Jalen Brunson was asked if it feels like the Knicks are one win away from a championship:
“0-0.”
You heard him everyone, we’re starting from scratch no take backs
I’m imagining Mitch Johnson running into the spurs locker room “GUYS YOU WON’T BELIEVE IT, SERIES TIED”
“He just came out and said it! 0-0!”
Oh my god he admit it!
Now he has to marry his mother-in-law!
I like the idea of basketball players just existing in the locker room when we they aren’t playing as a sort of purgatory
they have nothing going on except for basketball. In between games they mostly hang around in the locker rooms until it is time to go out and play again.
Some innies and outties type shit
Similar vibes:
https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-1733
Hell yeah
It’s like how kids just assume their teachers are hanging out in their office even when school is out
They’re just T-posing.
*scratches out ‘play hard’, replaces with ‘series tied’ *
cannon
“Analytically, we’ve won 3 of 4 games!”
NO TAKE BACKS BRUNSON
Should the NBA have the Knicks and Spurs redo the series in case it was a big fluke?
Imagine how much more revenue the teams would collect, think about it Dolan
Trump could come to MSG again! That would be sooo wonderful! 🤮
So happy he wasn’t at game 4, doing his dumb dance in the celebrity celebration montage
He would’ve been asleep, how would he dance?
I want to close it out in 5 so badly so he doesn’t get tempted to come to game 6. That would be horrible.
He would 1000000% steal the trophy. He has every other time he’s gone to a championship game.
Analytically speaking? Yes.
How’s Dub’s hammy doing? We can dial it back and have everyone do the conference finals over again too? Right guys?
They should just reset it to 0-0 after each game so we have finals basketball until christmas
But analytically you guys are up 3-1!!!
Do you really want to watch 3 additional heartbreaking losses?
Brunson has not received his Villanova rings yet because in his mind, it’s still 0-0
Brunson will be the next psycho Joe level coach.
I dream of a world where Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart become MSG commentators and take the torch from Mike and Clyde.
Glad I’m not the only one!
I have conflicted (but mostly positive) feelings about this one, not gonna lie.
Probably because I’ve lived in the NY metro area since 2013. This is where I mention (somewhat shamefully) that I’m rooting for the Knicks (outside of living down here for almost fifteen years my dad is a Knicks fan and my girl is too so cut me some slack!)
A true fan hates every opposing team and their own.
I can’t hate this answer. Because it’s very fair. All I’ll say is you’re at least kinda rooting for KAT right? Because outside of the stupid fouls, he’s been amazing in this run for the Knicks.
It’s bitter sweet. Of course we want kat to win but that’ll be so many times a player has left us and gone on to win a championship. When will it be our turn :(
When the sun rises in the west and sets in the east. When the seas go dry and mountains blow in the wind like leaves. When the Target Center quickens again, and you bear an NBA Finals matchup. Then it’ll be your turn, and not before.
God you fucking song of ice and fire nerd. And I say that giving you a massive fucking upvote because you’re either a book reader or familiar enough with the text to make that reference
Read the books in 2011 commuting from Brooklyn to the city every day because my bosses at HBO told me that game of thrones was going to be the best show in the network’s history.
Dang between KG, Love, Wiggins, and possibly KAT every all star that’s played forward or C has won. Golbert prolly praying he gets traded lol
I can’t believe my eyes 👀
Analytically Jalen Brunson never played the Cavs
media training wise, this knicks teams is batting 1.000 this finals run
Well, except the owner
Fuck him
Dolan can suck my dick from the back.
The looooonnngggg wayyyyy
There is no long way for me
Long time Knicks fans fucking hate Dolan with a passion. And new fans who become long term fans will hate him as well. He’s probably one of the most hated owners of a sports franchise.
He’s barely (and I mean barely) a tier above Woody Johnson. One of the worst owners in sports
Aren’t we lucky to have them both.
The news that Woodys son had influence on team decisions when he got all of his info from madden was the funniest thing I ever read
The most Jets thing ever
Both in the Epstein files too
I don’t care who wins the series, but if the Knicks win I want them to win in 6 so we can hear Dolan get booed during the trophy ceremony.
No. End it asap and let’s move on. These games are killing me
There will be a lot more Knicks fans in San Antonio than there even were in Games 1 and 2, and if there’s a post-game ceremony on the road they won’t have to compete with Spurs fans to be heard. So you’ll hear the boos either way.
Dolan holding the trophy is gonna ruin the moment for me lol.
I still want them to win but that part will absolutely suck if they do
Oh well at least Trump won’t steal the NBA trophy like he would if he attended the game.
He will get booed and it will be glorious.
Yep, the revival of the Knicks was all in spite of his destruction of the franchise for so long. Outside of paying the checks and staying out of Leon Rose’s way, he doesn’t deserve credit for this. Plus, the Rangers right now are a disaster because of him.
Honestly, the bar is so low with Dolan and we don’t have to give it to the fuck but staying out of Leon Rose’s way was and is such an unprecedented move with Dolan that I’ll very begrudgingly give him a modicum of credit for that.
Careful, dolan might invite trump on court to pose with the team
I’m hoping the exertion from lifting it would give him a massive aneurysm.
He wouldn’t lift it. He’d do what he did with Chelsea at the Club World Cup, which is stand next to the guy lifting it so he gets to be in the middle, and then have his guys steal the trophy afterward.
Imagine the owner ruining the moment for you. I’m most likely quite older than you. Don’t like Dolan but he could do whatever the fuck he wants with the trophy need be.
we don’t claim him.
This is James Dolan batting 1.000. It’s about the best we Knicks fans could possibly hope for. Him just doing nothing was never an option.
This mfcker is the great equalizer. 1 more month, that’s all he had to do. He was doing so good. Couldn’t help himself.
Brunson is so superstitious he wouldn’t even take a promotional picture with the trophy.
It’s funny you can tell beyond the interview where she asked him about it. In the promo with Wemby in the room standing with the trophy, Jalen’s version of that he’s all alone.
Didn’t he say “no comment” when he was asked about that? He won’t even talk about why he won’t go near the trophy lol
Bad luck for the groom to see the bride before the wedding.
Well put. I love everything about Jalen Brunson. That guy has been all business his entire basketball career. His poise and focus is admirable.
“We are just trying to ask you some comments about the potential championship”
“What championship”
“The NBA basketball-“
“Never heard of it”
All the promo photos with the trophy is corny. Guys shouldnt be able to hold it until theyve won
I was so shocked when I saw KAT touching the trophy for promos. I know there’s not a superstition believed in for the trophy as much as the Stanley Cup but it’s still insane to me that he would do that.
I am thankful no one has thought to put a microphone in front of Mitchell Robinson
some streamer got into the knicks practice and interviewed mitch and he talked about trucks for like ten minutes
All this dude cares about is trucks but all anyone wants to ask him about politics and then jeer at his answer. I can guarantee you Mitch spends approximately 0 minutes a day thinking about politics. People need to drop that shit.
I know he’s registered, but you can’t convince me Mitch has voted once in his life.
I think he did post game after game 4. Of it wasn’t that game it was game 3. I know they had him out there after one of the finals games so far.
Brown complaining about the refs after g3 dings it a bit, but hard to be bad at it when you only lose 3 times so far
He was doing that the Cleveland series too. I understand why peopel hate but that’s just a coach thing. Advocate for your guys
Yeah, I only really mind when Chris Finch does it because he’s such a whiny baby about it.
Worth it to see this sub running victory laps in the 1st half of game 4 trying to clown his ft differential comments. Also he was right
Coaches have to do that, trying to influence the whistle you get is part of the job, what was key is all the players just put the loss on themselves.
Did you watch game 3?? The refs did more damage to us than the spurs. Some egregious ass calls. They all do it
The thing is its not media training they’re just all actually psycho and believe it.
Probably also helps that Bridges is scarred from the Suns Bucks Finals
From a player standpoint, they’re a really hard team to dislike. There’s nobody on this team that rubs me the wrong way.
Ain’t even media training. Mikal had Giannis training.
The only person who might give out a soundbite is Josh if he feels like starting some shit lol
It cannot be healthy to be this locked in for this long, but man am I here for it.
I have this belief now that Jalen Brunson swore off happiness until he wins a ring. And now I’m wondering if he wins, he’ll still respond “0-0”
Jalen, you have made the Hall of Fame. You led the Knicks to 7 championships. Will you finally stop saying “0-0”? “0-0”

“I’ll keep it short and sweet. Family, religion, friendship. These are the three demons you must slay if you wish to succeed in [basketball]. When opportunity knocks, you don’t want to be driving to a maternity hospital or sitting in some phony baloney church. Or synagogue.”
Why do you think repeating is so hard?
”…..Calm. Kindness. Kinship. Love. I’ve given up all chance at inner peace. I’ve made my mind a sunless space. I share my dreams with ghosts. I wake up every day to an equation I wrote 15 years ago from which there’s only one conclusion, I’m damned for what I do. My anger, my ego, my unwillingness to yield, my eagerness to fight, they’ve set me on a path from which there is no escape. I yearned to be a savior against injustice without contemplating the cost and by the time I looked down there was no longer any ground beneath my feet. What is my sacrifice? I’m condemned to use the tools of my enemy to defeat them. I burn my decency for someone else’s future. I burn my life to make a sunrise that I know I’ll never see. And the ego that started this fight will never have a mirror or an audience or the light of gratitude. So what do I sacrifice? Everything!“
God what a legendary monologue delivered by a legendary actor.
Andor is so fuckin good.
It’s not like they’ve dominated every game. Spurs have been up by double digits every game and have done as much to lose as the Knicks have done to win. Ask the Spurs, letting off the gas even a little can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
Nah, Knicks have played like shit most 1st halves(and no, is not defense, they’ve been missing open 3s), refs have been horrible most 1st halves (KAT was removed on game 1 and then game 4 both bad calls, Mikal got the same on game 3). If the right variables were in place the scores wouldn’t be even close
I just want to see OG and Brunson truly let it go and celebrate if we manage to win. And Kat, but he’s generally more open.
I wanna see how a David Goggins would fare in the league, assuming they had the mentality and a generational body like lebrons
He would train himself to injury, even with LeBron’s body. He would also play all 82 games 48 minutes.
He is mad overrated
Kobe mentality . Job ain’t done
At this rate they’re gonna win the series and then be like “0-0” lol
he’s gonna pull a Belichick and say they’re behind on next season
Humble pie
On to 2027
If they win I want to see OG smile a lot
It’s cool I guess
Everyone is celebrating.
I’m celebrating too
Dude is all business…I’m sure you’re gonna see alot of smiling from >!OG!<
OG: “I am smiling”
Have you won the title?
Casually Knicksplained: Again, you really can’t be too sure. Anyway, best bet is to just keep your wits about you and continue to look for signs.
Wouldnt be wrong tho bc theyd be 0-0 for the 2026-27 season
Worked for OKC last year
Atkinson would be like, yeah we analytically won the title.
I mean yeah, analytically the knicks aren’t even in the finals. Cavs are up 2-1 on the thunder rn. Donovan mitchell has been electric
Analectric
Bro did you see his EPM in game 4? Also Mobley’s D-LEBRON, I don’t know which one was more impressive
that’s close to what the spurs sub has been saying the last day or two
This dude has had the right mindset the whole series. You can see him staying calm and stoic after every single win walking out the arena
Yep… which is why experience and coaching matters in the finals. He’s had 3 years of brutal exits, and getting too high or too low after one game cannot happen. Nothing is taken for granted.. no bulletin board material, just wants to compliment everyone and play the game. On the other hand you have a coach whose message is we should have won! Instead of wondering how they can win in these close games.
He’s had 3 years of brutal exits, and getting too high or too low after one game cannot happen.
Yeah, you can really see how celebrating too soon is an issue for Wemby. He’s done that multiple times now. But I’m sure he’ll learn from this and be more prepared next time. There’s just no substitute for experience
you can really see how celebrating too soon is an issue for Wemby. He’s done that multiple times now.
Chucks up random three to fuck around
Such a fine line because his mindset is what makes him great. Maybe they just need some more PR training lol.. including the coach.
Same with OG, not so much as a smirk when asked about his game winner
Everyone talks about Wemby chilling with the monks
But Brunson is the embodiment of that shit. Dude is monk-like with all his responses and demeanor
Wemby went on a PR trip to cosplay as a monk. Actual performative monk training. On the court he’s throwing elbows and shoving heads.
He cosplayed Shaolin then came to the Garden and found out what Shaolin was really about
WU-TANG!!
PROTECT YA NECK
Yeah I haven’t seen a less monk-like player since Draymond.
He did go to a Shaolin temple… and those monks can fight
Ummm yes and no. Technically yes. Because they do train and go through it and do stuff. But he may have been a disciple not actually a monk. A guy who trained with the monks and then became a YouTuber kinda exposed some stuff about the monestary. It’s not everything it’s cracked up to be.
ive been saying this since it happenned, hes performative artist, this is the ultimate “nice guy” boss of current era. been with monks, brings book to all star game, “ethical hoops” , while being the most vile motherfucker once things dont go his way. im sure hes redditor
I have started wondering over time if Wemby went to train with the monks because of some blind fury that we haven’t seen that had to be tamed. Maybe the training helped bring the necks chopped per game from two to one.
We’ve seen his fury
Yea, like he needed to do it the way people with anger management issues need to be in anger management.
Job’s not finished.
three best of 1 series, they have 3 lives to fight.
Job finished?
I don’t think so.
Spurs down 3-1: Everyone knows we’re still going to win.
Knicks up 3-1: 0-0
Edit: I just want to point out, this is why I think the Knicks are winning/going to win. The Spurs feel like they’re entitled to win, everything about their answers, so any fight back from the Knicks, they don’t have an answer for. The Knicks are just fighting man, that’s all.
That’s just the nature of the positions mostly. Spurs need to stay confident, Knicks need to not be overconfident.
(I also get the Knicks would still be saying 0-0 if they were down 3-1)
This is where the youth comes in. Everyone acts like they’re invincible when they’re young, probably more so with professional athletes.
Experience humbles you, and both KAT and Brunson were traded from their first teams. That’s gotta be humbling.
Mike Brown showed them a short film from last years heartbreaking playoffs with the message being “Do you want to feel like this again?” so I think you’re on to something.
Brunson wasnt traded, but your point remains for the rest of the roster.
I think what’s even more relevant is that every player on the Knicks has come up short in deep playoff runs multiple times. They know how hard it is to get here and what kind of singular focus it takes to not blow this opportunity. Of course, everyone knows that at a surface level and can repeat the platitudes ad nauseam, but there’s a world of difference between being told something and knowing it abstractly vs. experiencing something directly and knowing it deep in your bones and your gut.
Conversely, this is the very first deep playoff run for all of the Spurs’ main rotation players (even Fox, who before this only got to the first round once). Kornet and Barnes have been on title squads and I’m sure they’re in the young guys’ ears all the time, but some thing can’t ever sink deeply into your bones, into the essence of your being, until you’ve been through the relevant deep and painful personal experiences firsthand.
Brunson was not traded. Quite the opposite
Yeah and the knicks were seconds away from 2-0 going to 2-2. No reason it cant be 3-3 in 2 more games. Gotta keep your foot on the gas.
I mean, both are the right mindset to have for the situations they’re in (with the clip of Wemby obviously referring to the team when he says “everyone”).
If you don’t have a somewhat irrational belief that you will come back down 3-1, might as well not even show up. Obviously not as drastic a situation, but Spurs had the same mentality down 2-1 and then 3-2 to OKC.
Whereas up 3-1, you want to maintain a sense of urgency but stay calm/sticking to the game plan that got you there.
I agree on mindset but the Spurs “we keep giving them wins” comments have been lame as hell
The question was about the team and he said “everyone” as in everyone on the team knows/thinks we’re still going to win.
Humility that wasn’t acquired by training with monks
Spurs fan, but I agree. Humility is coming from playing the Knicks. I mean maybe… he could still be a dick I guess.
Maybe getting advice from TD instead of KG would help.
That whole monk narrative is so dumb. They arent even the peaceful monks, he went to Shaolin not Cambodia.
Brunson, Mikal and OG’s stoic behavior are quite a contrast to Wemby’s ‘I refuse to hide the burden of my emotions”.
They didnt need to go to a retreat, they learned that by experience. Those guys have a lot of scars from past playoff battles.
Also used to being counted out https://youtu.be/RYeT80pOySA?is=QiHjt5-gpOjvFFDX
KG actually asked him to tone down his emotions. Right after the WCF, when they were celebrating (rightly so), KG was like that’s what’s gonna cost them the title. And that’s exactly what played out in games 1 and 2 and again in th3 second half of G4 when they let their emotions get to them
humility from parental abuse >>>
That’s my captain
The Knicks will be the first team in NBA history to win the finals 1-0
It’ll still be 0-0
Silver: “Congrats KAT, you’ve won the championship. Here’s the trophy. How does it feel?”
KAT: “Job not finished. Job finished? What’s there to be happy about?”
Man, I so want to see the Knicks win tomorrow, to see them fully let loose for the first time! But I’m afraid Brunson will say “Opening Night is in 4 months. 0-0”
Seriously “gotta get better tonight, start preparing for defending the title next season, the past is over, doesn’t matter, all we can think about now is working to get better every day to be ready for next season”
Would be kinda funny if knicks is the team that repeats in the era of parity
ultimate fuck you to Nico and Butler.
He needs to just start hitting them with the Bobby hill
“Ok”
That boy aint right
This is the difference between Wemby and Brunson.
The WCF was a hard fought series and probably deserved some processing on part of the spurs, but the way they were celebrating as if they had just won the ring was their undoing in their 1st 2 games of the finals
I think Wemby even touched on it after the first 2 games, not to get too high or low, but the damage was done. They gave away 2 games at home court.
And again in game 4, got too high on the first half performance and broke down completely in the second half. I know its a young team, but its going to sting them for a long time after this series is done unless they can pull off an incredibly unlikely miracle
Seriously I got downvoted for saying it was like Patrick Beverly in the playins.
This is such a great mentality. Wish more people had it.
I feel like nearly every star player in the league would give this answer, or some iteration of “only the next game matters.”
They don’t and that’s why most of them fail to get up there
Meanwhile Spurs players keep going “we should have won every game!”
O’ Captain My Captain
Bro, that poem is an elegy. Don’t put that on our boy
*gasp* I truly had no idea
Jalen Brunson and Kenny Atkinson see the world in completely different ways.
Still can’t believe he would say that shit
From what I heard they’re analytically down 3-1 so it’s so cocky and arrogant to put yourself on a level playing field
If only he put in the due diligence to gain monk wisdom he would know that
Mentalità.
Definition of poise. Great leader.
Am I crazy for wishing he’d talk more shit
Na. Not after what Indiana did last year to the Knicks in that game 1 😭
Klay Thompson would agree talking shit up 3-1 has never come back to bite him.
I rather have that answer than NOT 1, not 2, not 3…not 4
Fucken Locked In. What a G. How you gonna send a corny monk to compete with this?
holy aura
When they won the game 4 and everyone was celebrating. This dude wasn’t even smiling. He ain’t done until the trophy is in his hand
Does 0-0 refer to Game 5’s score or to the series record?
Series record.
I love their poise.
3-1 is irrelevant if they can’t close out the next game. They need to act like this is the last basketball game they will ever play.
This is a man who realizes how easily it could be 3-1 the other way and isn’t counting the chickens. Knicks fans should be happy with that.
Breaking News: NBA has decided to turn back the clock and do a redo of the Finals Tournament since both parties are in agreement the Finals are now back to 0-0. Adam Silver says, “We need to give Wemb… uh… the fans what they want. Having a long pers… uh… finals is better for the sport and better for ratings.”
