Josh Hart says the Spurs not giving them credit for their wins throughout the Finals fueled them even more
“And I took that personally” - Michael Jordan
- Josh Hart
“Fuck them kids Spurs”
-Josh Hart (cont.)
They’re a young enough team where the original could still work
I am a fan of Jordan saying that shit so much but it’s hard to incorporate into any punch lines unless the context is fully known to an audience, else “fuck them kids” would be a part of my daily vernacular.
*-Karl Malone-
-Michael Scott
Wemby talking about himself 24⁄7 probably helped.
“I don’t even have to play well, I just have to play normal and we win!”
- guy who couldn’t play normal
How do you expect a guy to play well when the Knicks keep fouling him and jumping on his foot when they take shots. /s
Choked multiple 15+ pt leads
Exposed himself as a choker who couldn’t even play normal. Make some clutch FT’s. Make a clutch shot. Grab a 4th quarter rebound. Nope, nowhere to be found when BRUNSON took over. Knicks in 5, cry more
He’s 22 years old guy 😂 my good lord
Nah you can’t have it both ways. He has been lauded as mature beyond his years and is already the leader of that organization. Then he goes out there and not only busts as a player but also plays legitimately dirty and acts like a sore loser on and off the court. Can’t be both. Maybe he matures but you had one team talking about the selflessness and sacrifice it took to win and Wemby was saying me me me the whole time.
“Oh, his discipline. He trained with the monks…”
It’s part of the coddling Wemby receives lol. All success is put on his talent, skill, and maturity. All failures is “well he’s just 22” years old.
I don’t think it has to be that complicated. He showed a lot of maturity early, people ran a bit far with it, then he reminded us all that he’s only 22 and has a lot of growing to do. Now we adjust our evaluations of him. I feel like it’s unfair to label him as something so lofty (the leader of one of the most well-run organizations in arguably all of sports for the last 30 years) then turn to murder when he predictably can’t meet that expectation. We praise him for showing emotion on the court (tears of joys after wins) but then are shocked and appalled when an emotional kid can’t control his anger and overwhelming need to win (dirty plays, sore losing, etc.)
I don’t blame Wemby very much outside of souring a little because I obviously would rather have him not be a sore loser and a dirty player. I mostly blame fans for hastily anointing him as incredibly mature due to certain traits then being surprised when they realize those same traits go both ways, especially in people as young as Wemby.
He also annointed himself mvp and the face of the league. Sorry, you don’t get to pull the kid card when he’s running around talking like he’s grown all year. He said he was built for this, remember?
He’s a professional athlete making millions playing Basketball. Immaturity isn’t an excuse, he’s been surrounded by the media ever since he was a child. He is supposed to be the face of the league, he is supposed to be a role model for children. So he will be subjected to more scrutiny than others, and rightfully so, especially since he himself readily embraces all the hype surrounding him.
Yall called him best in the world, its better he acts like it
It’s insane coddling. When he wins it’s all about how he’s doing it at just 22. When he loses people use it as a bail out saying he’s just 22.
This is true. Many of us, myself included, were probably much different versions of ourselves at 22 without being hundreds of millions of dollars today, than we are presently. And that should absolutely factor in to our evaluation of Wembanyama.
On the other hand, all we hear about from the media and from Spurs fans is the vaunted Spurs Culture. He couldn’t be drafted by those clueless Blazers or those dipshit Hornets because they’ll mismanage him and he’ll never reach his full potential!
He’s got Popovic, Buford, Mitch, Duncan, Robinson, Manu, Parker, Sean Elliot, George Gervin and many many other Spurs greats at his disposal whenever he needs it. An absolute trove of resources and talent who have not only had a legacy of generational success with big men, but also success without being overly confident to a fault.
I believe that it’s perfectly acceptable to acknowledge that while he’s only 22, that that we should hold him to a higher standard relative to other young players because of the sheer quality of human resources available to him at any given time.
lol spurs culture is on the knife’s edge of getting meme’d like heat culture
22 year old dirty choker tho
Always see the worst takes get upvoted here right after the finals. Guess that’s to be expected when all the kids are on summer break.
“Who do you want to win for?”
“Myself.”
Honestly I thought nobody caught that. When I first seen that interview that quote by him really got me upset.
I appreciated the honesty but I’ve legit never heard somebody answer that question like that. He didn’t even try the ‘oops, too honest; obviously the fans/my teammates/the organization too’ move.
His answers are a lot better in French, so I’m not entirely sure he means to be such an arrogant dick when he answers in English
Well he’s french so arrogance is part and parcel
He’s even more arrogant in French interviews, and I’m not joking at all. Go watch a few. This isn’t a language barrier issue, he knows exactly what he’s saying.
I have watched a bunch. He expresses himself much more clearly and it comes across as much less arrogant to me, but if you feel otherwise that’s cool too
Not even coming as a Knick fan rn, just a ball fan. He acted very arrogant the entire time. At 0 point did he credit anything the Knicks did, anything anyone did , just him. Only him, not even his teammates , just him.
It’s validating to have people finally notice this. Lol. I felt like he was a dirty, arrogant, flopper but felt like I must just be biased. It’s like the entire NBA community decided we were the bad guy and therefore the Spurs were great and Wemby was a hero.
we were seeing some crazy cognitive dissonance during the WCF it made me not want to talk about the good ass hoops we were watching lmao
There was a good long stretch where anytime someone mildly criticized him, their comment got downvoted to oblivion.
His ego is insane.
I know he’s everyone’s darling but this is what turned me off of him early. Because he reads and has different takes he’s automatically some kind of avant?
Get the fuck out of here. And if I hear one more person compare him to Kareem…
same. was shocked to see it didn’t get piled on tbh
dude elbowed another dude in his fucking windpipe after checking to see who it was as hard as he could on live T.V and 85% of the threads in here were nothing but laughs and giggles.
lameleo kinda tripping a dude who was already falling down also tho had everyone in here pissing blood in rage for two days.
reddit just picks and chooses when to be pissy about something while acting like they’re not the biggest hypocrites on the planet.
I’m one of the people who’s kind of a hater about Wemby, but I honestly think this is a culture clash thing—what I’m thinking of is Mirra Andreeva recently saying after a big tennis win “I want to thank myself”, initially meaning it as a joke, but realizing that it meant a lot to her to be able to acknowledge how hard she had worked to bring herself there and continuing to say it in her next few wins. I follow international tennis and Formula 1 and think it’s a little bit more of a cultural trend in those areas in the last few years to go, “I know the media demands that I be humble and self-effacing, but actually, I worked my ass off, and you do actually have to have a lot of ego and confidence to be any good at all, and I shouldn’t have to downplay any of that.” I wouldn’t be surprised if Wemby is aware of that kind of trend, too, and I really respect that as an idea.
That said, a) I think of course that that kind of thing works better in individual sports than team sports, and b) I think that trend goes a little too far in defining “humility” as “putting yourself down” or “not having confidence”—I think real humility isn’t dismissing your own hard work or putting yourself down, it’s making an effort to pay attention to other people’s hard work and hyping other people up. And, much as I would like self-confidence and the desire to meet your own standards to be the most powerful motivating factors in the world, it’s a psychological fact that love is almost unbeatable as a motivator and it’s very, very helpful psychologically to decide you’re playing for someone else.
I generally don’t pay attention when guys give weird answers in their non-naive language, but that one was really stretching it.
“My first answer would be myself,” he said. “I think it doesn’t get more complicated than that.”
is the quote
How he only wanted to win for himself, no one else. Lmao
‘I wanna win for my teammates and the city of San Antonio,’ was right there.
yup. the “myself” is implied. teammates and fans is not. it would have been so easy, and has nothing to do with a language barrier
People keep saying the language barrier as though his English isn’t pristine lol. Plus it’s not like confusing affect and effect or other common issues that even native speakers struggle with.
yes. all signs point to a blurry line between confidence and arrogance. this wasn’t an isolated incident. i
He lost so much aura these playoffs, it’s insane. Constantly disregarding the other team, claiming they “dominated” most of the series, “everybody knows we are gonna turn the series around”, getting away with multiple flagrants because Silver doesn’t want his golden boy to sit out the finals. It would legitimately have been better for his image and his career to lose to the Thunder.
Dude wanted to talk trash like Jordan and Bird, but forgot Jordan and Bird actually backed that shit up on the court, and on the 4th quarter you better believe they’d be locked in.
I was happy he didnt get suspended because folks would’ve used that to discredit the Knicks win
He deserved to get suspended, and for the good of the league, he should have. As for discrediting, if the team who went 16-3 in the playoffs and swept in 2 rounds should be discredited, then might as well go and discredit every championship in the last 20 years lmao.
There was at least 4 flagrants this postseason uncalled on him.
Agreed. And “dominating the entire series” means absolutely nothing if you lose. Guy is immature as hell.
it’s the same energy as analytically winning 2 out of 3.
If he wins his confidence is prophetic. Gah. Such garbage takes.
He’d still be an arrogant asshole, but he’d at least have made good on his boasts. Now he just looks like a clown.
When will wemby realise that basketball is 50% offense too
Wemby always says he was dominating instead of giving the other team their flowers
Which is fine if he actually dominated a game. It was very obvious from even the WCF he was gonna have to dig deep to play a full game and he didn’t show it once. Once he taunted Mitch while up big and still blew the lead, you knew he was mentally cooked
Can’t believe he blew the league
Probably why he was so tired
You’d think he’d have put on some weight consuming all that protein.
Watching the games, he seems like a quitter
Especially since he’s probably gotta like, idk get down on all fours for it. The mechanics of it look exhausting
with his height its not that hard
Wemby was 7-19 in a close out game and disappeared in the 4th… If that’s domination then the Spurs future is in trouble.
He disappeared every 4th
Thats what happens when you can only play 28 minutes.
Yeah, this is the big thing for the Spurs for this season and forwards - Wemby can’t be so gassed in the 4th, but I don’t know if this is not just biology calling in - humans are not supposed to be this tall.
He was to the 4th quarter what Harden was in game 7s
So many excuses in the spurs sub for his choking
They ignore the mistakes the Knicks made but were good enough to over come because they are a much much better team. Kat barely playing in game 5 and being in foul trouble, Hart missing the easy layup to go ahead, bone headed Dolan killing the vibes by inviting the Pedo President, having Dolan as the owner.
It’s like delusional thinking that they were the only team making mistakes. Every team makes mistakes, the good ones over come them, the bad ones with a baguette as their center loses those games.
“The bad ones.”
They deserved to lose this Finals series, but it’s ridiculous to claim they are a bad team.
Bro has a vision problem. Can’t see reality
We don’t expect someone to say they sucked but if they don’t acknowledge reality how can they fix their short comings. The fact is if he was shorter he couldn’t make the NBA. What I saw during the finals wasn’t the NBA defensive player of the year. He looked awkward on the court.
That was kinda what struck me after it was all over. He didn’t really show us a ton of skill or finesse, he mostly just showed us what we already knew: he’s the tallest dude out there. It was the most I’ve gotten to see him play all season and I came away thinking that the people who say he’s better than Jokic or the best in the NBA already are on crack.
Everyone keeps questioning why he doesn’t play more in the paint. After that series it’s clear why he doesn’t, it’s because he can’t and gets dominated and bullied. His outside shooting isn’t good enough to have a Durant like career and his inside game is none existent. I question everyone labeling him potential GOAT.
He’s 22…. When do we ever talk legacy for a dude who’s 22….
The media and the spurs fans do it all the time with him.
I get this is a Wemby criticism thread but statistically, he had DPOY level impact during the Finals. Thinking Basketball logged the Knicks offense when Wemby was on the court and found it dropped 13 pts per 100, which is Ben Wallace level impact.
I think offense, especially in the 4th was his issue. But his defense has generally been top notch
Mitch had to sub him out with 5 minutes remaining in the close out game cause he needed rest.
Blew the league?!
Damn wish I was in the league.
“The big fondue”
French, soft, cheesy, and he melts under heat
He did say that he needs to learn from Brunson on how he made them pay for their mistakes each and every time but nvm, doesn’t fit the narrative
He also said the spurs didn’t need to play great to win just to their standard
And said the Knicks don’t play a “sophisticated brand of basketball” lol
When Shai lost the west finals he clearly said “They were the better team tonight and throughout the series” and acknowledged your team. Why can’t Wemby do something similar and admit Knicks were the better team? Why’s it always about him
This sub probably isn’t ready to hear it, but off the court Shai seems like a pretty decent, humble dude. Wemby… not so much.
If you win too much even the most humble respectful player will look like Satan in the average fans eyes.
I think we all secretly know this already. Him and Dillion Brooks are genuinely good dudes. I mention Brooks in this because he’s another player disliked on the court but a good guy off
I remember one of his interviews, where he said he always gives his jersey to a kid sitting courtside if asked, because as a kid he wanted it to happen to him but it never did. Say whatever you want about him flopping but dude is a class act outside the court. Much better face of the league than some 7’5 overconfident egotistical manchild.
There’s so many videos of Shai spending half an hour pre game walking up to kids and signing all their memorabilia. Dude is a class act and I hate how casual fans treat him who have no idea what a class act he is.
Didn’t he say this after the series was over? I don’t recall hearing during the series, which Josh is talking about.
I could be wrong.
Why would you compliment a team you’re literally competing against before the competition is over? Everyone wants mamba mentality till it’s in your face.
“Job’s not finished” up 2-0
vs. “everyone know’s we’re going to do it” down 3-1
Only one of these acknowledges that the opponent is a good team and you can’t take beating them for granted.
yall hate frontrunners and love trash talkers until they talk trash while theyre down
Maybe because acknowledging that your opponent is giving you problems rather than just saying “oh we’re dominating, we’re only losing because of ourselves” can lead you to not making the same mistake over and over again + not give your opponent extra fuel?
I would think as a Cavs fan you would know this since you guys “analytically won all 3 games” but somehow ended getting swept, but hey you can’t teach self-awareness I guess lol.
spurs are way too arrogant to acknowledge that the reason they were losing late game leads had a lot to do with the Knicks, they played the Knicks eight times this past year and they won twice, a team that goes 6-2 vs you is clearly doing something right
He should know because it was precisely that kind of attitude coming from GSW in 2016 that galvanized Lebron and the rest of the team to overcome a 3-1 series lead.
I didn’t love some of Wembys antics during this playoff run, but I feel like the hate boner for him on this sub recently has gotten kind of ridiculous. Barely a month ago he was everyone’s hero for stopping evil SGA and the Thunder lol.
It’s not like he became the villain for nothing. He exposed himself to criticism with his antics, and honestly the league made it worse for not punishing him for the worst ones.
To be crystal clear: I’m not saying he doesn’t deserve criticism. Just saying it is wild seeing the discourse around him 180 so hard. I’m a true neutral so no dog in the fight here. I’m actually glad the Knicks won because they deserved a title more than the Spurs did.
Is it really shocking that opinions of him have changed after seeing a different aspect of him that wasn’t seen before?
His antics were also put on a bigger stage than ever before. A lot of people who only saw a little of him or his highlights were fully exposed to how he plays for the first time.
I honestly think the league is doing him harm too by “protecting him” when they avoided calling the flagrants on him. It’s one thing if he does it and gets suspended but of course, they don’t want to do that so it became a recurring thing to piss people off. I have basketball casuals who didn’t watch a single reg season game asking me why the super tall guy was allowed to do that stuff on the court.
If Wemby didn’t want the smoke he shouldn’t have elbowed my man Naz.
Honestly I see him now with a big target next year. Antman, OKC as a team, Jamal Murray, Booker, Cooper Flagg—players are going to want to body him and dunk on him to test his toughness
Tracy Murray?? Lmao
When it became clear he takes no accountability, lacks sportsmanship, is a dirty player, is not a smart offensive player, and on top of that has the refs constantly bailing him out, it makes him very easy to dislike.
I dont think he was everyones hero or that everyone shares the same opinion about him.
Theres millions of people on the sub.
Maybe because he spent the whole regular season talking about ethical hoops and then did unethical shit all through the playoffs.
If anything I think it’s the opposite, he still has waves of his supporters that excuse him for things they’d never let other players get away with. Between his antics on the court and comments after games, he definitely provided enough to earn that hate boner.
Difference is Wemby is the intellectual, sophisticated and eloquent euro boy that’s beloved on here and that’s buying him far more goodwill than for other players.
If you call yourself the MVP, talk crazy shit, unapologetically commit a bunch of flagrant fouls, and then proceed to have the worst Finals choke ever you might get some hate.
His image turned quickly primarily because of his own doing. It’s not overblown IMO, it’s deserved and he did this to himself really. The arrogance and dirty plays got too much.
Oh please. Everyone ran absolutely wild shitting on OKC and their fans all year, the “hate boner” for Wemby right now doesn’t even come close to that level of vitriol. I’m sure you thought that was ridiculous too right? :^)
I mean he can really only blame himself. You have to be a huge spurs homer to not see how Wemby acted this post season
He did say that “everyone knows we’re going to do it” when referencing a 3-1 comeback.
Sorry, Spurs fan, but you’ve got a Frenchman that is outwardly an asshole, instead of Tony Parker who was just an asshole to his teammates behind the scenes. Get used to defending this kind of stuff, he’s not going to change.
It’s annoying because he projects himself as self righteous and ethical. But his true colors really reared itself throughout the playoffs.
no no you don’t understand it’s because he is only 22! it’s not because he is inherently an asshole, that would be ridiculous
Everyone here referred to the Spurs locker room. There’s several justified things to be mad at Wemby for. Y’all don’t need to be taking quotes out of context too
Narcissistic trait.. make it all about me
How French of him
Fuck them french.
He never once made it about him, he ALWAYS said “we.” You’re taking a misquote to shit on him lmaoo
These people are weird
He was indeed dominating the 30 mins he can play without getting tired
Maybe he meant physically dominating because he did hit three guys in the face and they did go down.
Saying you are dominating just because you are leading also makes no sense. It’s take of a young child who doesn’t understand there is more to a game than simply leading and pretty shocking someone at the professional level has the same take. If the Knicks are cutting into the lead the entire game, it doesn’t matter if the Spurs are technically “leading.” The Knicks are playing better basketball for 75% of the game, just started off slow.
As much as a Spurs homer am I, the Knicks won. Let them talk their shit
They’re not talking shit though. They’re just stating fact
I don’t mean it in a dismissive way when I said shit though
They literally are talking their shit lol talking about the subjective ways they interpreted things to hype themselves up
So sensitive 🤣 I stg New York has to be the most sensitive ass winners in awhile. Makes sense considering that city
“Stating fact”
-Knicks fan
And the west gets more brutal. If cp3 was still on your team instead of Harrison Barnes. I think you take the chip. Cp3 won’t have significant or any minutes at all but he definitely could’ve mentored the young studs.
And probably mentored Mitch Johnson too
Since when is CP3 a winner? What’s he going to do, teach them to not win championships?
Chris Paul with the long history of winning chips. He probably would have fucked the chemistry up during the regular season knowing him.
Spurs had no leader, on the court or coaching wise. Definitely would have made some difference
Just like how Dirk used the laughing as fuel to beat LeBron and co.
As he should. It was childish from Lebron and Wade tbh.
I was a neutral in that final. After they mocked Dirk, i rooted for Dirk.
Who would win, 3 superstars in their primes taking paycuts to play together, or 1 German boi?
1 German superstar
Dirk has said numerous times that it added no extra motivation for him.
“These are the NBA Finals, if you extra motivation, you’re in the wrong place.” 🔥
But also JJ Barea and Brendan Haywood said it lit a fire under him.
For me, obviously, the greatest playoff run of the 21st century. They had to go through so many tough teams to make it. Phenomenal team.
By the way it wasn’t just Wemby and the Spurs players. Mitch Johnson came out after game 4 and said it was the Spurs’ play that dictated the winner of every game. Never gave the opponent credit.
Thing is it wasn’t just Wemby lol. From the coaching staff to other players like castle. Remember when they said they’ve “dictated” every game lmao? Like no bro the Knicks spot you 15 points and still walk your ass down every game. Look in the mirror
The arrogance of Johnson to say he’ll put Fox in big minutes every time after blowing lead after lead. I know you want to always stick by your guy but look at the Knicks. I’m sure Bridges wouldve loved to have played in the huge 4th quarter in Game 4 but Alvarado was the hot hand. It’s definitely all good since they won but going with your gut like that and pulling through, you just got to believe.
That whole org needed to be humbled
Opening night is going to be so lit
This, the Fox drama, whatever Wemby does this summer Brunson as Lord of the NBA
Book me in
As a Knicks fan am ready for they spurs v Knicks opening night game it’s gonna be a blow out either way
I want the Knicks to play the Pacers opening night.
Haliburger must CONSUME
Spurs made 2 catastrophic rec league level unforced errors that swung their game odds by 50%+. Its objectively true
And? Those weren’t act-of-god type things that were outside their control.
“Fucking up less than your opponent” is a pretty huge part of being the better team. The “if not for those mistakes” argument is silly.
They made two mistakes on one play when they didn’t have the lead. To say that they would have won that game if they didn’t make a mistake is a stretch when considering how the Knicks beat them.
The fact they face up leads is what should’ve changed the odds. Winning every first quarter and being walked down like that is psychologically thriller material
The Knicks and Spurs played 8 times total this season. The Knicks won 6 of those games. The losses we by 2 and 4 points. It’s not objectively true.
NY dominated the second half of each finals game. And by more than the spurs led in the first half.
If the Knicks don’t make some dumb TOs to start Game 3, we probably sweep them 🤷
Both sides can play this game lol
Exactly, Knicks made plenty of random uncharacteristic turnovers and bad shots even down the stretch of those guys.
But thank you media and Spurs players/coaches for keeping our guys motivated and locked in for a title.
What about the mistake of letting the Knicks chip away at the lead the entire game after the 1st quarter in every game? That’s a culmination of many many mistakes and bad basketball for 3 quarters of every game.
Yeah, let’s only focus on the 2 catastrophic rec level unforced errors and not the 4 catastrophic double digit lead chokes that they had
Except these errors kept on happening. That’s not a one off anymore
Knicks wear teams down mentally by never giving up
Spurs 2026 analytical champions
Epic 7-gamer against Cle
I thought that was where the Spurs showed their youth and weak coaching the most. “We’ve decided the result of each game so far.“
That’s loser talk. If you’re the one deciding the result then how about you decide to win. Oh wait, you can’t, because the Knicks decided to win instead.
As an opponent, wouldn’t you prefer to believe that you got bested by a team on a generational run as opposed to your team choking and shitting their pants 4 times in 5 games?
That’s for after it’s over not during
When you win, you can assume everything and talk shit lol. It’s as Josh hart can read their heart
Between talking about the Knicks like they weren’t a worthy opponent and taunting the Knicks throughout the series, the Spurs and their fans have no business complaining about anything the Knicks say now.
It looked dumb in the moment and looks even dumber now
Spurs said they decimated the Knicks navy and that the straight of MSG was closed n now the spurs have to pay for the parade and the rings but they actually won cus they are very handsome.
This is our league, ya just participating in it
Now hold this chip 🏆
Spurs fans will say “He’s 22 guys” in reply to every criticism ever, he is not a child lmao
Wemby, Castle and Mitch Johnson said a lot of stupid things. Not a surprise the Knicks who were already on a mission used it for extra motivation.
Every team gassed themselves up that they’ll beat the Knicks because it’s just the Knicks and then the Knicks beat them handily and they are all in denial afterwards
he’s dead right, too. when the Knicks lose, every time it’s about them needing to play better as a team. when the Spurs would lose, it was always “well we’re actually the better team”. like, you don’t need to say that, lol. just say you need to do better.
I was making jokes about how next season Wemby would not be as beloved, and even I am shocked at how quickly y’all threw him away.
Seriously as people maybe look into how judgemental/easy to outrage you are. Y’all were bloodthirsty when the Thunder were looking to repeat, and you’re furious at a 22 year old for doing poorly in his first NBA finals.
Y’all should honestly grow up a bit.
“Y’all, y’all, y’all”
Wild to consider there’s different people with different opinions in a massive sub and that they aren’t all in agreeance with every post
His attitude and disrespect for the Knicks is what turned everyone against him in the finals.
And I think we are overreacting to that. These comments are taking it to the extreme instead of applying self-moderation and thought.
If I were a gambling man, I’d bet the Knicks are significantly less bothered by him than y’all. I think this sub latches on to a heateable entity because anger/outrage is easy and addictive. Before Wemby it was Shai, KD, Draymond, Pat Bev, and a host of others.
People are acting like this is a permanent reflection of his character, rather than an opportunity to grow and change.
They were out for Tatum for being “corny” in spite of him seeming like a great dude and good father, doesn’t play dirty at all, and while he complains about not gwtting calls a bunch he doesn’t play the game to flop around like a fish out of water. The online NbA discourse is complete shit.
Never seen a team who lost 4-1 think they are so much better. They got whooped.
Brooo we’re NBA Champions!!!! What is going on?!? 🟠🔵🏆
If you keep acting like their wins are flukes, don’t be surprised when they turn that disrespect into a title.
Nothing gives me a better laugh than the in-denial Spurs fans saying they were the better team but lost 4-1. It literally doesn’t matter at all if you were up the first 3 quarters in every game but then LOST. It’s like when we sweeped the Cavs and Harden said they were the better team. Just accept you lost to the Knicks and keep it pushing lil bro lol Brunson made a fool of all of yall.
The Knicks stayed humble throughout the playoffs. They didn’t talk shit about their opponents. They quietly took them down.
Bro Nick Wright has been saying this the whole finals that’s crazy
Nothing wrong with your best player speaking confidently throughout a series.
Castle said “we feel we’re better than them(OKC)” WHEN down 3-2 in the WCF. They won, so noone cares. This is just retroactive narrative change.
There’s no winning with the mob, if the Spurs players would’ve talked about the Knicks just being better everyone would be calling them out for lack of accountability. Also, after the G3 loss Knicks players also talked about what they needed to fix / get back to for the rest of the series.
Who gives credit to the opposing team in the moment? That’s weird
A lot of players will at least give a generic “they did were able to take advantage of their chances and finish, we’re going to go back and watch the film and adjust” vs “we dominated every game so far and aren’t worried” after every loss, especially down 3-1
Damn Vic was right he really is in their head even after winning a final they’re still yappin 😆
Spurs were young most of them this was literally their first time in the playoffs let alone the Finals also a rookie coach pretty much no bench depth which is why wemby was gassed every 4th what people fail to realize is taller people get tired much quicker and the fact that wemby is 7’4 and plays and moves like a guard is even more likely to get gassed quickly… the Knicks were just deeper and better coached plain and simple they certainly didnt not dominate the Spurs… Wemby Castle Harper and Bryant are only going to get better and we are bringing in reinforcements to have an actual bench so not worried at all…
I’m so tired of this narrative. Why are they obsessed with trying to humble Spurs/Wemby?
I have been watching the NBA for over 30 years I don’t remember a championship team so obsessed with the team they lost to like this.
I think they might be angry at the media for focusing so much on Spurs and the league anointing Wemby face of the league.
Knicks were fantastic but they will not be the first team to repeat since we have been having new champions every year now. They will have to face a likely healthy Celtics and Pacers in the East. Maybe Detroit adds the right pieces to elevate the team.
