Giannis has 1 playoff series win over the last 5 years. This trade will be a disaster for Miami.
I can’t stress how bad this Giannis trade is for the Heat..
This is a playin team at best with a weak bench. Not a fan!
well, the biggest difference is Doc and Spo. lol
A massively underrated plot in all of this and team cultures
And it’s fucking Giannis. It seems people have forgotten how good dude is
People just forget how horrible Doc is.
I have not
I still can’t believe you guys looked at his Sixers tenure (to say nothing of the rest of his resume) and were like “yep, that’s the guy”
Its the same way I feel about the current President. What could we have done? We all knew it was a nightmare
Should’ve googled him
I never will
I’m very excited to pay attention to Bucks basketball again. Ever since the Doc hire it’s been radioactive with how toxic that dude is. Still can’t believe FO was like “yes, this is the right path to give our generational player another ring”
Are you kidding me? Have you seen his accomplishments? Have you googled him lately?!?!?
/s
Bro was first team last year. He’s been great.
If he’s available. It was really frustrating rarely seeing him play in the playoffs the last few years. I hope he figures out his knee/calf stuff. I will miss having him on the Bucks, but I hope he can stay healthy. The league is a better place when he’s 100%.
The league is “what have you done for me lately” and Giannis ain’t done anything
You mean the one and only “Heat Culture”
I mean considering that was a big reason he wanted to be here, yeah?
Play mediocre basketball and run the team like its 1985
We’ve been one of the most successful teams of the past 30 years lol
Only the Spurs are better. Wonder why…
Warriors?
While I agree that the Warriors have been the better one last 30 years, they rode it off a great like Curry and a somewhat stable team around him, probably Kerr is also the best fit for Curry. But Miami and San Antonio have just kept making it to the finals with different faces on them.
San Antonio had Duncan and now Wemby.
Well you could say Heats had Bron and Wade
So the key success for Longevity is superstar?
Then Giannis it is
c u l t u r e
Way over blow plot point.
“team cultures” as if the bucks haven’t had one of the best records in the league over the past decade.
and bam over myles turner. lots of casual hate for this trade
turner helped indy beat giannis two years in a row though i just don’t think him and Giannis’ styles of play work together… since jimmy left bam hasn’t done anything in the postseason either
Giannis literally didn’t play a minute in 2024, not sure how Turner helped Indy beat him.
tbf, since he left Bam the roster is hot garbage anyway so i dont blame them for that. Like cmon, he has Bam and Herro.
I mean tbf that’s because Bam won’t ever do anything in the postseason as the #1 guy. He’s just a great second or third best player but if he’s the best you’ve got you’re fucked against actual stacked teams
Who’s gonna shoot for Miami??
The next couple undrafted white guys from Creighton who Spo and Bob McAdoo turn into 45 percent 3pt shooters
You do realize that players like Max Strus and Duncan Robinson were gems taken by Miami somewhere?
This is always funny when Miami has been always good at developing random players to sharpshooters. Imagine that plus Giannis and Bam gravity (or stagger their minutes mid game).
Not only shooters, there was tihis guy with white on a side…
I really want to save these threads and see what happens next year. Spo will probably never win coach of the year but I do hope he gets credit if the Heat are actually really good next year. I can definitely see their season going either way, but I think if they end up a 1-2 seed the narrative will be “well of course, they got Giannis” while the reaction right now seems to be that as good as Giannis is, it will be hard to overcome the lack of depth this trade leaves the Heat with.
NBA discourse is annoying because it’s like clockwork for almost everything. Criticize any move and then afterwards act like success was pre-ordained if it works out.
I remember Gobert treated like a trash trade but he’s done well for Minn.
Lots of Knicks moves were mocked.
Nah, health will be the biggest difference.
This post reads like a Trump tweet.
DISASTER FOR THE HEAT. BIG MISTAKE. YUGE
THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER.
A lot of people are saying this is one of the WORST TRADES EVER. A lot of SMART people, including ME! The Miami “Cold” are going to be a DISASTER. MARK MY WORDS.
This turned into a Skip Bayless tweet quickly
The two aren’t so different
A+ post. Couldn’t have done it better myself.
It lacks boosting about his own achievements.
Should have an additional paragraph saying that the Lakers are the GREATEST team of all time and they are gonna make the BEST TRADE DEALS EVER UNLIKE SLEEPY BIDEN HORST! -DJT
ROB PELINKA, A GOOD FRIEND, WAS VERY SMART FOR NOT MAKING THIS DUMB TRADE. BY THE WAY, MANY PEOPLE DON’T KNOW THAT “DUMB” HAS A “B” AT THE END. JUST LIKE “KNOW” REALLY STARTS WITH A “K.” DID YOU KNOW THAT???
THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER
The Miami Heat just made a TERRIBLE deal, maybe the worst in NBA history! They gave away the entire team, Tyler Herro, young star Jaime Jaquez, Kel’el Ware, and a mountain of draft picks, for Giannis, who played only 36 games last season! Totally desperate!
If I were running the Heat, I would have gotten Giannis for half that price, plus three more picks. Nobody does deals better than me, nobody! I make the greatest deals, everyone says so!
Instead, Miami has NO DEPTH, zero shooting, and no bench whatsoever. Pat Riley and Erik Spoelstra have completely lost their magic touch. Sad! You can’t win championships when you give away all your assets for an injured player. The Celtics are laughing! A total disaster for Miami, folks! MAKE MIAMI GREAT AGAIN!
This is more coherent than anything Trump has ever written and isn’t written in all caps.
This is way too coherent
Trump burner account confirmed. Could be the greatest burner account in history! Many experts agree! Thank you for your attention to this matter! DJT
The “not a fan!” At the end seals it
Needs more random capitalization
Sad!
THEY VANDALIZED THE REFLECTING GIAANIS
“Not a fan!”
We can tell that.
You have a Lakers flair.
Not just the flair, their username is LakersFanBunchOfNumbers
LakersFan2323 must have been taken.
LIke an eternity ago I vividly remember playing a Halo 3 game with Patriots_Fan98736 or some really long string of numbers and the other team having a guy named GoBengals2. And I just kept laughing at the idea there were several thousand patriot fans with xbox live usernames and 2 Bengals fans.
LakersFanLebronKobe i think
It’s amazing to see how much influence Trump has on how people use social media these days.
Sleepy (crooked) Pat has just made the worst trade in the history of trades, maybe ever
It’s a real shame that fat sack of lard is a giant fucking asshole, because if he wasn’t, he’d just be hilarious.
It really is understated just how much his presence on social media influenced his rise to the presidency.
I saw a Twitter thread a few months ago about all the “Trump-isms” that are widely used now and it was almost astonishing how many of his stupid phonetic quirks have become commonplace on social media.
“Not a fan” has been a thing long before Trump had influence over people
interesting cut-off point
Five years is a perfectly reasonable cut off point? I highly doubt making it six years would anything of note since its unlikely he did anything important in 2021, if the last 5 years are to bw believed
You had me in the first half, not gonna lie
The Heat have more finals appearances in the last 5 seasons, surely Giannis is the missing piece!
So you’re saying it’s a good trade for the Bucks?
I think the Bucks fleeced the heat in this trade.
i still think bostons deal was better
have to think that they would’ve got a significant package just from flipping Brown.
do you think Brown could be flipped for Giannis
No but maybe trade picks that could turn into Giannis
Those picks could be anything. They could even be a boat!
If they could’ve done it, they would have taken him. Clearly no one was that interested in Brown. It’s not like the Bucks wouldn’t have asked around.
It’s wild people don’t understand this
No, the Bucks wouldn’t be interested in Brown. This is a complete reset for them. They’d have traded Brown the second he arrived for more stuff. They’ll be ditching Herro immediately I’m assuming. We won’t know how this trade truly pans out for a while, but I feel like the Bucks “won” this thing.
It’s going to be a very painful reset with no control of their own picks through 2031.
Heats offered more draft capital and younger players. Boston’s package sucked.
BOS package was the best they could’ve got. Brown could’ve gotten them into the playoffs or at least given them a huge pick haul.
But instead they made a tanking trade and still don’t own their picks, which is insane lol.
At least they could’ve had brown to get their picks back from us or ATL, so that they could benefit from their own imminent assness. But now they have nothing to interest either of us, especially now that they so heavily increased the value of those picks of theirs we own.
You don’t want to own your own trades if you’re tanking anymore in theory. I agree the Boston trade is a better value (how much better depends on what they can get for Herro) but not owning our own picks just means they have no reason to try to not be complete ass anymore.
If you don’t own your picks there’s no point in tanking it’s the opposite of what you’re saying
Still think Herro has value if you reroute him to a team like Detroit looking for a guard to pair with Cade. And if the Pistons are trying to avoid a massive overpay for Duren they could try to S&T Duren and attach LeVert and a couple 1sts (including this year’s draft) and a 2nd for Herro and Turner (no idea if the money works or if it’s allowed).
They are not getting rid of Herro. He’s a hometown kid who the fans will come see during our tank season in Milwaukee
Home town kid that flipped playing at badgers for Kentucky. That narrative isn’t going to move a needle. It’s more his offensive play that may be a bigger argument. But do they really need both green and hero?
Tyler Herro is not selling tickets lol some around here might think it’s cool that he’s playing for the Bucks, but not enough to buy tickets. Most won’t give a damn. And there’s still a large group of people around here that actively dislike him. If they cam get a decent return, they would absolutely move him
If he plays like the All-Star that he is, he will be forgiven. Not too many hometown WI players in the NBA, and the Bucks will have nothing else going on next year. No more Cream City, we will be Tank City
They get to draft at 13 today and they have more young players to use. For the immediate future Heats had the better package. If Celtics were serious they couldve done a 3 way trade.
The sub is constantly glazing Brown as a legendary player throughout these hypothetical scenarios with Giannis. He is a good player. He had a best year on a great supporting cast team. But acting like he’s LeBron willing his scrub team to the playoffs is crazy. So acting like he would/could do that in Milwaukee is also crazy.
Time judges these trades anyway, all of us just constantly overreact. Bucks and Miami aren’t done anyway, for starters.
Honestly I see the Celtics having better years for the short term. Brown and Tatum are a championship duo. Build around those two and they can make another finals. Their window isn’t closed yet
Yeah I’m biased but this is where I’m at. I don’t get it
So many of the Bucks fans are mad at Giannis, but I’m more than thankful because he had all the leverage and chose not to use it.
He could’ve made it so that the Bucks got next to nothing, but instead they got the whole of the Heat minus Bam and Spo.
Good guy Giannis wanted to leave on good terms with you guys.
I think they’re both losers
aint that lovely
We’re the biggest winners lol
We did not get enough when a guy like Desmond Bane goes for 4 first round picks
We got more.
We got 3 firsts, a swap and their last 3 first round picks.
Could potentially even flip someone like Herro for additional assets from someone like Detroit
Well they may have been able to had they traded him at the deadline to the Warriors (all their 1sts and swaps + players) or had they traded him before last season…or before the season before that. But also that Bane deal was just a whole different set of circumstances mainly that Bane is much younger than Giannis.
Yeah, this trade seems dumb as fuck for the Heat.
I think the draft picks are where the value is. Otherwise the way the NBA salary structure works, they are going to have to pay or lose these other guys (mid tier guys are overpaid in this league). Reminds me of the AD Laker trade. 3-4 mid tier guys/picks, you don’t win without a Tier 1A player.
It’s a good trade for the blazers. We will watch the bucks with interest
You got half their team. Yea I think it’s a good trade lol
The best player we gave up was Tyler herro lol. Half of our 10th seeded team
With spolstra as the coach lol. They won’t be as well coached in MIL
I think people heavily overrating how good Herro is lol and it seemed like Heat fans soured on Jacquez after his rookie year
No there’s just a bunch of morons in this sub. Literally 12 hours ago this was a hilariously bad trade package that will never get accepted.
Now all of a sudden Milwaukee won the trade and the Heat have made huge mistake. People just don’t like the Heat and and they don’t like Giannis is my take away
Jaime had a sophomore slump but he came around last year
Everyone knows their team is carried by Eric spo. He can bring in random shit and turn them to elite players. Normally people who leave turn to ass —-> Gabe Vincent and whoever
Gabe had injuries. Duncan Robinson and Max Strus have remained productive role players.
It’s rarely a good deal when you’re trading the best player in a trade but it’s nice that they gave themselves the optionality to find the next corner stone of the franchise in this trade. The other option wasn’t gonna end well.
Have you watched the heat
How many times have those fuckers gotta make deep underdog playoff runs before people recognise it’s not a fluke lol.
Elite coaching, systems, and player development don’t make headlines, but they make for great basketball teams, and heat are the clear exhibit A for the whole league to learn from.
I don’t get why people think teams should just accept being “good” instead of trying to be great (provided a few things go their way). Of course the Heat are much more top heavy now but they have a chance to be a contender.
Exactly. I love Tyler and always will but him as our best offensive player was never going to get us anywhere. Exhanching him and a few others for a top 3 player in the league is a no brainer. Plus we still have Bam and a solid starting 5. People are truly underestimating how good this can be for us with a solid free agency and hitting on a second round pick. Which we always find a way to do.
People will never learn when it comes to the heat and Spo lmfao. All these threads and reactions are gonna look so fuckin funny I’m sure of it. They might not win a championship but they’ll be one of the best teams in the east for a while.
I have no idea how tf anyone can think them trading for Giannis was a bad move. What was the good move? Trading away Bam for picks and rebuilding around Ware, Herro, and JJJ? Like what lol
Right. People thought lillard was the key at getting things going again and look how that turned out. Good defensive starting five coupled with coaching that had a pulse could make heat surprise success despite on paper needing a lot more still.
They’ll likely pull a rabbit out of a hat with the little cap space they have to make this roster much better than bucks were last year. And not coached by… doc
Since losing Butler they’ve finished 8th 8th and 10th and not made it out of the first round.
Wow since losing their only top 25 player they’re not making finals runs anymore, shocking.
No one expects any team to be good every single year with no rebuild/retool years, but when the heat have a team built to win, they’re more often than not going beyond expectations. See how they go in the next couple seasons now they’re back in win-now mode.
Shut up with your stats nerd we’re circle jerking about spo
Let’s be real. No one here watches the games
Hmmm it’s not like injuries and poor roster construction happened
I don’t think the Dame trade can be considered poor roster construction. Just didn’t work out and that’s when it really went downhill
People simply thought Dame and Giannis was going to be Curry and KD.
At least thats what my friends thought.
Your friends are morons then, that comparison doesn’t make any sense lol.
yeah that’s why he’s a bad trade lol
Bro he’s been injured
24 was the only concerning injury. ‘23 wasn’t a wear and tear/age injury and otherwise he’s been pretty average in terms of games played.
I think people conflate the Bucks injury issues and Giannis’ injury issues when he hasn’t really been that bad.
If im not mistaken too he was shut down at the end last year for better lottery odds and tension with the org, he wanted to play those last 15-20 games or whatever it was
It’s now pretty clear that Giannis didn’t give a shit about last year at all. He’s been done with the Bucks since Dame got hurt. I wouldn’t be shocked if he plays 70 games the next two years and the injury conversation looks ridiculous in hindsight.
Inuries are wild and unpredictable but we handle them well too. Jimmy really started to age with us and the staff did great resting him through the season so he could do what he did in the playoffs, Im hoping for more of the same here.
It’s hard to say if he was actually 100% at the end of last year because he refused to go through the final steps of rehab. He just wanted us to trust him that he was healthy, which is why the NBA investigation sided with Milwaukee
exactly. every single year
magically, giannis will never have calf tightness again
sike
The entire league deals with injuries. Especially in the 2020s. At some point its a league problem and not a player problem
That’s the point
Not every year lol
Just three out of the last four. Not that that isn’t alarming in itself.
It’s definitely alarming, atleast the tailbone injury against the Heat was just a fall & basketball play. The calf strains are worrisome though
And will likely continue to be, unfortunately
The Heat were definitely a contender before this and gonna go super far with all their role players, so you’re super right OP. Crazy they would want to raise their ceiling with a Giannis Bam Powell core, are they dumb? Why do that when you can lose in the play-in every year?
When were the Heat contenders?
Username checks out
Lmao adding norm into a big 3 with bam and giannis is hilarious
r/nba fans been waiting months to give their dog-shit takes again
Seen someone say the current Heat team is worse than the current Bucks team and knew this sub was being irrational.
Also saw someone say Wiggins was one of the biggest busts for a 1st Overall pick and I was confused about how they came to that conclusion.
I think people are underestimating the Spo factor, as long as Giannis remains healthy I trust him to figure this roster out.
Dead reddit comment box…
He came here for heat lol
Or he could stay healthy and they are an elite team
Giannis and Bam, with Davion Mitchell at point of attack and Spo as coach, should be a top 3 defence in the NBA if healthy.
The “they gutted their roster” comments are super baffling. Giannis, Bam, Norm, Davion, Wiggins, Larsson, Jovic, Portis. Fonteccio and Dru Smith will eat some minutes in the regular season. That should be a top 4 seed in the LEast and every chance for some playoff runs. Lots of battle tested guys.
Big men notoriously stay more healthy as they age
Spo about to grab 4 dudes out of LA fitness and get a top 4 seed in the East.
Yes yes, just like trading Jimmy was a bad move, blah blah blah.
The Miami Heat isn’t a dysfunctional franchise and they rarely make poor decisions. This is our best shot at getting out of the play in purgatory. Trust in Spo.
Im already slow stroking it to giannis in a heat jersey, dont ruin the mood
It’s two trades, the heat got a 25 million dollar exception too. Great trade and they’ll add more pieces.
The biggest issue is the question of his health. The last five years he’s had way too many injuries.
I don’t think it’s as big a deal as people make it out to be. He’s played a pretty average number of games and had an injury in ‘23 that could’ve happened to any player. Missing ‘24 playoffs was concerning but he still played 70 games that year and followed it up with a great ‘25 campaign where he didn’t appear to be missing a step at and played an above average number of games and dominated on an individual level in the playoffs.
I don’t disagree but it’s still the biggest issue especially with his age. I overall think this is a very good trade for the Heat but they still lack a PG.
Great trade for the Bucks, Pat got his guy, that’s all he wanted before he dies.
He’s been injured, plus he’s pretty much demonstrated that he’s been reserving himself, he barely put in effort in some games, and most importantly… Doc Rivers.
yep, people forget how uninspiring it can be to goto the locker room to game plan with Rivers, Kuzma, and Kevin porter Jr.
now you’re in the heat culture with Riley, Spo, Bam, Powell. Really solid role players like Mitchell and wiggins, portis and I bet even Gardner will be one of those heat stand out developments. trade jovic for more depth and they have a dangerous squad
Incredible how easily yall dismiss the Heat front office and Spo. You don’t remember doing this same song and dance when we got Jimmy and everyone called us a bad team anyway? In Pat we trust.
I love Giannis. It’s been a joy to watch him play through the years.
That being said, I’ve argued with people until I was blue in the face about my Hornets trying to trade for him. A $50+ million per season player who is on the wrong side of 30, is not a shooter, who relies on his athleticism while starting to consistently pick up nagging leg injuries every season? No thanks. Let the Heat give up the farm for him.
Glad it worked out the way it did. Very curious how the Heat flesh out the rest of the team. I think Colin Sexton would be a good fit there.
Sounds like your describing Donovan Mitchell and I hope the Cavs don’t make the wrong decision too
You saying the Timberwolves are contenders? They won multiple series no?
Thank goodness you figured it out. Let me email the Heat right away!
Neutral fan. Not saying the Heat will be contenders but they weren’t going anywhere with that team anyways. How many years in the play-in has it been now? They needed to take a chance. I’m sure they will replace the players lost with vets on minimum deals.
This post reminds me of when I went in the 49ers sub saying what an absolutely dumb move it was to trade for Christian McCaffrey.
That trade was a 2nd 3rd and 4th rounder if I recall. It didn’t gut the 49ers roster and every 1 st round pick. So even if that trade backfired , the 49ers future wasn’t completely screwed . This package here could absolutely screw the heats future if this doesn’t work out
Still has a ring.
I think people are going to be surprised when the heat roster rounds out and they actually are a solid 4-6 quality playoff seed. They likely were never going to get to that level in the next few seasons. And there is always a chance they find a couple diamond in the rough types that make them dangerous in a weak east
60% of NBA fans don’t realize that basketball is a team sport
RemindMe! 1 year
Not a Heat fan by any means, but Spoelstra is likely going to make a team of no name players look amazing around Giannis and Bam next season.
high quality bait
So? Bucks made a good trade and we got an MVP player so what lol
So Giannis running mates are who? Seems like he just changed locations
lol imagine going into the locker roomand game planning with doc rivers, Kyle Kuzma, and kevin porter Jr.
Now you have a great culture/system with Riley, Spo leading the or organization.
A team committed to elite defense which will set a nice floor with Bam, Giannis, Powell, Wiggins, Mitchel one of the best point of attack perimeter defenders. Portis Jr and Gardner(watch for him this season) and I’d trade jovic and his 16 million for veteran depth
You’re either 12 or 80
Plot twust. Lebron reconciles with Pat and signs for veteran minimum…
The homeless guy I was speaking to 10 minutes ago is a big fan of the trade, their 2 cents is as valuable as yours.
Can you blame him doc was his coach
Bam and Jimmy can take us to two finals but a better bam and still in his prime Giannis can’t… sybau.
Lol ok
Has he confirmed he’s signing an extension? Or will he wait and see how the season goes lmao?
Time will tell. Some ppl express total certainty that this is a disastrous trade. However, that opinion is very dismissive and in contradiction to what proven, legendary basketball professionals like Riley -Spo think that is better for their team. Giannis is an all time great, with less injury concerns for the future without the need for an Atlasean carry job like the one he was obliged to perform as a Buck in every single game.
But it will sell a lot of merch
And that is all Miami FO cares about
Gutting your roster and draft capital to shoehorn an aging, injury prone big man into a lineup with no shooting works all the time!
Isn’t 2021 5 years ago? Pretty sure they had 4 series wins that year. They didn’t win the title until July 20th of 2021.
My man just wanted to finish his career in the sun. lol
Maybe they’re hoping that Miami being a desirable place to live plus giannis will attract some free agents.
I agree, the heat as currently constructed isn’t going to do shit
2022 Middleton tore his ACL in ECSF 2023 Giannis back problems after game 1 1st rd 2024 Giannis calf strain kept him out 1st rd 2025 Lillard tore his Achilles / Pacers goin crazy 2026 Stinky roster no playoffs
Their current roster was going nowhere, this at least is something - certainly not a disaster
Can’t believe they didn’t run it by you before finalizing the trade! Rookie mistake thats going to bite them in the ass.
