He is going to do exactly what you want your President to do, he’s going to clean up the sloppy parts of the organization. The Mavs going back to Cuban have at times looked like a frat house. Kidd as a coach had a long history of doing unprofessional shit. Masai, if nothing else, is a pro. He’s a gifted communicator and will be a great face for the franchise, meanwhile behind the scenes he’s going to improve analytics and training methods. The Raps became a much much smarter organization under Masai.

He’s also classically been more conservative than his overall image. People remember the Melo trade with Denver and the Kawhi trade but those are the exceptions not the norm. Raptors fans were always calling for more aggressive moves, because that’s what fans do. He believes in team development and with the Raps he believed in the players on the team sometimes to a fault.

It’s funny to me that the media is now pointing at Pascal and OG in the finals and Fred/Norm as key playoff performers and forgetting that the same people were killing the Raps for not trading the championship pieces sooner.

They’re had been studies done on drafting quality for each management and Raptors and heat were by far the best in the league. Masai started as a scout so he himself has history, but I’m not sure how much is the team around him as well as himself. Just moving into the Mavs management now means he’s got a whole new shooting staff so who knows now. But he’s a legend to Raptors fans.

The Mavs probably would like the 2028 swap back from the Thunder. 9 for 12 and the 2028 swap? The Thunder also have shown some interest in PJ Washington and Topic would make a lot of sense in Dallas.

That pick is weird because it has very low value for everyone else but it would be very valuable in a trade to GS. Would unlock all picks for the post-Steph era if they want to move. This is one avenue I would like Dallas to pursue - swing high, try to get Moody in a trade down and offer the pick back. Worse case scenario is a “lol no”.
