting Wilson, lowest floor but highest ceiling imo
Dude has that MJ mentality. Keeps a list of ways he feels slighted and uses it to get himself angry before games. Outplayed Boozer, Dybantsa, and Peterson head to head. Already has a sweet midrange shot, and if you try to take it away he’ll just blow by and dunk on you. His upside is immense.
Yeah this motherfucker’s gonna become Kevin Garnett 😂
I really think Caleb Wilson the best player of the draft after their career. That boy got all the KG intangibles.
Ooo I love the KG comp. Dude is a baller
Bro KG my favorite player of all time and i watched Michael Jordan play. When i dream of basketball players. KG is the blueprint. If you pay close attention, all the dominating stretch fours come from that tree…
Could see him, could see Ament, could see some random guy nobody’s thinking of in regards to that.
Ament will be terrible mark my words. No dawg.
Acuff is one of the worst defenders to ever come out of a D1 program
Nobody’s gonna care after one year with his scoring ability. Down the line yes, but Trae Young was seen as a superstar for a while and just got over 50 Mil Per Year.
Trae also averages 11 assists a game in the NBA lmao
And Acuff is a worse defender than he was coming out of college.
Trae went on an ECF run. He was unquestionably the engine of that team too. That’s a hell of a prospect.
We just saw the Knicks win with Brunson at the helm
Some high ceiling guy going fourth overall to the bulls mayhaps?
The answer is yes.
- A UNC fan
I can honestly see it. I’ve been high on him for a bit and seeing everyone on here say he’s gonna suck makes me like him even more lmao
Idk man I never saw it. Every time I watched him I was never impressed. But who am I lol
My most trusted draft guy has Boozer tiered as an all-time great and I can’t really think of a knock against him that isn’t just narrative. His statistical profile is spotless. I understand the whole ceiling thing though.
Who is the guy
SAS
Hahaha
r/nba’s top source at it again 💀
DLee4Three (David Lee, not the former NBA all-star.) Just launched a site, https://thehardwoodcollective.com/.
I have no stake in anything he does, we’re strangers, in case you’re skeptical of my links lol.
Love that website actually lol, I gatekeep it.
wow that’s wild. Caleb Wilson at 2. Aday Mara at 5. Jayden Quaintance at 6. Dailyn Swain at 8
Yeah he’s wayyyy lower on AJ than I am, but I’m just eye test over everything type of guy in general. Has led me wrong many times but I am a “dat boy nice” man in my bones
It’s good to know where you stand as a hype vs statistics guys!
/r/nba needs to more of these resources
His brothers uncles sons father who works at Nintendo
I just don’t see him manhandling NBA players the way he did in the NCAA
6’9 250 can’t do that in the nba? There’s smaller players that have
Also he has incredible footwork and touch around the rim and has a tremendous basketball IQ
I don’t really get where people think he’s just going to be Julius Randle who bulldozes his way into multiple defenders even when it’s not working, he has a multitude of ways to score and impact the game offensively
But also as you said he’s fucking 6’9” and 250 at 18 years old, like he’s still way stronger and bigger than a lot of defenders who will be on him and he will put them into the stanchion
Also even if his comp is Julius Randle but with super high bbiq and tries on defense that is an extremely great player.
I’m really hoping the Jazz get him even though fit is awkward
He is objectively less athletic than Randle. He moves more like Jokic than an actual 4.
Poor basketball IQ and low defensive effort are literally the issues with Julius
Sign me up for this boozer guy
Good chance he still grows a bit if he’s only 18. Could very well grow a few inches by the time he’s 21.
I remember people saying the same thing about Zion Williamson and he came in immediately able to impose his will down low. Zion ofc has his own set of different problems (mostly health and perimeter shooting) but strength hasn’t been one of them, since day one. I can picture Cam being comfortable as a bruiser from day one.
That’s because no one ever projects these stout college players to continue working on their bodies and skillsets. It feels like everyone talks about upside for everyone but bully ball archetypes
There’s plenty of knocks. He’s too slow to guard the perimeter and too short to guard the rim, he’s a defensive liability. He’s a high IQ player, good shooter and rebounder but has shown nothing to indicate he can be a first option creator at the NBA level. If he translates, he’ll be something like prime Domantis Sabonis/Sengun an elite rebounder, offensive hub and spacer but definitely not a good enough offensive engine to lead a contender or even compensate for his defensive weaknesses.
He’s also playing a position where poor defense really hamstrings a team. Just take a look at the roster construction of Finals teams. They all feature stud defenders at that position.
Tatum, Draymond, OG, Chet, Pascal, Giannis, AG, AD etc.
He got his shot blocked a ton in college. I don’t think that will decrease in the pros.
I can’t really think of a knock against him that isn’t just narrative
The lack of on court athleticism is def a knock on him. He’s gonna need to be paired with plus defenders.
The “ceiling” argument doesn’t make much sense at all, the greatest players tend to be the ones who were the most productive at a young age, it just makes sense that most of these players only continue getting a lot better.
What’s he supposed to say?
Please don’t send me to a garbage team like the wizards or jazz
Wizards have the potential to do well this year which feels weirdl to say, Trae young, a promising rookie and AD could do well. Maybe not ECF good but 50 wins would be a start.
Still bummed he won’t be a pacer. Seemed like an ideal fit long term.
Can’t believe our luck.
It really doesn’t matter if he’s right, this is the kind of attitude you want from a lottery pick. He’s talented, confident, and he’s got a chip on his shoulder which motivates him to go out and prove the detractors wrong.
I guess this kind of confirms he’s not going #1. I had thought there was an outside shot.
Best news I’ve heard today.
He’s gonna be the Jayson Tatum of this draft. Jazz and Wiz are high off potential when Boozer is the most legit.
I don’t know enough about the NBA draft, but the only knock I’ve seen of him is athletic ceiling and that feels like a huge green flag to me.
He’s very limited defensively. Not a rim protector at all but not quick enough to defend the perimeter. I think he’ll always be a poor defender. Offensively I think hell be a good #2 or #3 option, but I have a hard time seeing him creating his own shot in the NBA.
A lack of athleticism is usually the #1 reason great college players don’t always become great NBA players. I definitely wouldn’t call it a green flag.
Yep. He was NPOY for a reason
NPOY is not exactly a defining metric at all. Out of the 26 NPOYs this century, let’s even say 22 because Edey and Flagg and Boozer are TBD, there’s only 4 All-NBA players. 4⁄22 is not a good hitrate at all for what’s supposed to be the best coming out of college.
There have only been five freshman NPOYs: Durant, AD, Zion, Flagg, and Boozer. Durant and AD became all-time greats, while Zion and Flagg were viewed as obvious No. 1 picks. That is the kind of historical company Boozer is
would be funny if another non athletic 3rd pick is clearly the best player of the top prospects
Boozer isnt “non athletic “. Why do people keep repeating this?
Because he got outplayed head to head by Caleb Wilson, who was dramatically more athletic than him
thats why Jimmer Fredette was a much better nba player than Kawhi. Because he beat him during college
https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/boxscore/_/gameId/310260252
edit: this dude blocked me because of this rebuttal lmao
“Next year, people will say ‘Doug McDermott NBA Champion’” ~ Doug McDermott when he was drafted by the Chicago Bulls in 2014
Now do Cayden
Tried to, but he just threw the ball to UConn again
Bro hoops like a 37 year old Blake griffin at 18
ngl the modern day Kevin Love comp actually fits. his vision out of the post is legit and that shooting arc is already there. just gotta see if he can guard on the perimeter at the next level
I’ll take Wilson over Boozer 10 times out of 10
Pls tell me you are Danny Ainge
I can’t remember this many rookies having such big talk before their draft
I think he’s right. I think people will say this even this upcoming season, since he’s most likely to be the one ready to hit the ground running in the league.
This will not happen.
maybe it will. i think he should go first right now
why?
Love his confidence but I highly doubt it
Unpopular opinion, he’s got bust written all over him
These questions are kind of odd. What do we expect them to say? “No, I’m probably the 3rd pick because the other 2 are more talented”.
Hell, If i was projected to be a 2nd round pick at 48, I’d probably say the same thing lol.
Well maybe until he goes against Wemby.
He is going to be a bust too small.
