I had a cab driver in Nassau Bahamas tell me Charles Oakley was the biggest asshole of all the high profile athletes that he had ever met.   That’s really saying something.

Idk about other peoples interactions with him, but I’ve heard my dad repeat the following one about Ewing.

Ewing was a guest on a late night talk show back in the late 90s, my guess would be Letterman as that’s where my father worked as a union stagehand. So Ewings there, dads not far away but doesn’t interact (probably high asf on coke tbh; stagehand work was a fucking scene at the time) but some parent and their kid go up to Ewing, kid obviously sick with something and holding a basketball. He asks Ewing to sign it for him, and Ewing brushes him off, saying loud enough for my dad to hear that the specific basketball the kid has isn’t the company he is sponsored by. And walked away. My father said he was stunned, as were the parent and kid who were just standing there in shock for a minute.

I have no way to verify the legitimacy of this story, but I have no reason to NOT believe my pops.

Oakley himself caused enough shit all the time anyways, if he was really asked to take the blame for something that happened he likely had some involvement in it anyways lol

I saw Ewing like 3 years ago at a smallish restaurant where he was 2 tables away from us, he with someone else minding their own business and I saw maybe 5 little kids, their parents, and like 20 individual adults go up to him at various points of the night and man, he didn’t turn a single person down, and every person who talked to him left with a huge smile on their face. Man barely had a chance to eat his food and talk to his friend. He was also super kind to his waiter.

I’ve never heard anything about ewing but there are a lot of stories out there about oakleybeing a massive bully in the locker room.
