Huge credit to Mike Brown, though. Had plenty of smart adjustments that won the game, like putting Alvarado in 4th quarter and trusting him to be another playmaker alongside Brunson, and not forcing KAT minutes even though they’re 20+ points down. Mitch Johnson’s definitely outcoached this series
I don’t get why Jose didn’t get more playing time to begin with. He’s always so good defensively, he’s very mindful and doesn’t really make bad decisions.
Hes a pest who fouls a lot and his offensive game is meh.

First one was a foul, just a soft one. Second one was garbage. Take away the wemby foul if you want, but to reverse that to offensive is some wild shit.. first of all just a bad call, second of all totally alters the trajectory of the game and the refs know it.
Honestly, if you watch closely, at the start of that play Wemby shoves KAT in the back, then sticks his arm into his midsection going for the ball. It’s literally two possible foul calls on Wemby.
They not only overturn that, but then somehow there’s an offensive foul on KAT simply for… dribbling, I guess? What’s he supposed to do if Wemby sticks his arm into his crotch?
Absolutely atrocious call early on and fucked over any possible chance at some early momentum.
Putting KAT in early foul trouble is how the extenders affect the game without being too obvious.

I do think there have been times when the whistle has been favorable to the Spurs and him in particular but the Knicks are fouling him a ton on every sequence in the game and he refs aren’t calling it.
My point isn’t that he’s not getting the benefit of the refs on the plays you call out. It’s just that the Knicks are also getting a lot of help with how they’re really mauling Wemby on a lot of possessions. I love it but we gotta call a spade a spade.
That’s just how it is with dominant centers. They don’t get as many foul calls. Lots of physicality by the basket is a given, refs would rather not make those calls.
