[Wright] The Spurs remain committed to De’Aaron Fox as their starting point guard for the 2026-27 season despite the expectation that calls from Dylan Harper’s camp for a spot in the starting lineup will grow louder going into next season.
Per ESPN’s Michael C. Wright, the Spurs “remain committed” to De’Aaron Fox as their starting point guard despite Dylan Harper arguably being the better player throughout the postseason and their long-term financial outlook being murky with looming extensions for Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle: “It’s expected that calls from Harper’s camp for a spot in the starting lineup will grow louder going into next season. But it’s not an issue San Antonio needs to address right away. Fox’s contract won’t become a potential eyesore until after Wembanyama’s upcoming rookie extension kicks in, and when the Spurs are looking next summer to extend Castle to what should be a max deal.”
