When Jordan Air Balled a 3 At His Own Basketball Camp
I would like to speak to a manager theres a problem with my GOAT
They should have booed him for fun. They then would have gotten competitive Jordan and he probably would have finished that camp having aggressively dunked on everyone of those thirteen year olds and thrash talked them with things that would shock them haha
AIRRRRRBALLLL AIRRRRRBALLLL
Haha hed call their parents down to the camp so he could dunk on them also
I feel like its been a while since that one gets play. Its a classic and would have been legendary had even one kid done it. Never to be heard from again but worth it
Sung to the tune of DARRRYLLL
The Last Dance: Extended Scene
Hit him with an Aiiirrrrrrr Ballllllllll chant
Sir my goat is cooked
he sorta airballed a shot at his own camp yeah
That’s a tough one
Shaq would hit the rim
He’s called Air Jordan for a reason
He was never a great 3pt shooter
It’s true, he didn’t need to be during that era. He could get to his spots on the floor for the mid range shot
And is probably the best guard to ever operate out of the mid post
Edit: best lmao
Oh for sure, he is a guard 100%
Lmao ya Reddit and cooking is a mistake
I was going to add, the form was there for the 3-ball.
When he needed to, he could knock them down with the best of them…
He went on a heater in the 92 finals against the Blazer behind the arc when the media was criticizing him for not being able to shoot the 3-ball…
He shot over 38% from 3 in the playoffs every year from 1991 to 1993
He took very few 3PA though in 1991 (1.5) and ‘92 (2.0). Only in ‘93 and ‘94-‘97 did he attempt over 3 per game.
I agree
Rules at the time limited how players could switch/help on defense.
He would have no problem today. Look at his athleticism, and skills even in his first games as a rookie. He’ll get to wherever he needs
If Jalen Brunson is breaking down the defense and getting to the cup and lane in the 2026 Finals, a bigger faster, taller, more athletic and stronger MJ will have no problems
Athleticism would not have looked as other worldly against modern players.
Care to explain?
Did you learn about evolution in high school? You really think we haven’t had any advancements in sport science to drive athlete performance in the past 20+ years?
The evolution argument is used for average players being better today
But trying to use that argument to make the point that mj(a outlier elite far ahead of his own era) would not be elite today is crazy considering the only player arguably better than him(2013-2018 LeBron) is not in his prime rn
So if Jordan was coming up in the era he wouldn’t have access to all the advances sports science?
Are you stupid? He’s one of the greatest athletes ever. 6’6”, 7’ wingspan, vert like Vince Carter, enormous hands that could easily palm the ball, and moved smooth af too.
How many guys are dunking like MJ in the modern NBA?
Guys literally dunk from the free throw line all the time what are you talking about man? Yall literally hype the most basic shit ever just because MJ did it. MEMBER BERRIES
Are you trying to say jordan would not be elite today?
No one including the old generation of Boomers etc. ever talk about illegal defense rules back then.. it’s utterly ridiculous .. they all act like they don’t even know it happened/act like they forgot it happened .. but it was such a big deal when they were done away with and zone was legalized in 2001 - boomers and all - players & all - were making such a big deal of that huge news at the time (but then magically pretend it didn’t exist / help before then - including for MJ, who infamously hated zone and infamously said/claimed he wouldn’t have had the career he had if zone defense was legal (and the illegal defense rules didn’t exist) )
Why weren’t all the other players doing what MJ did then?
You guys never think for 10 seconds before posting this dumb shit
Jordan said that before he knew they would remove handchecking, add defensive three seconds and how the spacing would be today with the rules geared towards offence than ever before with offensive players having much more freedom of movement than ever before ,taking that quote to represent what he will do today does not make sense when he was fearing something like the deadball era with poor spacing+handchecking+zone not 2020s defence also you are forgetting with all the complex defensive schemes today there are even more complex offensive schemes which exploit the defence and allow the scorer to attack the rim and get to his spots even more efficiently which would benefit mj a lot
The first two seasons were also part of the hardest era to score(peak deadball era) and he was still able to drop 40 piece games while being a 10x worse version of his glory days
Kobe(a widely regarded worse version of prime mj) was able to average 30 ppg in the deadball era on +2 league average efficiency ,mj(a more athletic and efficient version of kobe with better shot selection and team playing skills) would undeniably be elite today
Bringing up that quote without the context that he was fearing the deadball era not 2020s is crazy
If jordan is your source,he also believes no team could beat his 90s bulls which clearly means he believes he will be elite today
A lot of coaches and players viewed it as a gimmick. The NBA didn’t add it until 1979-80, and colleges experimented with different variations of it through the 80s until it was universally adopted in 1986-87. Imagine playing your entire life, from childhood to youth to high school to college and then getting to the NBA and all of a sudden there’s this arbitrary line worth 3 points just because the NBA was competing with the ABA.
“That’s what a bad shot looks like. Now here’s what a real shot looks like.”
im making my way through the 1998 finals game, but he has a really comfortable catch and shoot 3pt stroke
granted its not at all contested/under pressure, but the base is there
He played in the easiest 3pt shooting era ever with the shortened line which I think helped him a lot
That was literally 2.2 seasons after his prime was over.
He actually shot better from the long line in the playoffs overall
That was for a season or 2
95 96 and 97
He played less than 20 games in 95 though
They pushed the line back in 97…
He once held the record for most 3s in a Finals game (the Shrug Game). The Blazers left him open on purpose. So he went and did that. Wasn’t his game, but any offensive player can catch fire, especially if open and shooting in rhythm.
He was actually accurate from 3 that year specifically. Otherwise he was usually shooting lower %s.
Yes
And Tim Legler led the NBA in 3% with over 50%
It’s about time ESPN treated him like the by-far-best-person they have over there at ESPN and put him on the Finals broadcast over Dorris DEI self etc. lol
Hence the shrug
So? I’ve seen Rudy Gobert hit nothing but net in practice
It was just a bad shot. It happens
I agree and I didn’t make that statement to talk down on MJ it was a different era of ball
If you treat three point shooting like true shooting and adjust for era, in true shooting’s case it would be TS+, we see that Jordan’s 3P+ would be 99. League average is 100. So for his entire career, he was only marginally below league average for his three point shooting. LeBron’s 3P+ is 97, so slightly worse. But of course that doesn’t take into account Jordan’s infamous love-hate relationship with the three ball. When he didn’t like taking them all the did was shoot end of shot clock heaves and prayers, which obviously makes his 3P% in those seasons look terrible. But it’s clear that is what his mindset was in those seasons. He would maybe take 50 threes the entire season. Contrast that to the seasons where he was clearly taking the shot seriously and you see that his attempts are up over 200 and peaking at nearly 300. In those seasons he averaged 38.3% or a 3P+ of 110. Granted, two of them were with the shortened line though the line was only shortened for perhaps two thirds of its length, with corner and sideline threes being the same as they are now. So, taking that into account we can estimate that he would have shot around 34.9% or a 3P+ of 107, still well above league average. Context is certainly needed to be understood when it comes to Jordan’s three point shooting. In the end, a guy who shoots 85% from the line, is probably the greatest mid range shooter of all time and was deadly with long twos is absolutey and without a shadow of a doubt going to be an excellent three point shooter if he put his mind to it. To think someone with those shooting capabilities would suddenly be terrible just two or three steps further back is just incredibly naive.
Folks say Jordan took the same amount of foul shots as players today
He only took 2 threes a game. It’s not close.
MJ only has a 110 FTr+ (114 as a Bull) for his career. That means only 10% more FTs per FGA compared to the average player.
The only superstar player who’s come along after him with a whistle that bad is Curry.
And curry took way more shots
No, but he would hit 3 pointers that were backbreakers.
lebron would never let this happen
lebron would have scraped this footage before it left the building
LeBron has in fact air balled a 3 at his own camp and scraped the footage before it left the building. That’s why we haven’t seen it!
Never forget college sophomore Jordan (Crawford) posterized Lebron so badly Nike confiscated the video.
this is true. I tried to release it and Bron put me in a chokehold. his big strong arms were too secure, I couldn’t get out 😍
LeSecretService
LeDacted
LeT’sfindthemferwhorecordedthis
The entire camp mysteriously joined Bron’s school but not one has a day on their attendance LeBases covered
That shit was so comical. It would have blown over so fast if he never tried to hide it
LeBron wouldn’t shoot the 3 lol
Lebron had hit multiple 3 point buzzer beaters
Soo ChinaLeaks got the better of him?
Washed.
LeGoat would never
China says otherwise
Wizarded
That might be the decider between who my goat is

AI
lol you wish. Posted in 2020 to YouTube . Probably a post from 2020 on here too about it
Very funny lol but could be made into a more valuable lesson for a lot of the kids
Yeah i haven’t seen the full clip of this but I presume (hope) thats what happened here.
That silence after the shot and him just standing there staring at the hoop while the kids get increasingly louder really paints a picture though.
I think he makes a quirk after the shot towards the end when they start laughing lol
“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. And sometimes 100% of the shots you do take”
It’s not as embarrassing as losing a 1-on-1 match against a CEO. https://youtu.be/5B7U74Dg04k?si=3D_C-i8TZa4W7Xl2
How have I never seen this? This is incredible.
The deafening silence the second time he misses. The “Oh no!” by Jordan. The fact that he might’ve actually fouled him cause he was trying at least a bit.
That needs its own post
Lmao Damon Wayans there to rub it all in makes it so much better.
“You have made a powerful enemy this day.”
Better long than short
Overcooked rice is unfortunate, but undercooked rice can kill you.
And the neighbors rice always smells better.

That’s what she said. 👀
Jordan was neither locked in or within his range.
Technically he was within range, but maybe too close. After all, it went too far
Steph at a charity event levels of bad shooting
Next thread: Is Jalen Brunson better than Michael Jordan?
I genuinely believe Brunson is a better player than Jordan.
Although in fairness Jordan is pretty old these days.
Shit happens but that was funny asf. Everything from what mj to the silence
This yall goat?
Fuck them kids
The reactions are hilarious ngl💀
Shocked lol
Almost as rough as the harden step back ankle break airball.
He’s just a person, guys. He’s not God
Yeah seriously some folks get hyped up like legends after one moment. It’s wild how fast people run with that stuff.
An actual level headed take. People unironically saying this is why he isn’t the GOAT and that LeBron would never do this lmao so something an athlete does at 63 years old while retired for 20+ years still count in the GOAT debate? People be tripping fr
MJ was merely showing an example of what happens when you don’t stay in your range
“Stay within your range”
Well, he was definitely within is range, just needs to step back a few feet to actually make it. Hahaha. Also he looks and sounds well over 50 here, if video is current, muhfuka is 63 yrs old. <facepalm>
Why did Marcus Jordan show up??
insane aura loss
That’s because Pippen wasn’t there.
This is like when Tiger was on one of his many comebacks and hit three straight 100 yard shots into the water on media day https://youtu.be/KshZ2I35kTA?is=dzFbEcJ4TkRpOfGu
Lebron airbags free throws in real games
Klutch propaganada machine in full swing this offseason, hardly had time for the Knicks to celebrate their parade before we saw LeBron making those GM comments and half of the front page being LeBron posts and now this. Seriously though, if this is the worst thing you could find to defame the true GOAT then you are really, really reaching LOL
How does this affect MJs legacy?
Kobe would never. For multiple reasons but you get my point
Lol this is a I wanna speak with the manager moment
I’ve seen enough, give a ring to the Wizzards
He missed that on purpose because he was talking to younger players about staying in your shooting range.
Should have taken his championship rings off before shooting
It would have been hilarious if some kid started chanting aiiir ballll
1500 usd for an airball nice one
The classic best part has always been how he literally says ‘stay within your range’ and then immediately airballs it by a mile lol
(although ‘at least’ he airballed it way long, instead of short, meaning he may have been under his range / outside his range by not being far enough lolol)
He was only like a 30% career 3PT shooter so not crazy.
1500 for a Jordan camp where Jordan actually makes an appearance feels pretty reasonable
bum
The moment was too great for him.
To Air is human [MJ probably]. XD
Imagine paying $1500 to film and not pay attention
That’s the GOAT three-point shooting contest participant right there.
And I guarantee you every kid there got an incredibly valuable lesson that everyone misses shots.
Stay within your range MJ
Who among the current stars will be the best players at Jordan’s age (63)? I would guess that Curry will stay in shape. Maybe Durant? I could see Giannis still being intimidating.
LeBron might still be in the NBA at 63
Absolute and utter heresy
LeNervous
Man! The LeNarrative is in full force. Thay cannot stand that their “king” is not winning a championship (again) and are just posting non stop propaganda.
I guess for new generations on r/NBA this is a legacy defying moment.
AI is getting dangerous.
Fuck them threes
This video will be erased from the internet soon.
Great of all time not the great for all time.
Oh my god he’s human, no fucking way
AAIR Jordan! Jk he’s the goat
