I actually took it as brad looking at wemby on the spurs and the bigs around the league and realising the celtics have nothing to even remotely match some of these other bigs.

I mean, I’m definitely on board with the idea that in theory they have no pathway to building another Brown/Tatum contender without some outsized development from their late draft picks; I thought their best versions of those teams were deep, especially at center, and this version really isn’t. To make it about the Knicks is crazy though.

This would make SOME sense to say if the Celtics actually played the Knicks this year, but that didn’t even happen… so it sounds absolutely stupid to say.

The Knicks team was structured to beat the Celtics. This shouldnt be surprising. The question is how do you also prepare for the West. Giannis is the obvious answer. I just think they’re going to realize that Tatum is the problem that caps their potential. 

For the Spurs, I could totally see them take a step back because the rest of the league has figured out how to push Wemby around and create more opportunities for jump shooters. Wemby has a lot of work to do to after getting exposed.

Also, I’m pretty sure the Celtics announced to the world that they weren’t good enough to beat the Knicks when a better Celtics team failed to beat a worse Knicks team in 2025, and once again this year when they lost to the 76ers, who would go on to get swept by the Knicks.
