Charles Barkley shooting at the refs and no technical foul was called
Different time for sure.
Teams probably offered drugs at breakfast buffet at that time
We used to be a proper league
Pre-Columbine.
For sure, this has to be like 6 years before columbine? Something like that.
Everyone giving trenchcoat people the side eye after columbine. My school banned them for a minute.
“There were 6 of them! Thats 3 on 3 with a halfcourt!”
He was the Draymond Green of his time “I am not a role model”
I can see it! He’s on another level as a player overall but I loved that I’m not a role model quote. I think I was like 4 or 5 when he said it and was just like “yeah, let’em know” haha.
my buddy did something similar once, no call either
Wasn’t that much later that a team decided to brawl in the stands
You’re talking about the malace at the palace in Detroit? Yeah, I believe that was ‘04, as I remember watching it when I was 15 lol, and this vid was early 90s. Maybe a decade or so in between.
Or about the same time frame as now and the 73-9 warriors
Yeah, that’s true. Time is a trip lol
Guys, it’s not a real gun! If you look really close, you can see it’s just his hand.
Ja’s fingers are actually guns, though
But think about the children!!
You make a good POINT.
That’s what Harden said
“He only shot two of em!”
Your honour he could have shot all 3
3 shots is a penalty. 2 shots is legal.
Only 2 pumps!
2 shots is legal clowb
“My mistake, 2 coffins”
Ja was just born in the wrong decade.
tbf schools weren’t getting shot up every week back then.
Yes they were. Early 90s gun violence was much worse in general than it is today. Specific to school related shootings, although it did spike in Trumps 1st term and in the wake of covid, 2024 had as many school shootings as 1992.
32 school shootings in 1992, 32 in 2024 for the numbers (“only” 15 in 2025). It was absolutely just as bad in the early 90’s.
mass shootings at schools weren’t common. however, dueling with pistols were all the rage back then amongst inner city urban youth
Arenas ruined it for Ja /s
i thought you just misspelled shouting but damn he actually shot those dudes
In Arizona, that’s considered a sign of respect.
Also, this is before Columbine and the dozens of heinous acts that followed. Not that there weren’t gun murders before that, but things changed culturally.
At least that’s one interpretation.
dudes would be suspended indefinitely for something like today holy shit
Unless they’re Wemby in the finals
“The game was tougher in the 90s!!”
Or maybe the refs were
Can’t be shooting at refs now, or there would be some “Powlice Presence!” lol
Ja bout to bring back the old days and reference Chuck
I read the title and thought “surely this is a typo and they meant ‘shouting’ because there’s no way he didn’t get a tech”
They would have executed Tatum on the spot for that
…Tatum?
…have you not seen him clap?
One of the most subdued guys in the league. So far from a dirty player. And they will slap him with a tech for exhaling too loudly.
It is the weirdest thing. This year, JB got all of them for him. But at least he earned some.
Lol
lol this is why 90s basketball was something else. they dont let you breathe near a ref these days
Funny when someone thinks Chuck can say something wild nowadays.
Chuck in his prime was a savage.
People don’t like players like that anymore.
They want to press charges and call the police after a tough play.
Chuck is a treasure
Back when the refs let guys play and let off steam in the heat of the moment.
“I shot the Crew Chief, but I did not shoot the Referee.”
“Charles, you forgot there’s three referees, he only shot two of them”
Never change, Magic

Here’s the FT stats in game 7 of that series btw lol
Friendly fire
Yeah i always say if this happened today, there would be an investigation. 64 FTs in one game to setup Jordan vs MVP Barkley. Stern’s masterpiece
1988-2002 Stern was moving like attitude era vince McMahon with the way he was letting his shooters i mean refs move.
It was the 90s
lol barkley has always been the refs’ worst nightmare. the way he’d just stare them down after a call… man was pure entertainment before he ever got to TNT
It’s funny bc now if a player did that people would be in here calling him immature and a baby for complaining
Should we call that Charles now cause what he did in the clip happened 33 years ago ?
Ja Morant in shambles
The league wasn’t soft then.
I read this as shouting. Not actually gunning down refs
“I am not a role model”
only two pumps
Finger gun rule is only a couple years old right?
Refs weren’t felines back then
David Stern would never let him get away with this. /s
you betta get heem back charles, you betta get heem back!!
A disgusting act!
Well he’s not a role model
To be fair, he did spare one ref
2 FT for SGA
I loved it when the Sonics used to whoop on Phoenix
A disgusting act
Don’t let Ja see this
Insert the brainless bots calling him a national treasure and glazing him
Before the NBA became the “no fun league” and players could show their emotions on court 😂
The NBA was called properly back then. There literally punches thrown without ejections.
