Pretty confident the Spurs would be getting less criticism if they lost in the 2nd round or the WCF.
The narrative that the Spurs have an insanely long list of issues to fix is so hilarious to me. I think it just sums up the reactionary nature of social media and sports media in general.
Knicks outplayed the Spurs but are we really going to pretend the margins werent incredibly small between the series going the other way? If Wemby doesn’t pass into the back of his teammate, and Fox doesn’t brain fade, all of a sudden the Spurs are going to be okay? If the team has so many issues and their stars are absolute choke artists, why were the games so close to the “historic” Knicks?
The Knicks deserved the win, and even without those self-inflicted mistakes, probably go on to win the series, but it’s so wild that a team this young is copping this amount of criticism. Going into the playoffs all anybody wanted to say was how their lack of experience will show, and it took all the way until the finals for that to happen.
Why are they seemingly copping more heat than the Nuggets? The Rockets? More heat than the way the Pistons absolutely collapsed? More heat than the other #2 seed Celtics getting bounced in the first round?
