The OG putback has to be a Top 10 Finals play of all time
Title is self explanatory. I’d put this play just behind Lebron’s 2016 chasedown block and Jordan’s final shot in ‘98.
i mean OGs last 5 minutes of the game in entirety is one of the best stretches, considering how everything gets messy late in the Finals
made all 3 of his shots, including 2 clutch 3s. arguably game saving chasedown block to keep the score at 1. offensive rebound tip in to gain the lead.

What can I say I’m feeling inspired lol
Would be a great nickname for someone, especially the game of thrones implication
Who’s the ugliest player in the nba?
Foxhound
stealing this so it catches on
bro swiped the game from the fox
Dora the OG
This was OG Kawhi. Like literally stop every play on defense and score every time you shoot in crunch time. Super simple formula for winning. Obviously OG picked this formula up when he played w Kawhi in TOR otherwise everyone would just copy it
Well, I think he was like 3 feet away from Kawhi when he hit the shot. The aura alone would’ve infused him with power beyond our ken.
Agreed with this. Amazing stretch. Bit overrated on just the 1 play.
It’s definitely up there, but you’re comparing a play that won a finals game to ones that just flat out won the finals. Things happening in a close out game are just on another level. Even if the Knicks win in 5 and you can say “but they couldn’t have done that without the OG play,” there’s something different about it happening in the close out. It’s why we put series winning buzzer beaters on an entirely different level from playoff game winning buzzer beaters.
As someone who got downvoted for saying before the series that OG was playing like prime Kawhi and would be the difference maker, I am loving all the OG glaze.
Gotta win this series first
I think it’ll iconic regardless. Reggie lost the choke series, Iverson lost the Ty Lue step over series, but both ended up being the most iconic moments from those respective series.
A game winning put back to cap off a 29 point comeback is going into that category regardless of if the Knicks win or lose imo.
Yup, it was literally the biggest comeback in finals history. People will definitely remember it.
Unless Spurs win next 3. Then that’s all going to be remembered in a different light.
Can you even name the biggest comeback before this?
Forgotten if Spurs win in 7
Yes, Boston coming back from 24 down to beat the Lakers in LA in game 4 of the 2008 Finals. But they won that series, of course
I agree that they are remembered but neither of those are plays, one is a taunt and the other is a perceived act of disrespect.
Yeah there are plenty of really great plays that don’t get remembered from the losing team, it’s just harder to cite them cause, well, nobody remembers them
Yeah the closer parallels would be the Kawhi shot or Kyrie’s shot
Okay since we’re splitting hairs, how about Ben Wallace’s block on Shaq in 06? Arguably his iconic defensive play that people remember despite the Pistons losing that series.
A dope play is a dope play regardless of the outcome of a series, an OG scoring a tip in to cap off a 29 point comeback is a dope play.
Jerry West 3⁄4 buzzer beater is one of his biggest highlights even though he lost
Draymond trying to kick LBJ in the balls is an iconic moment from that series and GSW lost that..
3 of the top iconic moments in that 2016 series are from the winner; all near the end of Game 7 Game 7 LBJ chase down block on Iguodala and Kyrie’s step back 3 and Love defending Steph for his life and a championship
If they lose the series, it’s not in the same stratosphere as the plays OP named. LeBron beating the best regular season of all time and Michael completing a second three peat? It’s already not on the level of either of those plays, and if the Knicks aren’t even the champions then we’ll laugh at posts like this in the future.
Great play regardless but the context changes if the Knicks blow a 3-1 lead now
Yep. Funny, I’ve had in my head the Pacers actually won that series too. The Reggie moment is the only thing I remember from it.
Win or lose it’s a top 10 moment in finals history. It’ll be forgotten if you guys lose, but it would still make top 10 plays. A tip-in to complete a 29 point comeback is all-time.
Similar potential to Kobe’s ‘06 buzzer beater against the Suns to go up 3-1 only to lose in 7.
Woooooo
WOOOOO!
Still iconic even knowing how that series ended lol
Great example!…god damn it.
But that game was a core memory. Was at classmate’s house for a group project. Me and one other guy said we had to watch the end, so we went to the upstair TV while others continued to work. When Kobe won it, we were shouting our asses off. The other group members downstairs were like wtf was happening. We forgot we were at someone else’s house and just started screaming.
So iconic that if you asked some people they probably wouldn’t even know or remember we blew a 3-1 lead after lmao
Yeah, god could you imagine if that was series, probably top 5 than.
Agreed
Finally we have a sensible jinx defender. Quit talking about the all-time stuff and FMVPs, win game 4 first. It’s not like Knicks have blew the Spurs out of the water (in any game) and are up 3-0.
But yeah in my memory this OG putback is definitely top 10 moment. Top 3 if you are ranking them athletically. That was a crazy tip and crazy physical feat… Only ones that are in the same range probably lebron block, or that Larry bird out of bounds rebound/shot without landing on his feet (was it at the end of game, I forgot).
Nope. Still a top play regardless of series outcome.
Nah that shit is immortalized. I’ll never forget Hali’s jumper in game 1 last year either even though the Pacers lost.
There are zero chances Knicks lose after what happened so far.
No way Knicks lose at this point man just consider it a win, Spurs have been too inconsistent to win it
A classic for sure.
Once you consider what the top 10 actually is, i’m sure you’ll start to think through the moments that could be in the convo as well. Like Ray Allen’s shot is certainly above OG’s. Maybe even Magic’s hookshot in 87. Or Kyrie’s 3 in game 7 after the block.
But others dont seem to come to mind that deserve to go above it. Especially considering it was the game winning shot in the biggest comeback of all time.
It will definitely be iconic if the Knicks close out the series, and it will definitely be in those conversations as best moments ever forever.
MJ over Russell after stealing the ball from Malone was the only other one I could think of. Which is wild because all of those at series clinching. That OG run was just so amazing.
You also have to consider the greater context of the Knicks in general — 53 fucking years in the largest market in the country, in the world’s most famous arena, without a title. And OG rising up like a phoenix is what tipped the scales from 2-2 and deflation, to 3-1 and elation.
Clyde?
Storybook ending to a storybook career*
Do any other players have a championship-winning final* career shot?
So glad MJ retired after that series to cap off a magical career
LeBron block and kyrie’s 3 in game 7 definitely up there but I’d put OG at #4 or 5 ASSUMING we win the series
Agree on the “assuming part”. My wife asked me with 3 minutes left in Game 4 of the Cavs series if I still felt nervous and the honest answer was “yes”. So I feel you.
Agreed! I didnt mention it because OP already did in the post. But that’s arguably #1
And MJ’s is better (obviously) but only because of context. The sequence itself (even going back to the 3s OG made in the clutch) is just one of the best performances ever. My wife and I must have watched the final 4 minutes like 10 times last night. It never stopped feeling surreal.
There’s no argument about it if we’re being honest. Most iconic Finals moment of all time.
giannis block and dunk kawhi steal etc
giannis block
I was looking for this since people seem to have forgotten this play. Jrue steals it from Booker then throws an alleyoop to Giannis to go up 3.
That whole sequence was incredible.
It didn’t decide the game tho.
No tip means no win.
That’s not to say the Jrue/Giannis play isn’t up there, like wayyy up there, but any play/shot that changes who has the lead with 1 second left clears.
You could easily argue it decided the game just as much as OGs tip in, the Spurs still had time for a final shot.
i would argue that they had the same effect since they were in a more important game later in the series and besides if KAT doesn’t tip the inbound pass to Castle on the next play you guys lose
and 1 to go up 4 but ye
Aso that Kareem skyhook in 1974
Magics skyhook in 80
Don Nelsons shot in game 7 1969
I would put the OG shot over Kyrie.
OGs putback> MJs game winner /s
The Knicks are up 3-1 and will most likely win the series, BUT I think they actually need to win the series before we can have this discussion.
Like Kobe hit the shot in game 2 in 2004 that sent the Lakers to OT against the Pistons. Huge shot that we’d remember if the Lakers won that series. But now its the shot he made that prevented his team from getting swept. Way less impactful.
100%. It isn’t over until it’s actually over.
It’s crazy that a few dumbass plays have likely flipped this series from 3-1 spurs (or at least 2-2) to 3-1 knicks. We are almost certainly not good enough to give away 2 games and beat yall 3 more times.
I know this is cold consolation right now, but y’all got a rookie and two dudes under 23 who’ve just taken you to the finals in their first postseason run. They absolutely made some dumbass plays, but goddamn, it’s incredible how few they’ve made all things considered.
Not only that, but those youngsters haven’t exactly been passengers. The support cast is Fox (very non-veteran output last game), Barnes (barely in rotation for Finals), Champagnie (discarded by previous team), Johnson (looking miles from 6MOTY) and a deer-in-headlights rookie. At least Champagnie and Vassell are at the level you’d expect. But Wemby, Castle and Harper are the big three, as kids.
The poise and maturity overall has been amazing. Harper is going to wreck shit for a long long time.
Kobe’s 2000 Game 4 is arguably bigger than Pistons game tying shot… Game winning reverse putback.
With Shaq fouled out halfway through the OT, 21 year old Kobe took matters into his hands in OT scoring 8 points and willed the Lakers win.
I’m not trying to argue what was Kobe’s biggest playoff shot. I’m trying to argue how the result of a series is what creates the story around the impact of a shot.
and I’m trying to argue that a game winner will always be more impactful than a game tying shot.
If the 2004 shot was a game winner, it’d still be talked about more fondly.
I dunno, Kobe’s OT buzzer beater over the Suns in the 2006 playoffs is considered an iconic moment for his career but the Lakers ended up losing that series after blowing a 3-1 lead
That scenario was way different though. Kobe’s shot isn’t remembered because Kobe choked the series. Meanwhile, OG has been performing exceptionally well and might be the favorite for fmvp.
My overall point was just to wait for the series to be over before saying something is a top 10 most impactful player ever. Do you think after game 2 in 2004 people were saying “that was a great shot but too bad Kobe chocked this series”?
Most definitely, My love for OG has skyrocketed 10x fold after this game and I already loved him because Luka loved him
For real though, when you got Luka hyped you know it’s special. That man was losing his mind on the bench
OG is such a class act too ! Not a Knicks fan but much respect to OG
You’re crazy if you think this is above Ray Allen’s shot in game 6
BANG!!!! TIED GAME WITH 5 SECONDS REMAINING!!!!
James catches, puts up a 3! Won’t go! Rebound Bosh, back out to Allen. His 3 pointer
Remember it by heart and I still get chills every time
IIIRC, the trophy was literally carried out and they were ready to celebrate
On one side, it was later in the series which carries more weight. On the other, it tied the game rather than won it. Fucking incredible career defining play and Top 5 Finals shot.
I’d say it is In the same league though, given that it completed NY’s massive comeback to take the lead with 1 second left.
If I wrote the script this would’ve been the first NYK lead rather than regaining the lead, but I can’t argue with the outcome
I don’t think it’s that crazy to have that feeling. That moment of deflation when Brunson’s shot clanks only for Anunoby to come flying in like a superhero and tip it in for MSG to erupt and take firm control of the finals is the stuff of legend.
If Ray Allen’s shot misses, the Spurs win the series, LeBron’s entire legacy changes, the thoughts around super teams change….thru already had the ropes for the trophy presentation on the court.
OG’s tip is a top 10 Finals moment if they go on to win the series. But it’s not in the same tier as Ray’s shot when you consider the stakes.
My guy that’s cause you are looking at it with hindsight. We don’t really know the stakes of this tip in yet
We knew the stakes of Ray’s shot right then and there in the moment.
I think the type of play matters too though. At the end of the day, rays shot was just a normal looking shot. OG did something thay felt pretty unique and unbelievable
Not sure the Spurs have the hunger they had in 2014 had they won in 2013. Also, they never won back to back titles in their entire dynasty run with Tim Duncan.
It kinda reminded me of the shamet 3 in the Cavs game. In that You can hear the crowd go awww when it first hit the rim. Then it bounces a few times and falls and the crowd pops
I was in Miami when it happened. I will never downplay that shot. But to rise above all those Spurs for that putback game winner…
Its a very impressive play but ultimately it wasn’t to win the series or stave off elimination. If he had missed the knicks would still have had 3 more chances to win 2 games.
Chicago with the lead, Blocked by James, and Ray Allen’s three are the only ones 100% better than it for me.
A lot of people will say Kyrie’s shot, but I think the fact there’s like 50+ seconds left when he hits that and less than two seconds when OG puts in the tip may swing it towards OG for me. It’s close, and it’s too recent for me to be 100% sure the OG tip was better without it being recency bias.
Kyrie shot was absolutely lethal but anyone who actually watched that game and that series understand the block was the biggest play of that game and series for deciding the winner. Art that point everyone has the same understanding that the next person to score wins
The thing with the Kyrie shot is that there was plenty of time left in the game for someone to score. The Kevin Love lockdown happened after that shot as well so when Kyrie hit it, it wasn’t definitively like the Cavs just won the game off that.
Jerry west full court buzzer beater
Jordan game 1 buzzer beater in the 97 finals also
Kawhi up there
Hate the Knicks but gotta respect OG and his game . Can and does it all
Hate you guys too! (But man Maxey and VJ are fun to watch… which I hate of course… but in the good way)
This is definitely a prisoner of the moment post. Of the 2020s, most likely. But there are easily more than 10 plays since 2010, let alone before that. Context matters and if OG misses that tip, it’s still a 2-2 series with Knicks having already won 2 games in the Spurs building (combined with the NY fans travel turning them into pseudo home games).
Skill vs luck also plays a factor. Although I do think OG intended it as a tip, he was so far away and his forward momentum makes me think his internal monologue is “tip it toward the rim and crash the 3rd attempt.” Compare it to Giannis’ block on Ayton, there was nothing lucky about that one. Giannis straight up made the correct read and covered an amount of space and made a block that only perhaps 5 to 10 players in all of NBA history could have made. There are literally hundreds of players that could crash and potentially make that tip in with a bit of luck.
Although the Giannis block came with about a minute left, it was a pivotal game 5 where the series was tied 2-2.
This isn’t to shit on OG. It’s a great play. Just not top 10 of all time.
I’d love to hear 10 better Finals plays since 2010
“Easily more than 10”……proceeds to list one. Vanishes. Love reddit.
Lebron chase down block Jordan over Russell Ray Allen 3 Kyrie game winner Iverson step over of Lue Kerr’s shot to win the finals Holiday steal to Giannis oop Magic sky hook Magic at center Willis Reed enters the game Haliburton game winner Robert Horry 3
I recall Rob Artest having a big shot but can’t recall the game. I think I’ve gotten to 10. Honestly Jordan probably has more to add to the list as well. Maybe the shoulder shrug.
that was all since 2010?
Artest’s shot i remember being like a line drive 3. He was never a pretty shooter.
If the Knicks win, I believe the OG block and putback are up there against any of those iconic moments. The Knicks are the biggest market team with the longest stretch of mediocrity.
See response 4 min after you. Sometimes people can’t immediately respond within an hour.
Just off the top of my head without even looking at the year by year:
Ray Allan’s 3, LeBron’s chasedown, Giannis on Ayton, Holliday steal on Booker, Kyrie shot over Steph, LeBron’s shot against the Spurs with 20 something seconds left, 2017 Durant over LeBron when down 2 (goes up 3-0 compared to 3-1 for OG but a more skilled play), 2018 Durant 30 ish footer when up 1 eith less than a minute left
I’m sure I can look back and find a few more when I have time. But thats a fairly easy 8 imo.
Edit: commas
Never! All top ten moments in NBA finals history all occurred in last nights game in a series that they could still lose.
Chase down block with 12 seconds left into putback go ahead basket to cap the biggest comeback in finals history is top 3 plays in nba history and has a good argument for top spot.
Let them win first before saying top 3 or 1. You have the whole of finals history to choose from and there’s a lot of contenders. Def the most iconic Knicks moment outside of Fraizer limp
True true. Jobs definitely not finished yet. 0-0.
and has a good argument for top spot
Umm, sorry buddy, I know you’re biased but a shot to go up 3-1 vs one that seals a championship will NEVER be on the same level. If this were a game to seal the title, then of course it has an argument but it wasn’t, so therefore it isn’t on that level.
Off the top of my head:
This generation of NBA fans have been eating good.
It pains me but Robert Horry’s 3 in game 5 in 2005 should be on the list.
The sequence from blocking that boneheaded Fox layup attempt to getting that insanely difficult tip in to go - albeit with a timeout inbetween - just beautiful stuff. In a pivotal game at a series defining point as well.
Plays I would clearly put above OG’s tip-in (not ordered other than Ray Allen is 1)
Tier 1: Alone in it’s own tier as it completely brought a team back from the dead.
Tier 2: Iconic championship clinching moments
Kyrie Game 7
Jordan Game 6
Lebron’s Block
Giannis’ Block
Tier 3: Iconic finals game winning shots I would say are equal to OG
Magic hook shot (I give this the slightest edge as it has the extra superstar aura points as Magic wanted this shot and went and did it and made it, but this is a game winner with under 2 seconds left to win game 4 and go up 3-1 in the finals by winning 107-106, these are basically the fucking same)
I’d probably put OG here. If the knicks win this year itll go from 7 to co-6.
Robert Horry Game 5 vs Pistons
Dirk game 2 2011
Dirk game 4 2011
I think this is my top 10 probably, just based on stakes and where the series was when it happened, plus retrospect for if the team won. If the Knicks blow the 3-1 then the OG shot is all but forgotten, kind of like Tony Parker in 2013.
Also, shout out to Gary Payton in 2006.
Interesting ranking. Though I’m curious as to why you put Giannis’ block in the Iconic championship clinching moment? It was a great iconic block, I’ll give you that. But it was in Game 4 of the ‘21 Finals. Ultimately, it kept the Bucks in the series as they tied it 2-2.
Fuck, you’re so right. I don’t know why my brain convinced itself that was in game 6 to win it. Move it down to the tier below with the other ones.
not ordered other than Ray Allen is 1
LOL, MJ’s final shot as a Bull will always be the most iconic Finals shot/sequence in NBA history. It is way above Allen’s three….wth are you even thinking.
It was Michael Jordan, everything he did was more iconic than Ray Allen.
That doesn’t mean it’s the best play though.
If Malone bullies Jordan there and lays it in to win game 6, they would have went back to Chicago for game 7. If Ray Allen missed, the spurs win the championship.
I get you might hate KD but that game 3 shot in 2017 was fucking epic bruh
Kd’s shot was clutch but all of these moments happened in closer series than his. He hit that shot in game 3 to go up 3-0.
Ftr, I was thinking about his shot but I think it misses the top 10.
Edit: also, I don’t hate KD at all. I’m pretty vocal about thinking that this rings are more and more valid as time goes by, and that’s not the popular opinion.
I’m just happy for my yet unborn child that he won’t be the only Asian Ogugua in his classroom.
He flew in there like Superman
Airunoby with them sketchers
Idk there are so many iconic moments in finals but this one is in top tier category for sure.
Just off top of my head some others…
Magic’s baby hook
Ray Allen’s 3
A SPECTACULAR move by Jordan
Iverson stepping over Lue
People forget that capped off 13 straight field goals for MJ in that game.
It’s the biggest finals moment since the kyrie jumper.
I think it’s the biggest moment since the Giannis alley. Thought I’d put this over the Giannis play since the Bucks were already ahead before that
That play was a straight up show of dominance, but doesn’t carry the same weight.
This is way bigger.
Very respectfully, that finals fucking sucked and was 2 teams that weren’t really championship caliber going at it in the most injury riddled season of all time. And no one cared about either team outside of Giannis and Chris Paul kinda.
This is the fucking Knicks who are worth a fuck for the first time in my lifetime vs the chosen one in an incredible series where both teams are actually great.
Not Shais flop?
Lots of key plays towards the last seconds. The moment the Knicks got to within single digit deficit, I wanted them to win (I’m neutral) because they deserved it at that point and Spurs did not.
OG played at IU when I was a student there. Loved the guy then, and even though I’m rooting for the spurs I love seeing him beast out.
Absolutely. That was the play of series so far. And Wemby defending Brunson on the perimeter enabled that play from happening.
After Game 3 I said I’d be having “OG late shot clock corner 3” PTSD the rest of my life.
I’m changing that to “I’ll be having playoff OG PTSD the rest of my life.”
Jordan Game winner in game 1 of the 97 finale
It’s probably one of top 10. up there more so with the Magic Johnson jr skyhook, the Robert horry 3 in Houston and some of the others. The plays mentioned above happened in the deciding game. Can argue the Paxson 3 or the Kerr 3 but those were both deciding game
nice man, I went to bed at the end of the 3rd 💀
i almost went after the 1st half ended but got busy with something then decided to watch the 3rd then said to myself only one quarter left and kept watching
Og is their finals MVP if they win. Each game he has hurt the spurs with clutch plays. Jalen and KAT have been impressive with some great plays but OG has been amazing.
I agree it’s a great play but there’s a lot of great plays in the finals idk if there’s enough space for everyone
OG for MVP
Should have been 1st team all defense
Just imagine if Lebron hit that dunk at the end of Game 7 in 2016 lol
Could have been the most iconic poster dunk of his career
Link the highlight
You are insane. Great play, I don’t think it would make the Top 25.
Might make top 25, top 10 is definitely presumptuous
If it was an emphatic putback dunk then yes. Top 10. All time great moment for shre
It completed the best single game comeback in NBA history. It’s easily top 10 especially if the Knicks win the championship.
Please go ahead and name all the plays you think are better than a game-winning putback to cap off the greatest comeback in NBA Finals history. We’ll all wait.
The putback itself was a nice, but pretty pedestrian play. The only reason it’s memorable is because of the comeback that preceeded it. If you want to call this one of the greatest games ever, I’d listen, but that play was just fine.
Ray Allen 2013, Kyrie 2016, Tyrese last year, Jordan 98, Jordan 97, Sam Jones 1969, Gar Heard 76, Magic 87, that’s 8 clearly better plays off the top of my head without looking anything up. I’m sure I could pull plenty more with a little research.
So a Jordan pull back mid range is not pedestrian? A Kyrie stepback 3 isn’t pedestrian? The only reason any of these plays are on the list is the context lol.
Yes, those plays are all better in a vacuum. The context of the moment counts for all of them to me, so the fact that the tip in was in the final minute of a one point finals game is important, Just not the hundreds of other plays in the game. 5 years from now someone is going to ask a similar question as this thread, and no one will bring up the OG tip in.
West launching a behind half court shot to send the game to OT and Ray Allen corner 3 immediately are ahead of the putback. Haliburton game winner last year could be argued. There’s probably a lot of other examples that I could give if I went and spent time going 1 by 1.
It’s maybe up there in the top 10, but you only put 2 moments over it in your description, indicating you believe it to be 3rd all time, hence the nature of my comment.
And the raptors basically traded him for RJ straight up 😂
No tragedy here. IQ and RJ have been good additions to the Raptors.
The Raps weren’t the same soon after the championship run so it wasn’t going to be the right fit anymore.
And now we get to see his brilliance in a championship series that he missed out on the first time.
i know i am not seeing a Pelicans flair trying to clown a franchise for a trade
it’s a trade that benefitted both teams
It’s not like I made the fucking trades ofc they’ve been dog shit. Doesn’t make the raptors any less fleeced because of a Reddit flair.
We will see if this all ages well. Sure, the Knicks are likely to win this series, but it’s still 3-1. The Knicks have to finish the job. I would say if the Knicks win in at least 6 games, the block AND the tip would go down as among the best plays in Finals history.
However, I’d argue that if this goes 7, even if the Knicks win that game, then the block and tip, while iconic, will have less staying power. That is because the Knicks had the opportunity of a lifetime to complete the mission, but messed up, leading to a 7th game.. which would be in San Antonio. And anything can happen in a game 7, especially in the Finals. Thus, the OG block AND tip would rank like the Gerald Henderson steal and layup that helped the Celtics steal game 2 against the Lakers in 1984, in which the Celtics won in 7 games. Incredible plays that stole key games in the Finals.
I agree, but put it ahead of the 2016 chasedown block, no need to talk about that anymore….
no i do think we need to talk about that
Great iconic clutch moment But so many good ones that its tough to know where it ranks
-MJ at the buzzer in 1997……. -MJ layup, steal, jumper in 1998…… -Lebron block….. -Kyrie 3…… -Magic’s hook shot in 87….. -Paxson for three……
Leaving out Ray Allen and Jerry West just because the games went longer.
Definitely
He’s my vote for NBA Finals MVP
Of all time? No. It was great though
Top 5
Everything is all time as soon as it happens
Job is not done yet
It’s like top 3 for me since I started watching the NBA since 2004. Up there with the Ray Allen shot and the LeBron block.
He got the block and the tip in. I don’t wanna ever see that damn block by James clip ever again. Specially since Kyrie shot was more important anyways.
this is just recency bias and everyone who has seen 20 NBA finals know this is top 15 at best.
It’s quite obviously more important than the LeBron play
i’d have it tied w/ the chasedown block. that block had 2 minutes left but this was 12 seconds. on the other hand it’s a game 7 vs game 4 (obv game 7 more important but game 4 is pretty close)
Prisoners of the moment. If OG didn’t make the putback, then it’s 2-2 going back to San Antonio. Bad, sure, but still easily winnable. The block had much higher stakes being a game 7, AND against the best regular season team in history, AND the Cavs were coming back from a 1-3 series deficit.
well to be honest i’m kind of combining OG’s chasedown block + putback since it was the same player
but otherwise agree
Shit is top 1
Jordan’s shot Ray Allen’s shot Bron block Kyrie 3 Magic baby hook (Not technically a play) Willis Reed coming through the locker room to play
These are unquestionably better imo.
Arguable:
Horry corner 3 vs Pistons 2005 Kerr jumper Paxson jumper Iversons jumper and step through. I wanted to put it up in the unquestionably better category, but they lost so I couldn’t. This is iconic, however, and will be (and is) remembered more fondly than most of the other plays listed here
Fun exercise. A lot less instantly memorable finals moments than I was expecting.
Young bloods. Wasn t there game tying half court bank shot in the 57 finals
I can’t find anything on it
I’d put it as #2 behind MJ. Lebron’s block was awesome but OG and Jordan had huge defensive plays followed by the go ahead bucket. MJ gets the bump bc they won the chip w/his shot.
Both team are weak
yea right after lebron’s block
It’s funny that I know EXACTLY what block you’re talking about.
Ray Allen cemented LeBron’s legacy was a better play.
There are 2 plays in game 7 of 2016 finals final two minutes ALONE that are bigger than this shot lol. Stop it man don’t be a prisoner of the moment.
You’re not wrong but let’s not act this wasn’t the greatest finals comeback in history with OGs final stretch being one of the best oat
A Kyrie 3 with a minute left to play is not better than the OG putback to cap off the greatest comeback in NBA finals history.
Huh?
It was against the defending champs, in game 7, on the road, vs. the 73-9 Warriors, capping off a 3-1 comeback first time in NBA History…winning Cleveland their first championship ever…missing that shot means they likely lose the championship.
vs
OG missing a shot will take the series to 2-2…
Take off your Knicks goggles fam.
