[SNY] Josh Hart: “I got a special shout-out for OG because he saved me, at least for this game, a lifetime of regret.”
Generational save by the Hand of OG
such a sick name for the one of most iconic plays in NBA history
I honestly don’t get it, am I dumb
Hand of God is the nickname for a goal Maradona scored in the 1986 world cup
So, rather than his foot or his head, he scored using his hand (also references famous Hand of God plays in soccer)
The hand of God is a legendary goal by Diego Maradona in the world cup
For real. You can see harts soul leave his body when he misses
If the Knicks lose I’m not gonna lose any sleep, but after that play happened I was rooting as hard as I could for them to win or not lose by <=2.
Honestly so much happened I forgot about this blunder
We gotta thank Fox for that
Maradona approves 😂😂😂😂
OG probably doesn’t. He’s English and that’s one of the most painful sporting moments in history.
He was -11 when that happened.
Being fair, I like being salty about the 72 Soviet vs USA game because why not?
Maradona got more hand to it than OG
just the tip
Going to be so many shitty tattoos of that hand tipping it in
The hand of D-OG
Praise…Og!
Name your kid Ogugua in honor of this life saving grace.
I already told my wife that’s what we’re doing … Oh you meant Josh
“If I’m Serge Ibaka Josh Hart, I’m naming my first son Dirk Ogugua”
I just am!
Thought I was in r/billsimmons for a second. (I just did!)
If Serge wasn’t going to name his first child “Dirk” it definitely should’ve been “Ogugua”. As we all know, OG put him on scarves.
You’re not saying it right. It’s Ogugua.
How did you mess the pronunciation up so badly. It’s Ogugua.
“No no, I’m saying it right” - OG to the Inside the NBA crew
Pretty sure OG stands for original gangster
Older Gentleman
Octo-Genarian
He’s got twins. He should take this chance to rename them O and G.
His name is JASON
just remembered Josh Hart blew a 1 vs 0 fastbreak even before he fell asleep and fouled Castle on the offensive rebound
and was slow getting past wemby back screen on the last play
if kat doesn’t tip the inbound, its a free dunk
Dude was gassed af
For real. Hart is one of those guys where you can never question the effort. He just looked like he hit a wall physically.
I mean it was a great screen and inbounds play design, when everyone would have expected it to go to Wemby. Castle was breaking free toward the basket. That tip was so clutch by KAT, otherwise it might have worked.
I was saying that it should go to Castle as soon as they called timeout. Fox can’t handle a last shot and idk about Wemby for 1 single shot with the coverage he would get. Castle is fearless enough to trust him but KAT got the tip
Big for Hart. The missed dunk/layup and no box out+foul could have been a 4-point swing. So glad OG made the play. Hart gives his all for NY and his time there should be remembered for all the right reasons.
Been this way since hish freshman year at Villanova, this is the Josh Hart experience. He could go 35-10-10 on Saturday or foul out with 2 pts and neither would surprise me
He’s lucky Wemby missed those free throws
All after he played a huge part in changing the culture of the team and running around like a maniac night after night to get the team to this point, yeh.
You can be a winner and lose. You can be clutch but miss the big shot. You can be a hustler that gets caught ball watching. A few plays doesnt define a player
Gotta dunk that in Hart.
looked like he just didn’t get the lift and then overthought what to do with it
for sure.. he was like wait im not gonna make it lol
Also near the end of a super physical game and series. I’ll talk shit but I always keep in mind these guys are legit battling athletic giants. Can’t imagine how much conditioning and endurance that takes
You guys try draging Wembenyama and Castle up and down the court for 48 minutes.
I’m an airline pilot.
So imagine having to out maneuver a raptor and blackbird while you’re piloting your 747 for 48 minutes
I would watch that
No for real they’re out there making 6’2” look short it’s so easy to forget how monstrous these dudes are.
yup i actually called Brunson midget and he fuckin 6’2
Watching the game with a group of friends at a bar and one guy’s says he’s tiny referring to Brunson. I say he’s my height… and a lot stronger. She was shook
He is technically 6’1 barefoot. Shoes put him at 6’2.
Makes him even more incredible.
I think this is why AI always got so much love
Jose is a legit 5’10
They’re gassed beyond what they thought possible and are still doing what they do. Incredible.
3 mins early and Mitch already gassed was hilarious
conditioning doesn’t come easy too when you’re like 6’7 and 240. the cuts, the changes in direction are also harder on the body.
Easy if you’re a 5’10 soccer player zipping up and down the pitch. Though they have such an absurd amount of gametime and cover so much ground every game it ends up being just as bad for them tbh.
KAT dripping bullets into the mics was crazy
No doubt a lot of the weird stuff happening at the end of the game was everyone being totally gassed
“hell ya time for a dope ass dunk…fuuuuuuu…..”
looked like tired legs and then he kind of took strides that were too long
it’s just weird because it’s something you almost never see
one of the best break and coast to coast finishers in the game smoking a layup or dunk in the Finals in a key spot definitely didn’t expect it
He literally messed up the two things he’s the best at… I can’t imagine how he would be feeling if it wasn’t for OG. That fast break, when he is such a good finisher, and then not boxing out or getting that rebound and the subsequent foul, when he is THE hustle guy in the entire NBA. That was a disaster sequence for him.
He turned at a weird time as well. Checked to make sure he was clear and started taking off at once
i dont see a replay anywhere but from what i saw, he super overexerted on that 2nd to last step, and it likely impacted his takeoff a lot and surprised him. Not surprising in a moment like this, half the players just looked kinda nervous out there.
yep, I saw the same thing. that + tired legs and he didn’t have the lift.
I like hart now but as a lakers fan that’s classic hart lmao
it looked like he tried
but honestly i’m impressed NY didn’t lose any momentum after that moment
Think wemby missing both fts brought back the momentum
Honestly the game was such a whirlwind I thought that the missed FTs happened before that.
ya it was hart misses layup hart fouls wemby then hart fouls castle hoenstly disasterclass from him but hey it happens
he’s played well the whole series, so I mean, it was kinda due. thankfully for the knicks, it came just as the spurs were coming apart at the seams.
The anger sharks are swimming in my head… YOU GOTTA DUNK THAT SHIT
It looked like he tried but didn’t get the altitude
He’s quoting Anger Management
Oh lol
They’re gassed and he just didn’t get enough lift. Same with JB. Making some incredible plays, but also committing some really silly TOs. But, as others are pointing out, these guys are gassed. On most possessions, JB is in constant motion for 20 seconds and getting no easy shots. Must be exhausted.
Look at the stat box and it looks like KAT should be doing more, but Wemby’s D on him is suffocating. No easy looks for him at all.
YOU GOTTA DUNK THAT SHIT
This man is grabbing 30 rebounds in Game 5. No way does he let Game 4 be his 2026 Finals identity.
And shoutout to JB, KAT, and Jose who immediately picked him up and were in his ears before the Wemby FTs.
Let’s not forget his insane Game 1
He also played great in game 3, need a player like him on a winning team
Hart is a dude and I’m glad he got bailed out here.
You can tell how hard he plays and if sucks when plays like this happen to players like him.
People are toxic. He wouldn’t even be in this position to fumble if he didn’t make such a large contribution to the Knicks winning in general.
Yeah, as disappointed as I was, I was really happy to see his teammates immediately come to console him after he botched the layup. Shit happens, gotta keep playing through it.
the power of friendship for real
Any clips?
Right as Wemby was fouled after the missed fast break. Hart was on the floor dejected. KAT and JB run to help him up immediately. Jose ran up to them clapping and hyping up Josh.
I heard Doc Rivers say that the new NBA model is team building not star collecting. These Nova Knicks and KAT have the glue guys and character to pull it off.
You can see it for a second in these highlights at 6:25.
After fouling Wemby, Hart is on the floor and puts his head in his hands and you can see KAT, Brunson, and Jose go up to him.
Thanks!
OG the redeemer
OG laying Hand
OG Hand of God
Hand of Og.
OG the merciful
Would have been a shame if a player who plays as hard as Josh hart’s most memorable career moment was a blown layup
Word. Hate to see what happened to say Bill Buckner happen to him.
What’s nice about Bill’s legacy now is that everyone on that Met’s team gives him his flowers and understands that on a whole that collapse was set in motion far before the error. The glove miss was just the icing on the cake to Mookie’s run.
Yeah, I mean even Mookie says that he would have beat it even if he made the play - I don’t believe him… but I think he’s trying to give the dude a break there.
And the missed box out. Two ROUGH plays by him down the stretch.
When he’s usually the one making winning plays
The box out was genuinely so worse he just let the rebound happen
He’s gonna have a big game 5 to make up for it. Dude is a warrior
I wish he was a Warrior.
I think he looks more like a Bull
I think he looks good right where he is. And this may be a hot take, but he seems to like it here.
I dunno, clearly he needs to go play in a big market like L.A.
He was a laker
We’re due for a Hart game. There’s one a series’s where he pops off
He had 15 boards game 1
understatement of the century, he would be the most hated man in NY if they blew this game and series on that
probably still trump
Its not even close
like forreal….not even close. like completely different stratospheres. we’d send Hart to the moon first
I genuinely don’t think Trump would survive another week if the Knicks lost 4 in a row after his ill-fated appearance.
Yeah very easily.
Shit would’ve been played over and over like the Ewing missed layup
i was more pissed at him falling asleep for the rebound right after
Nah it’s all good, it wouldn’t have been the series
wemby did miss 2 FTs so that kindve evens out
kind have
The one time “of” was the right call
NY will never hate Hart.
John Starks notoriously absolutely blew it in game 7 of the 1994 finals and everyone still loves him. He’s been one of the most visible and excited ex players this entire playoff run.
Josh is one of those guys that makes up for his mistakes with effort. He closed out the rest of the game strong defensively. He’ll put up a memorable performance before this series is over.
Didnt he let castle get the rebound near the end?
Yeah this is some revisionist nonsense. If Knicks lost hart would for sure be the one getting memed to death instead of Fox.
Yes he was caught ball watching
Yeah, he did. But he’ll be better next time.
Im a huge Josh Hart fan but he continued making mental lapses for the rest of the game.
I have no doubt he’ll make up for it with effort next game, but your comment is just straight up wrong lmao
Yep, that miss shook him big time
Except he didn’t. Didn’t box out castle on the OReb, fouled castle, and was late getting around the screen on the very last play
Without Hart the Knicks never make that come back, dude had the second most rebounds on the team, and husked his ass off
We all still love you Josh!
One of the most likable personalities in the league. It’s hard to believe that he used to be a Laker 🤮
It feels like so many good role players were on the Lakers. That Russ trade was devastating
Hart was in the AD trade, to be fair.
Hart and a bag of chips were sent to pels for AD. They went from a non playoff team to winning the bubble off that trade alone
I am pretty sure you are missing someone
it’s very funny to hear this after years of “Lakers gave up too much!!”
Still suffering from it. Worst trade in lakers history
Hard to believe all it took to get him was Cam Reddish.
Everyone needs an OG in their life.
Josh I’m deadass if OG asks you to suck his dick you actually have to do it
Let OG put his thumb in this time.
It’s in the fine print Josh, your agent didn’t mention it?
😂

Hart played solid stand up defense on the last play of the game by Castle. So I think he made up for it. The important thing was to not foul on that play and he did that.
KAT deflected the pass and saved Hart’s ass because Castle had him beat for the alley-oop. But after that you’re right, Hart did play the recovery well.
He should shoutout Wemby for those missed free throws as well
Shhh no one saw that 😂
OG for the FMVP
This is fucking real. Shout-out to him for acknowledging that mistake and for giving OG his props.
This lowlight would’ve been played over and over on all time blunders.
Thank God for OG.
If the Knicks win I am very excited to hear more about this on their pod
Remember, Josh only won 1 title with us at Villanova :)
That is exactly the kind of Teammates and friends WE all need. God Bless ya, Hart, you speak the Truth.
Brunson could say the same thing after that initial shot attempt
That was fine. Last possession he tried to go inside but Wemby was affecting everything. The 3 was clean at least.
its a good shot. you shoot early so you can get a putback or you can foul. you make it youre up by 2.
I don’t know if it’s a “good” shot, but I think it’s definitely one you can live with.
Fox was there quick, no guarantee he can even pass out of that double clean.
He was just short on it. He had a similar shot over wemby earlier.
Nah Brunsons shot was fine in that moment. They don’t all go in but it wasn’t a bad shot.
I feel like they planned that to shoot early if Wemby was outside the paint to give themselves 2 chances
Yep. If OG’s tip doesn’t go Towns was in dominant rebounding position. You get a Jalen Brunson 3 (good) and if it doesn’t go you’re 4 on 3 vs 3 Spurs guards.
You can actually see Towns ready to put it back in as time expires if OG’s tip didn’t go, it really went perfectly for the Knicks on that play
As good an initial shot as you were going to get in that situation with 5 second left. Knicks would happily live or die with that I think
With that much time and wemby out of the paint it was the right call - difficult to pass out of and still no time left, plus no wemby block out/rebound
Much better to get a shot up with time to try to get an offensive rebound than milk the clock and shoot with not enough time left. The spurs made that mistake in an earlier game and didn’t give themselves time to even try to get an offensive rebound.
If he tried to get closer Wemby was gonna get the block. It was a good shot for the circumstances because it gave them time for the put back and also had Wemby out of the paint.
That was a good shot
Love the self awareness here
We’d all be talking about that layup if this went the other way, and not boxing out afterwards
I was just happy we started to show some life in the third. To win is unbelievable
He should keep his head up. He plays balls to the wall every night and one messed up layup doesn’t mean shit. Now two missed Wemby free throws on the other hand …
Or a Wemby pass into someone’s back and then fouling the player who recovered it….
What about dribbling it off his foot
When he just let Castle get that offensive board (and two FTs) for free I’m sure he was absolutely killing himself inside.
Imagine if Fox didn’t make that boneheaded attempt or if OG didn’t get that tip. Your team came back from 29 down and you were lazy on one play. I mean there’s the blown layup/dunk but at least that wasn’t an effort issue.
The Knicks comeback wasn’t clean, there were mistakes all over the place. He just made one of the later ones
OG saved Brunson. Dude had so many turnovers late. Should be 2-2 heading back to SA.
Analytically the Spurs are up 3-1 rn according to the Cavs coach lmao.
The Knicks played one of the worst halves imaginable. It was a miracle they even had a shot, boy they did.
A wild take when Brunson was absolutely vital to the comeback beyond just the shots he hit was how much attention he kept getting from Spurs defenders.
This dude could have become JR Smith tonight
Instead Fox is the new JR Smith
That’s super real from him, he knows it would be a lifetime of shame
Yeah Love Josh but fs made some bad plays down the stretch. Trust him to not make the same mistakes next time tho
Wouldve been the next JR Smith meme lmao
this is how you become next level, acknowledge your mistakes and understand this could of been way different. But the way he says remember forever means everything . thats the key. dont ever forget and use it as fire.
next game this kid is going to erupt, I can see it in his eyes. Mistakes are different for everyone.
But this kid? Never Again. GL SPURS
Josh Hart is always real.
I know everyone’s gonna talk about og and the tip but that dude is shooting 50% from three these finals that’s insane.
OG had the hand of God himself for that tip in. Its like all of New York landed him their energy Saiyan style
Good reminder to always slam dunk those ones. Also nba players do miss shots, even easy layups/dunk attempts. Dont be too hard on Josh. They won.
The average couch potato thanks you for reminding us to dunk it in our next pick up game at the park.
OG probably also saved a spurs fans life
This is DeAaron Fox erasure
for real, It’d be this generations Ewing finger roll
