Patrick Ewing lifts the Larry O’Brien trophy 🥹
I’ve been waiting my entire life to see Pat lift that trophy
Didn’t happen the way I imagined it but it happened!
I hate he didn’t get one
Hate Starks instead xD
I expected to see him more. I hope he is at peace with it. That performance was hard and it did not come to him that day.
Rewatched it recently. He was really forcing it in the fourth and I have no idea why Riley let it happen.
LOL
I wanted him to shine as a college coach as well ..
Instead he gets to enjoy some stolen valor now 😂😂😂
He works for the team
Literally on the payroll. A friend got a ring with the braves in 2021 and she’s in accounting lmao. She contributed and that’s what matters.
That’s so dope. I would engrave random stats from the year on the inside lol
1289 emails sent 348 invoices filed 450 TPS reports submitted
We need to talk about your TPS reports…
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patrick_Ewing
As ambassador: NBA champion (2026) NBA Cup champion (2025)
no different then GM, coach etc
The players and the team get to decide who stole their valor. Not you. And they seem fine.
Same!
I’m happy Ewing’s happy. Love him.
Also “Step back, one legged, what kind of shot is that? Have you ever shot that shot? Do you work on that shot? When?” is forever in my head when I see a bad one.
It’s the “When?” that always sends me.
Young man is probably smiling and nodding 😂
Glad to see that quote here. Just fucking legendary “let me hit you with the real” moment.
Love that he’s got the towel. Don’t care what anyone says, Ewing was a legend.
Who tf says Ewing isn’t a Knicks legend lol?
Not just a Knicks legend, an all time legend. There’s crazy hate, like Bill Simmons with his stupid Ewing Theory or everyone only remembering the finger roll. Maybe I’m easily annoyed cause he carried us for 15 years by himself.
Bill Simmons with his stupid Ewing Theory
Okay I dislike Bill too but he didn’t coin that term. Pretty sure it’s been a thing since Pat’s playing days.
You’re right. But he ran with it and made it famous.
Simmons gives credit to one of his friends for creating it, but that friend is just an unknown dude. Bill was the one who put it in print and brought it to the masses in a time before you could just steal jokes from social media. No one was saying that shit casually like they do now. It’s an OG Simmons staple term.
Simmons is a Celtic homer…duh
No one but Celtic fans takes Bill Simmons seriously these days lol
I don’t even take him seriously
Don’t care what anyone says
i’ve literally not once heard someone say otherwise…
This was the cherry on top. This man brought me such joy as a kid, to see this, man, so awesome.
Did they give him a Ring?
He’s a team ambassador, so *officially,* Ewing’s now an NBA champion in some capacity.
I wonder if they’ll personalize his like the active players? I imagine the non-player rings are more generic (no name/number)?
He’s officially a front office guy, so he’ll get one.
Really happy for him.
This is my favorite thing about the Knicks title win.
I honestly think all the 90s legends that fell short of a ring should be honored more. Looking at past 8 years with 8 teams winning, it’s surreal to think back to Jordan and Hakeem blocking everyone else over same 8 years time frame.
Ewing, Barkley, Stockton (not mentioning his pedo teammate), Reggie, etc. Watching back 90s playoff games and these guys are playing the second round like Game 7 of the finals level intensity just for a chance to advance.
Honestly the most underrated aspect of Jordan’s GOAT case is the amount of legends he’s beaten and prevented from winning rings. No team was winning under his watch in the 90s unless he was playing baseball
Even when he was gone Hakeem and the Rockets cockblocked everyone else lol
Except for ‘95, when Shaq and Penny beat him in 6 in the second round.
From the Lakers first with Magic to when the Warriors won with Durant again from 1980-2018:
So 8⁄30 teams in this span won 36⁄39 (92%) of NBA titles and the other 22 teams combined won 3⁄39 (8%).
For comparison, from 2019-2026 8 different teams have won in 8 years.
Whole lot of guys in an almost 30 year span got blocked from winning titles.
I don’t think it was harder than the 2010s really. You had Lebron with 2 other all stars for 7 of those years, and the dynasty Warriors from 2015 though 2019 (until they broke down physically).
Dirk’s Mavs, The Spurs and the Kawhi Raptors were all playing at a level above those 90s teams that MJ and The Rockets beat.
I’d say Barkley is the main guy who got unlucky with rings but he just didn’t peak long enough to get over the hump like Dirk.
Speaking strictly from a Knicks perspective I will say our 90s guys are honored plenty. They’re at games constantly, shown on the big screen, given official and unofficial positions with the team, interviewed during games, etc.
Gary Payton is my favorite player of all time, and I’m so glad he got that ring late in his career
But yeah. In a world without Jordan, he definitely would have gotten a ring as a starter in his prime, and it’s a damn shame we didn’t get to see that. Cuz that would have been pretty sweet
(I’ve seen those ‘96 Sonics at or near the top of “best team that didn’t win a ring” lists. Obviously I’m very, very, very biased, but hey, if that’s the consensus, I won’t argue …)
For me when I hear or read about the Knicks, my brain just associate it with Ewing, Allan Houston, Starks, Latrell, Oakley, Larry Johnson.
You can relate if you are a 90s kids.
Mason.
RIP.
I see him more in Hornets jersey.
He made All-Star in 2001 as a Hornet but with all due respect, that era of East was weak af and also lacking in big men. I’m not saying Mason was a bad PF but that All-Star selection, imo, wasn’t his greatest achievement.
Him making All-NBA Third-team and All Defensive Second Team as a Knick in 1997 was his peak imo. Not to mention he also won a Sixth Man with Knicks in 1995.
He was an embodiment of the defensive-minded and bruising Knicks of the 90s.
The following statement is obviously purely subjective and I didn’t watch all Mason games, but I always felt that he played with more heart as a Knick. Not saying he was going through the motion as a Hornet though.
No bullshit my man this is spot on. I’m a diehard Suns fan and I can vividly remember summer days in Phoenix in the late 90s spending an hour or 2 at a court trying to master Spreewell’s patented step back shot from the wing. I loved some of those 90s Knicks players and their intensity. So happy for Ewing and it’s just cool to hear so many great stories about how is just a good dude.
Ewing-led deep playoff runs were a key part of 90s NBA
Good for him man, that’s a great moment
Pat is a true Knick.
This is the one that got me. So happy for Pat.
Happy for Ewing. Just even to hold and raise that NBA Championship trophy can be fulfilling. Greatest Knick for me.
So cool, I wasn’t aware that Ewing was working for the Knicks. I was sad that he never won a ring as a plager. I was pretty pissed the Knicks for trading Ewing, and held it against them for a while. Anyways, it’s water under the bridge. I’m a Jazz fan, but I’ve always had a soft spot for NY as a city, wanted to move there when I was younger, and loved the 99 Knicks. I was definitely rooting for the Knicks this year when they made the Finals, more for New Yorkers, but the team really grew on me, and they’re probably my 2nd favorite team now. Knicks in 5!
my PT buddy!
When Pat gets his ring, I will cry
LEGEND
Michael Jordan can’t hurt you anymore
I love Pat. Feel like he wasn’t as far from Hakeem as history would have you believe. His teams were nevtgood enough.
lol Pat, you ain’t done shit
Really happy for him to join the celebration. He’s been a loyal New York guy forever.
Obviously, he’s not a champion though.
Yes he is. He’s a part of the organization. He’s legitimately a champion.

Oh fuck off
You must be real fun around parties.
