14 Years Ago Today - OKC’s Big 3 Played Their Final Game Together
man that 2012 team was something else. people forget harden was putting up 16 a night as the 6th man, still wonder what happens if they pay him
they get at least 1
Especially since the strip club scene is abysmal in OKC.
No lie we used to have a place called fantasy island. There was a literal peg-leg stripper that had dudes snorting coke off her ass.
If that’s not service idk what is.
Did it have a buffet?
[deleted]
Or just share a bump or two with them.
Absolutely no lies told. Especially in 2012. shudders
This is why yall lost in 2012, Miami strip clubs had Harden in another world
It’s the game behind the game that really decides a series.
This timeline ain’t so bad. We probably get forced to tank and end up w..
Anthony Bennett
I don’t think so. Bron out East. In the West; Spurs/LAC/Mem is there and even if they stayed until the 2016 season, GSW is now there.
Healthy Russ and KD were a lock for the WCF. They did very well with a thin bench through the remainder of their years together. Harden basically addressed what they lacked, he gives secondary/tertiary guardplay, playmaking, scoring, spacing.
He would’ve probably started to get starting minutes or more evenly shared time with westbrook.
Wasnt it basically a lock that he would be the starting 2 guard going forward?
Pretty much yea
They were up on the warriors without Harden, they could easily beat them in 2016 with Harden.
Then Durant never goes to GSW
Harden almost beat him with just CP as well.
We wlll never know
if only we had a time machine
Doubt
14 years ago…russ/kd/harden were all young and now Russ is considered washed, harden is still good but can’t win the playoffs anymore, and we somehow just now discovered that if you double team KD he turns into Mo Speights.
And yet Bron, who had been in the league for NINE years already in this clip, is still avging 21/6/7 on + 50% shooting.
Fucking bonkers
Calling KD Mo Speights is a crazy hyperbole and blows up your entire post lol
Hahaha. I just always remember when Mo Speights would catch the ball away from the basket he would pick up his dribble and freeze. It’s the best KD diss I can manage for this weird double team thing where all of a sudden he can’t pass.
It’s been a thing his whole career. He’s too baked. Don’t bring anything extra on him or he acts like 2k just glitched out. Why he never won a damn thing by himself.
It’s funny that he dropped that stat line like it’s otherworldly (it is) while slandering KD even though he averaged 26/5/5 on 41/52/87 splits
Bro KD had better numbers than Bron this year but he’s Mo Speights now?
you not listening
Bro turned this video into a Bron glaze. That’s talent!
hes in half the video lol
Harden could never win in the playoffs.
He legit beat the spurs in the western conference finals that year. They couldn’t fuck with him when he came in off the bench. Not to mention the big 3 he hit in kawhis face in game 6 of that series. He did his part that series
it obviously doesn’t justify OKC being a cheap dumbass, but Harden was partying his ass off in Miami during the Finals so people think that’s a part of the reason he stunk it up and why OKC didn’t want to commit to him
I’m sure that was part of it, but also Harden wanted to be the guy on his own team, and that wasn’t possible with Durant and Westbrook already there. And Harden proved it by starting out on fire with that Rockets team in his first season there.
The difference in negotiations was 4 mil right? and Presti just gave Harden only a couple hours to consider the offer? Combined with all the gassing up the 2012 olympic team did to that okc core lol
Is that where the rumors of Kobe Bryant subversion during the USA team occured ?
Kobe knew…OKC’s downfall was letting Russ cook
dude attempted more shots in Finals than KD, Harden, Wade, Lebron and Bosh while having the worst efficiency of all of them
yeah i remember the old heads on that team gassing up russ and harden
I’m sure he did but he still would’ve taken the contract if OKC just gave him the max
No they could have kept him but paid Kendrick Perkins instead.
I mean didnt Bosh straight up say they were most fixated on shutting Harden down?
For a 6th man new to the league, i always felt he just wasnt ready for that kind of coverage
Breaking: top 20 prospect out of high school who willingly chooses ASU likes to party.
If they knew ANYTHING about ASU they would’ve expected this fate
Harden is a losing basketball player
KD was too content, he needed a team with an underdog personality!
And that team was the 2016 warriors baby!!!
Absolutely insane that they break up a trio like that the year they make the finals. And it was over a few million dollars.
I legitimately can’t believe they never got it together long enough to get a ring. They were such a force
This team is why I will never blindly believe a young team/player “will be back”. Too many things can go wrong that have nothing to do with the on court product.
Youth is not inevitable.
Spurs are a perfect example rn. Wemby can get hurt, Fox’s contract may royally fuck them in the ass, and Harper is already itching to start
nah Spurs are making it to the finals in the next three years
14 years is crazy
That OKC squad could have won so much.
Unfortunately LBJ and the Heatles existed
They beat them 1 time. And they, like the Spurs this year, were young af. Unfortunately their cheap ass owner existed.
Harden is a losing basketball player. Nothing was lost
Took the KD Warriors to 7, but sure
Sure, I’m not about to sit here and argue that. I think Brick is even more of a losing player. A team like that I’d like to see Harden as the primary ball handler and KD the primary finisher. But we all know how that’ll go.
It’s funny that you’re getting downvoted when out of the 3 unstoppable stars of this core, the only rings that were won were by KD running to the most loaded team in league history.
Most of the time you can’t have a serious basketball conversation on this sub. Notice the downvotes but no counterpoints?
Watching this makes me remember why ppl were pissed Wemby walked out
Looking back on this makes me wish the 2026 Spurs don’t turn out like how the 2012 Thunder later did
Lemarcus Aldridge was son young and white back then.
But seriously damn that bit three was young af.
That means most of us are all old AF now.
“Lets run it back next year guys”
You say Big 3 but I can’t see Captain Perk anywhere
Damn the finals ended late af
Lockout season
This was so mad at the time, they reverse swept the Spurs and was one KD foul call away from being 2-0 on the Heat. Harden also had one year left on his rookie contract, still don’t understand the choice to not run it back it’s not like they got a treasure trove for Harden.
Sad
Harden in 2012 wasn’t Harden in 2015. Relax
Idk why but Harden having his arms draped around them has always annoyed me. Especially after how ass he was during the finals (shocker)
Harden comforting his 2 close friends in the biggest disappointment of their career bothers you?
TBF most people would take a playoff loss and learn from it. Harden is kinda weird to how he always gets worse
His toes got worse
Is this the one where Lebron fouled KD at the end of the game and they didn’t call shit ?
Looks like it. LeBron literally hugs KD and they didn’t call anything!
