They do have 9 first rounders over the next 7 years and possibly more picks incoming if they move sabonis . And If the kings return to relevancy it won’t be because they draft good in the 2nd round . Every once in a blue moon you can strike gold in the second round . But the majority of players drafted in the second round are cheap end of bench roster fillers . You’re lucky if you make it to your second contract .

However with how bad the kings are those 2nd round picks could be viewed as late first round picks and it really is a shame they don’t have them

They can just call a team up an buy second round picks. Teams don’t treat second round picks like they are worth much of anything.

And with only two rounds, a team with good scouting can do just as well picking up undrafted guys as they could picking in the second round.

I mean ultimately 2nd round picks aren’t that big of a deal. They’re useful to grease the skids on some trades or to get some bench rotation players be
but you can easily get them too. Other teams have less 2nd rounders, like the Suns.

It also is unfortunate that they mostly haven’t worked out. I actually thought the Laravia was fine because we clearly needed another wing. The others weren’t good.

To be completely fair 2nd round picks were worthless most of the last 25 years in the NBA.Traditionally you would take a flyer on some random player or some overseas guy claiming his rights. These players rarely made the roster. 2nds were like the 7th round in the NFL. These guys don’t make the roster but can stay on the practice squad. It’s only been within the last five years that people have utilized the second round pics in a more productive way with the metrics and the apron plays a factor too. it’s also been used as trade asset so they’ve actually gained in value tremendously over the past two years.

Remember when Duarte scored 19 points a game his rookie year at least Monty Tried. Should have grabbed one of them wings like OG or Paskal. Screw Fox and Rich Paul just doin too much. Screw Vivek daughter who was also obsessed with Levine. Should’ve went all picks or figured out a way to send castle which I heard was actually on the table, I was told he was untouchable at the time. Yeah Monty was dancing around the luxury tax aback and forth

It’s rare to find a useful player in the 2nd round. And the Kings have never had a great front office to find those diamonds in the rough. So I don’t think they’re worse off. They’ll be able to buy 2nd round picks if they want.
