Knicks radio announcers get emotional calling the end of Game 5
“No lead is too big and no guard is too small” is a bar, goddamn.
He ripped that from Paw Patrol
No job’s too big! No pup’s too small!
WHO LET THE DAWGS OUT?!?
Mike Brown needs us!
Only 2 Dawgs at a time though, too OP otherwise.
So Mike Brown is Ryder?
it goes up there for me with henry’s return goal “he may be cast in bronze but hes still capable of producing truly golden moments”
And also “MANOLAS THE GREEK GOD IN ROME”
Ahh so maybe that was callback/homage at the F1 race today. “A legend forged in silver and resumes in red” about Lewis Hamilton. Paraphrasing but it was something like that. Alex Jacques on the call.
Pure poetry
Cold asf holy shit
Tyler Murray is a gem.
The whole thing is just pure poetry. Legendary wording and delivery from both.
Honestly that’s an all-time line.
Came here to say that like got dayum!!
That’s not a bar
That’s a life lesson!
Not even a Knicks fan and that gave me shivers.
Giving One small step for man
Absolutely poetic
Yeah if you’re 8 lmao
U thought u 8
These two are great and have some great chemistry. I hope they get to stay in the future.
Breen and Clyde started on the radio. I wonder if this is tryouts for them before moving over to the televised broadcast
They’re both in the MSG broadcast rotation. I can’t imagine anyone else taking over for Breen and Clyde when they ultimately retire.
Feels like they’re definitely prepping Monica to step in for Clyde, or at least she seems to be one of the favorites of people they rotate. Called a few games next to Breen when Clyde goes on his mid-year vacation.
I like Novak and Alan too. MSG networks is in good hands.
They’re OK but Monica is the only one who really has the charisma to take over from Clyde imo
Alan has so much personality on the radio. For some reason he doesn’t let it out for MSG.
I guess they’re playing certain roles and Wally is the one supposed to have more personality and more crazy takes. Which is a choice, I guess. I don’t like Wally personally
that guy has major flow

I’m not a Knicks fan and I got emotional … not really like me so not sure if it’s the Knicks or me getting soft over time!
Same dude. Seeing the emotions in her eyes and then hearing her near quavering voice got me super emotional.
I’ve honestly never in my life felt more happy for a group of people waaay more successful than myself for winning a chip haha!
We’ve been waiting over half a century for this chimp
Her reaction encapsulates every Knicks fan who’s been through the mud and now soaking in this moment 😭
Yeah, I hate the Knicks and this still put a smile on my face. If you can’t appreciate this then you don’t appreciate sports. This is what it’s all about.
“ or me getting soft over time!”
they got pills for that
Haha!
it’s call having empathy my dawg. lmfao congrats u are not a sociopath
53 years and an extremely likeable team will do that
I think we are getting old and we get to appreciate genuine happiness 🙂
“Signed sealed and delivered” 🥹
…
“FUCKIN LOVE YOU MONICA DAP ME UP MONICA LETS GO FUCK YEAH WHAT UP MON LET’S GO KNICKS LET’S GET CLOSER FUCK YEAH NICE IDEA BRO ”
I bust a McNut for Monica
Voice of a damn angel
Dapper sam taking a break from the c.o.d. lobbies I see
Holy shit a dapper Sam reference here lmao, I hope he sees this! He’s my favorite streamer rn
a) real sweet b) watch the emotionless guy behind them preparing to rush the court
Monica McNutt the goat
I didn’t know that person’s name and upon learning it have no comment that hasn’t already been made. Seems like a good announcer!
She is. Lots of brains and heart. Low key could end up being a very worthy replacement for Clyde when the day comes. She’s a treasure among our many other treasures.
She’s always great on Bomani Jones’s podcast too
she’s a good analyst. i’d see her a lot on around the horn (rip)
Love me some Monica, man.
I’m not looking forward to the day Clyde retires, but knowing she’s likely next up is definitely a comfort
She’ll have earned it. She’s incredible and very Clyde esque in her own right.
Breen and Clyde were doing the radio calls in the 90s when Marv Albert and John Andariese (Johnny Hoops!) were still the TV crew. Amazing talent pipeline at MSG.
One of the perks of NY sports. Hard to get a truly bad broadcast team in NY because there’s so much talent that comes there for the connections.
We bust a mcnut for Monica
“No job’s too big, no pups too small.
Paw Patrol is on the roll”
Ryder needs us!
This call makes me instantly tear up
what a beautiful moment. i’m so happy for Knicks fans
Yeah that is an absolute bar
The way Breen and Clyde raised the last couple generations of Knicks fans, Tyler and Monica can raise the next couple. Super talented, super passionate, super professional
Tyler and Monica are my votes for successors to Breen and Clyde when the time comes. They are absolutely top notch.
Great announcing
As a Pacers fan I’ve always disliked the Knicks. But beating this team in the previous two playoffs changed how I felt about them. The Knicks are gritty and respectful. I couldn’t help but root for them this postseason. The fan base is crazy passionate and have put up with a lot of hard losses. Congrats to Knicks and their fans. Great team and super fun to watch
Respect. Hope to have our dance in ECF next year
Even when I was cheering against them, I was so livid I couldn’t just blame the refs, or call them dirty, floppers, soft, or OP’d. They just out gritted you if you weren’t prepared to do the same. Fucking livid, Brunson for King of NYC.
❤️🙏🏼Get Hali healthy and lets rumble in the ECF next season
Respect
Was lowkey gutted y’all didn’t win the chip last year. Big Respect & i both do and don’t hope we face off in the playoffs again next year lmao
love how classy radio is
Love these two.
Ngl, that’s a bar 🫡
Sports will do this to you. So emotionally invested in your team year after year FINALLY to have it all pay off. …No better feeling as a fan.
One day the Wizards will get there. As NY’ers would say, DEADASS.
Tyler sounds like a younger Breen and he will carry this legacy on for many decades.
Monica is dope. It’s cool that the fans were giving her a shout out and she gave them a fist bump. Stephen A. would never. lol.
I am hanging that quote from Monica. What a beautiful way to capture the moment.
you can hear the years of emotion in their voices — these guys have been through the dark years and they know exactly what this moment means for the city
Monica McNutt is a treasure.
Monica McNutt is a national treasure
radio calls hit different man. something about hearing the raw emotion without the tv polish makes it feel so much more real
She’s adorable
Love the fans wanting to celebrate with Monica lol
There’s something special about radio and the radio teams.
Shoutout to the previous Knicks radio voices, an impressive list, especially the ones who had to watch the Knicks during those long, trying times
the emotions the announcers and the fans have is the reason why there should be NO PRIVATE OWNERSHIP of sports team, they play for you and we go to see the players. we can easily pay these salaries and funnel any extra into community programs.
you think dolan cares? do you think the fans like dolan? and we already have a system of publicly run sports leagues and teams, the NCAA. imagine that as an anchor for the bigger cities, we could realistically solve a lot of tax burdens in local areas.
i despise dolan, but yes i do think he cares. he’s a fucking silver spooned moron with an ego problem, but i have to defend him when it comes to him caring about the results of his knicks and rangers.
He cares about those teams winning almost as much as he cares about using his billions to erect a shady surveillance state to oppress any who dare to draw the ire of his petty grievances
Isn’t there one team that is publicly owned? But now it’s not allowed?
You make a great point, public teams would be huge for the economy.
the packers. i think there is a way we can lower the burdens of the people based around sports, like creating academies, funding schools, libraries, and other things because the TV deals are were the real money is at. it’s all about selecting the markets and geographical locations that make the most sense.
I’ve lived in California my entire life. But new york is such a vibe. What a great time to be from New York. They deserve this
“Wimpanyama”
Grew up in NYC and I watched the Yankees and Giants win multiple championships. This was the only one that I have not seen in my life and now the trifecta has been completed. BING BONG!!!
Rangers. I was only 7 and don’t remember it. I need a Rangers win.
I saw them win in 94 but I don’t watch hockey.
They’re the best
Ok this one got me. I had been holding strong but this one fucking got me.
Okay I thought I already got all my emotions out yesterday….I was wrong 😭
the best feeling in the god damned world
these radio calls hit way harder than the TV broadcast tbh. you can hear the raw emotion in their voices when it finally sinks in. brunson with 45 in a closeout game is just legendary
you love to see moments like this. grown men whove been calling games for decades finally getting to call a Knicks championship — thats what makes sports special
Damn these two are good
Even happier for the Knicks after watching that. Congrats champs!
That was some fucking S tier broadcasting right there.
Monica you are all of us
Those guys were real professionals these Finals. I listened to them whenever I couldn’t watch the games on TV.
Unbelievable line at the end.
Yeah that last line is goated that’s so good
That was beautiful. Now let’s go destroy a school bus.
In another announce table located elsewhere:
Wemby takes a 3 aaaand he walks off the court together with the rest of the team, i see coaches shaking hands and the lone player that stays is Luke Kornet 🤣
incredible.
🥹❤️
tremendous call by the both of them.
No French is too tall, no Fox is too clutch.
Just beautiful
I mean those 2 are great. That was a great call. They’re just doing radio? I’d say they are ready for the next step.
WooSox legend Tyler Murray
This is exactly why local radio will always be infinitely superior to national TV broadcasts.
That empathetic nudge to his co-announcer is just too cute.
Becky Hammon: [The Knicks] don’t have a dude… you got to have a 1A dude.”
Kendrick Perkins: “They do have that dude.”
B: “Who?”
K: “Jalen Brunson.”
B: “He too small. If your best player is small, you’re not winning… Steph Curry is the only dude.”
Never thought I’d agree with Kendrick Perkins
Why does he look like the guy from Severance calling the game?
Do NBA teams have their own commentators?
For the radio? Yes
Oh wow. I guess because it’s local radio?
Yeah, it’s pretty typical. All the way from the pro leagues down to the college level.
I didn’t know that. I’m from the UK, obviously a much smaller country, so our commentators are neutral
Oh that makes more sense. Yeah, there are just so many sports and so many outlets in the US. You will get neutral radio hosts when it’s a national broadcast but honestly that doesn’t even happen that often. Mainly for like NFL games or men’s college basketball. I’d bet most broadcasts are team-specific on local radio stations.
For example, I live in Idaho. I go to all the Boise State football games. Their radio booth will have the local BSU broadcast team, then a spot for the visiting team to have their broadcast team for their show in their local market.
The does make sense thanks. Yeah, our sports commentators will do it on a national level. You might get the occasional local one doing it on the radio, but it’s rare.
I mean, if the Jays won the World Series last year every Canadian would have cried. It’s their team.
What does that have to do with anything…?
Radio announcers have such a great way with words. They’re like free style rappin’ improv poets out there
This is so nice to watch at this perspective.
Beautiful line
“Nothing like a love letter that an organization has an opportunity to write to its’ fans and cities quite like winning a championship”
Spanos Family are you watching??
Not gonna lie - he is a freaking poet of an announcer. Regardless of what he is paid, they need to double it.
They are fantastic!
Dude trying hard to be linked tonthe moment. Smairt fella
Watching them keep their composure was a chill of its own.
That letter comment is beautiful. That’s a memorable quote.
Idk why but i always picture these play by play guys as like 50 years plus. Seeing this young gun with that voice is crazy to me
I don’t know either of these announcers, but they seem really genuine and wow is that girl drop dead stunning
I’m really sick of this whole Jalen Brunson is small or short thing. Dudes literally 6’2; like maybe next to all these genetic freaks he’s tall but he’s not fucking Muggsy bogues. Not even cause I am a fan he’s just literally not short
Not even a basketball fan but this is a great call.
So before the fans destroyed the city
I’ll never understand being so emotionally tied to sports that you cry
Then the fans go outside and make complete asses of themselves.
Love how everyone’s downvoting me like they didnt go destroy the streets and vandalize people’s property.
Performative
Force tears
They’re on the radio. No one can see them. No need to fake tears lol!
The video your watching , your a door knob
*you’re
Is she happy for Taylor swift too?
Very high quality and necessary comment, thanks!
Lame
people like Monica? I’ve not been able to stand a second of her since she started showing up in like 2019.
