[Fischer] The Boston Celtics inquired about Rudy Gobert at the trade deadline. The Minnesota Timberwolves are interested in Derrick White.

All that said …
In reference to Minnesota’s interest in White, which The Athletic’s Sam Amick first reported Friday morning, trading him for Rudy Gobert would represent a clear salary match.
Sources say that Boston, furthermore, has inquired about Gobert before … most recently at February’s trade deadline.
Now I don’t think that the Wolves are actively shopping Gobert, either way, but Minnesota is said to be as exploratory and open-minded as Boston when it comes to shaking up the roster around the team’s clear alpha (Edwards).
Based on my conversations with league personnel briefed on the matter, Minnesota has appeared more willing in recent conceptual trade talks to offer up three-time former All-Star Julius Randle — who has two seasons and nearly $70 million left on his deal — than Gobert. Rival teams naturally covet the off-limits Jaden McDaniels and big man Naz Reid in trade talks with the Wolves but are coming away with the impression that Randle is the Minnesota player on a consequential salary most perceived as available.
