Hornets were 2 games back from being the 4th seed. Giannis with Ball, Kon, and Miller pushes them from playin team to a Top 5 team in the east. Hornets also have the more favorable draft capital to add into a deal.
Plus the Hornets already have Ball locked up and Kon is on a rookie deal for a while. So the Hornets could make more FA additions to add around their core before they need to start paying more of their young guys.

I’d trade Ball & assets for Giannis in a heartbeat if I were the Hornets but I’m not sure if Milwaukee is that stupid.
Ball is our best player by basically every metric. We lost the minutes with Kon and Miller without Ball this year.
The most likely trade package would’ve been Bridges, Salaun, Kalk, 14, 18, and more picks. But I do agree that the players in their package would be weak. And since the Bucks appear more interested in Celtics offer with less picks vs Heat package with more picks, the Hornets package becomes unappealing without Ball or Miller being included.
To match what Boston or Miami is already reportedly willing to give up they would have to trade at least 2 of those guys to have a shot. The only team that makes sense in this is Boston since everyone seems to get what they want/need. Giannis won’t commit to Charlotte/Portland for a reason, those teams historically don’t like to spend money to build championship teams, it will be Milwaukee all over again.

And the bottom line is that Giannis has said he’d resign in Miami. He’s never said that about Charlotte, so – to go back to my original point – I’m not sure why you feel so cocky saying that Giannis would resign in Charlotte.
