Similar thing happens in the recent Jimmy Fallon appearance where he’s a bit deadpan, Fallon cracks a joke about him not having emotions, and at that point he feels obliged to flash a deliberate smile while also saying “that’s not true”. As a fellow introvert who sometimes gets a ribbing from people about being emotionless (which I’m not at all– I just don’t make a show of displaying it most of the time), I can relate.
For OG it’s obviously worse because on top of what seems like a very naturally introverted personality, he’s also doing the whole “stoic sports player who doesn’t let his emotions disrupt his focus on the task in front of him” thing, but he gets shit for it because he’s just better at it than most other players, while at the same time probably being less interested in giving the counterbalancing song and dance about how much it means for him etc. in a way that people will feel satisfied with.
