Those are very new awards. He definitely would have won it the year they won the chip.

It seems it would be almost impossible to be both ROY and MIP in the same career. Would have to have either a terrible dip in the middle or improve to God-like status. I guess there have been a few ROYs that weren’t that impressive, but still unlikely to get MIP later.

I really liked the idea Steph could’ve been MIP after having been MVP. He jumped from great to historical.

I also like the idea that a player could be twice MIP. Imho Giannis had a case for that. Leonard as well.

I’m curious what your definition of “elite playmaker” is? I’ll admit I am a Bucks fan who has watched Giannis for years, so I’ve got some bias but I would categorize him as an elite playmaker. He had 18 assists in a game this season playing for the 25-26 Milwaukee Bucks. With Doc Rivers as the coach! They were playing 2008 style ball with no easy shots created by the offense. If that’s not elite playmaking then I don’t know what qualifies. Outside of Jokic is there a 4 or 5 that creates more open looks for their teammates?
