He been CPOY in the playoffs literally the last two years. They won games they had no business winning just due to his sheer talent of scoring under pressure.

It’s also possible that teams see what the Knicks did to neutralize him throughout the finals and he could be less effective in coming years because he’s now a target (similar to hack a Shaq). He already said he’s not going to gain muscle so that could be used against him. The future is always uncertain.

I think Knicks winning the chip gave the cup a little bit more legitamicy. Players care about the bonus money for the guys further down the bench, but still missing a fan insensitive. I think the winning team should get like an extra 2nd round pick at the end of the round. It’s not much, but it is an asset that can be used to better the team and be attributed to the cup

I predict the NBA Cup will only gain in prestige. May take 10-15 years, but I think it will become an accolade and deliver us some great moments during the knockout stage.

Rings are hard to come by, I think winning it is an extra feather in the cap.

I’m glad the Knicks won. Hopefully their success yet again shows more fans (and front offices) that there’s multiple ways to build a champion. They went on a great run, truly impressive to see how often and consistently they were able to come back from seemingly impossible deficits. Doesn’t change that the fans are mad goofy.
