The Replay Center in Secaucus, New Jersey, shall not be required to zoom in on the footage to determine boundaries. If it is visible from the upper deck, it is a foul.
Resumption of Play:
Following the assessment of the Technical Foul, the opposing team will be awarded one free throw. The player who attempted the free throw must be allowed to wash their hands immediately afterward if they so request. Play will resume via a sideline inbound at the point nearest to where the exposure occurred, provided the area has been cleared by arena staff.

That’s just outcome bias. That season the Seahawks had been bad at scoring goaline rushing tds. That play had been successful for them and is an incredibly safe play in terms of turnover likelyhood. If they don’t get it the clock also stops ensuring they have enough time for 2 more plays (it was 2nd down with 20 seconds left).
And that’s being revisionist. Everybody at the time called the play stupid. “Incredibly safe” is a wild overstatement when you decide to throw a pass at the 1 yard line while having a guy named beast mode.
There was a higher likelihood that beast mode gets stuffed at the goal line again than an interception. Not a bad play call just an all time unfortunate outcome.

The football equivalent to this would be a team who could take a knee to run out the clock in the super bowl deciding to run a play and turning the ball over and losing. It is definitely dumber than the seahawks.
Not quite, there’s no perfect comparison but it would be something like going out of bounds or a QB throwing it away rather than going down and keeping the clock going.
That would be a conscious decision. What Fox did was in the moment, real-time reaction and his brain just didn’t make the right call in that split second, which is the whole point.
His coach failed him, could have called a time out once fox entered the 3 pt area. I get fox going full speed ahead because he’s in the game, but the coaches main job at the end of the game is write up plays and clock management

Nah this is so much worse. The Seahawks ran a good play and they were having some struggles in short yardage runs. They went against tendencies specifically because everyone knew they’d run, and then get stuffed as a result. Malcolm Butler just made an all time type of play at the right moment.
