Honestly getting egged is not as bad as getting viciously elbowed by a 7’5” alien
Honestly spurs need a new coach. I would be fuming. The roster is too good to learn if Mitch is good enough to get a ring. The window is now.
Pride comes before a fall, talking to you Wimpy.
Spurs are talented enough to get to a game 7,
Yall think knicks gonna win this next game or nah?
I guess I haven’t been as online in previous finals but like, does the sub always go completely feral and insane during the finals? I’m seeing jaw dropping (derogatory) takes ripped off left and right,
Yeah mostly. Not really the place for nuance or sanity.
Wemby played 44 minutes, most of any Spurs. How do you play Wemby when you’re up by 20+ for long stretches of the game.
Coaching malpractice.
HOLY CHOKE JOB. Still can’t wrap my head around last nights game
Wemby got in Robinson’s head and learned how to miss free throws while he was there
The choke made me choke on my food
People are singling out Fox, but Wemby had a horrible TO at the end of game 2 to essentially lose the game
The Spurs are 0-3 when I manage to tune into the game. Skipping game 5+ is gonna be a win-win: either the Spurs win and vindicate my superstition or I miss the death knell.
I feel the need to point out that running 6’0” Jose Alvarado and 6’2” Brunson in the same lineup for 12 minutes of a finals game is some ayahuasca trip coaching and somehow it worked
That shit works fr if your PGs are dawgs, the way Brunson and Alvarado are. Lowry + Vanvleet (both 6 feet 0) fed families in the 2019 playoffs.
He ran that backcourt and kolek + Brunson a good amount in the regular season. Didn’t see it all playoffs until now I believe. Great move. Gave NY another legit ball handler to bring the ball up the court and got Brunson off ball a lot more
Mike Brown masterclass. Proved once again that small ball still has a place in the league
Also.. hadn’t done it before and balls to make that call first time
I remember seeing a Spurs fan commenting at halftime “If you’ve been watching the Spurs all year, you’re nervous as fuck right now” and I felt like saying “dude it’s 27 points…how could you be anything but confident”.
Boy, was he right.
Similarly, if you’ve been watching the Knicks, you know they weren’t out down 29, either.
Yall should thank Fox.
I’m convinced that the Spurs could have won if they simply stood there for 23 seconds and chucked a three with no time remaining.
They would have used up 14-16 minutes of actual game time. (A couple of those threes probably go in too)
Never shifting down from “we are killing the Knicks at fast paced basketball” is what did it. The Knicks haven’t looked great the past two games but they have the bench to play fast paced basketball as long as any team in the league imo.
If the Knicks win this series honestly the MVP should be OG even though I know they’re going to give it to Brunson
I’ve been saying it all playoffs. OG is the silent assassin & most consistent player on the Knicks. Never an off game. Never. Everyone else has on and off days and OG is just locked the fuck in all playoff games. My flair in the Knicks sub is OG for a reason.
Is it even gonna be Brunson? It feels like he misses everything until the second half
I thought Landry Shamet should’ve been the ECF MVP.
Yeah and enough receipts here already giving it to KAT a few days sgo.. we’ll see, ain’t over yet.. but I don’t disagree with you
I think if KAT could actually play, and be on the court as long as he should be, he’d be in lead position for MVP. His +/- is insane this series. He just… can’t stay on the court (not necessarily his fault)
True. Nice thing about this squad… it really ain’t a big deal who gets it. If none of them ever make an NBA fan ranking list of players.. it’s fine
100% - deep down, I’m sure Brunson may want FMVP, but I do truly think he’d be so extremely satisfied with a ring. Shutting everyone up about how a small player can’t lead a team.
I don’t think OG or KAT really give a fuck about it or even think about it. They just want 1 more win.
Yep. Bronson gets it.. deserves it, this whole thing is on his back of pressure. If KAT or OG gets it, all good they got the moments. If series goes on & insert dude.. cool. Villanova wants the banner
Series not over. Spurs have better talent.
I don’t see how this is relevant and it implies the Knicks *don’t* have talent. Maybe it’s not over, teams have come back from 3-1 before, but this “Spurs have the talent!” shit is tiring especially after a game they blew a 29 point lead.
They have more talent. Thats why they are always building double digit leads.
Ok, and then blowing them. So who cares? Maybe they’re actually evenly matched in terms of talent no matter how much coping Spurs fans want to do? Or fans who are rooting for them? The Knicks have also had big leads at times this series. They too have a ton of talent. That’s why they’re in the Finals.
This isn’t 2007 where a young Lebron dragged a team with Delonte West as his second best player.
Analytically, the series is tied. /s
you’re right, but the likelihood of a 3-1 comeback is slim. the only team to pull it off in the Finals is Lebron with the Cavs at the Warriors. then there is the fact that their stamina drain chokes them the second half of the game.
Warriors also lost Bogut to a leg injury – he routinely provided rim protection for 7-10 mins a game and of course, Green got suspended for G5.
It could absolutely happen, but it’s a big mountain for a young team to climb after blowing a 29 point lead.
Was it greed? You’re up by 27 points at the half, take your foot off the pedal. At least stop shooting threes when your accuracy drops from 70% to 30%. Spurs wanted to humiliate the Knicks and by the end of possibly the worst third quarter they were playing on the back foot.
I know they were down 29, but I did not stop watching. There is just something about these Knicks teams the last few years, you can’t ever count them out. Great game, this one will be talked about for a very long time.
Spurs should invite Trump to their remaining games
Why wasn’t Alvarado called for a backcourt violation? It seemed like he went back right before the timeout was called.
Both feet and the ball must cross over. Alvarado’s feet made it over but not the ball.
This is such a wild rule that I never realized. Big brain by Jose.
OMG. That’s not handball that’s basketball, just learn the rules of basketball.
They explained it over the broadcast but of course no one hears it because it would require watching the game.
Hey some people are hearing impaired!
The most shocking thing about the game yesterday, ignoring the game itself, was that Wembanyama played 44⁄48 minutes. You are leading by 29 points and you make your star player play majority of the game. A better coach would have managed his playtime better. There was no reason for Wemby to play 44 minutes when the team was cruising.
I turn the game off in the 4th quarter what a joke once it became like 97 to 92 how do you choke like that
THAT was when you decided to turn the game off?
Anyone notice the level of play is nowhere near as good as the last 15 previous NBA champions? Except for maybe 2025, all the previous champions blow these two teams out the water
Let me guess - the team you root for won a championship in one of the last 15 championships? Maybe more than 1?
Honestly, I think I hate the way Wemby plays. He’s 7 foot 5, yet he plays like he’s 6 foot 5. At some point, he’s got to make his height and length count for more than just blocking shots, and jacking up 3’s over everyone. I mean it more with blocking shots, because so many times this series, I’ve seen him camp the paint when the ball is 35 feet away from the basket.
What this does, is that when Harper/Castle/Fox put pressure on the point 30+ feet away from the basket, and the Knicks decide to play 5-Out, Wemby is camping the paint with a legitimate 3-pt guy wide open. Whether that’s OG, or KAT, and they keep getting BURNED by it.
He’s like a taller Porzingis. He’s not 7’5”, he’s 5’68”.
The thing is, “the way Wemby plays” is not yet defined, though the Knicks and Wemby have collaborated to define it as a neutered Kevin Durant on offense. There IS someone in there like game 1 WCF, if you saw that. He has a lot of growing to do.
Also roaming the paint as a free safety had got us this far.
Wemby was probably gassed. He/Spurs can’t play how they play the first half. That’s the only reason why they come out ahead in all of these games. They’re sprinting instead of running the marathon.
No one really caught it in the moment, but KAT tipped the inbound play at the end, messing up the Spur’s final shot. Can someone correct me if I’m wrong but because KAT touched the ball (tipped), that’s when the clock should’ve start right? Therefore using up any time for an attempt after? Or does the clock only start after possession.
Good shout. It’s so bang bang hard to call in the moment but yeah technically that’s the rules. Crazy game though.
I had the same thought! Looks like a clear tip on the inbound but the clock doesn’t move. I was like wtf?
i can’t stop scrolling socials today with all the content and reactions from last night game. this is the greatest hate watch of my life
If the Knicks can finish off this series, I can die in peace. Which is great, because I’m not close to dying. So the next few decades would be very low pressure.
watching his post game interview clip and honestly i respect fox for being able to at least appear unfazed by whatever happened. obv he has to keep up the appearances but i hope spurs have a strong enough mental to put it past them for the next one
“I’m in your head” will be the ultimate chokers line now. All that fake monk stuff, all that meditation and this man still can’t hit free throws. Love it
Lol, Robinson is on your team
I love Mitch. We ain’t here without him.
Which makes it hilariously ironic that Wemby missed those 2 FTs.
Actually it makes sugarbad11’s comment hilariously ironic.
Wemby was completely gassed at that point, and that doesn’t change the fact that he choked big time on those free throws.
What? Wemby is the dickhead who was pointing to his head saying “I’m in your head”
He means Robinson has the lowest free throw percentage in the league so you don’t have room to talk
That free throw percentage didn’t matter much when it came down to winning the game now did it? Seemed like Wendy’s dropped to 0% once the pressure got to him
All free throws are worth 1 point each. Robinson shot 0-4 in the game, worse than Wemby.
But who missed when it really mattered the most?
So many thoughts after last night. The spurs have been blowing big leads all playoffs. Thats a coaching issue. Why are the rookie or damn near rookie guards headlining the offense and not your best player? Shouldn’t wemby be getting a touch every possession? Speaking of, why does your 7’5” generational center have a nonexistent postgame? He’s not a good enough jump shooter to be playing like that. People will focus on Fox in the end but he didn’t blow that 29 point lead by himself.
Re: the Wemby post game it’s pretty clear that there are several guys in the league strong enough to box him out and if he doesn’t get called for the contact he’s not efficiently finishing through it.
Well, Wemby in the 2nd half shot 3-14⁄1-3⁄1-4, and a lot of those misses were at the rim.
Just saw the highlights.
I dunno, i was so excited about what happened, but now it’s kinda leaving a sour taste in my mouth.
OG fouled Fox. He had no verticality and hit him on the shoulder before the ball. It’s clear as day.
I’m sorry but fuck that - a foul call there is soft
Kirkland made call after call that favored the Knicks in the 2nd half.
The officiating has been so inconsistent all series that it’s a valid complaint as a viewer, but not as a fan. Without the calls that went against the Knicks early, they’re not down 30.
I think this is the kind of thing that is technically a foul but 99⁄100 times is not being called with 10 seconds left in a playoff game
It’s not unreasonable to be mad about, but you have to be realistic. Fans of the league in general hate nothing more than last second whistles deciding critical games, and I’m not just saying this because I’m a Knicks fan
I don’t think it was the kind of foul that HAS to be called
But it doesn’t decide the game. Knicks still get a possession to try to get a game tying 3 even if fox makes his free throws.
I mean.. finals shouldn’t end with whistles, let em play & there was no one that stopped Fox from taking the available just dribble out the clock option.
If Fox freely chooses to go man on man let’s see who’s better.. I think it’s fair.
Knicks deserve all the credit in the world for winning but if someone had grabbed the shit out of OG on the putback you wouldn’t be saying the game shouldn’t end with a whistle
Absolutely. But if OG was running the wrong direction or something asinine that made no sense when fouled.. I’m not putting up that deep a moral argument in what was a wild game.
Exactly. We want the game to be fair for everyone.
Yeah but the game isn’t fair. That’s the whole thing. The spurs have gotten away w so many non calls it’s ridiculous. Knicks are 3-1 despite facing both the Spurs and the Refs. Give me a break.
lol.
That’s a foul. They call that and Fox makes his free throws Knicks still get to try to get a game tying 3 there. That would be a fair conclusion.
I don’t like the idea that calling the game should be based on vibes.
Every play in slow motion is a foul. This wasn’t a situation he had to drive into him at all or had no options. If someone is doing something that dumb what do you do.. technically right you’d drive yourself nuts in life if ignoring context of situations. He didn’t have to do an anything and would have been awarded the win
I have no idea what you’re trying to say.
It’s a shot at the rim, which is where the referees are most likely to call a whistle, and all you have to do is look at contact during the shot and if the defender is vertical.
We keep telling players to go to the rim and then this sort of thing happens.
I’m a purist. I don’t have a preference who wins here, but I’d like to see the game called fairly.
Mate maybe you’re right. I would assume in this context and history of finals end of games no one could logically assume a whistle.
If youre right, and I’m wrong Refs ignore context.. then that didn’t happen
Yesterday’s game has made me realize that the rise of Curry and Durant may have ruined modern basketball.
Cause of Curry every small guard thinks they dont really have to be a traditional pg or develop any of those skills because as long as they have the range they can jack up 3’s even if they cant get to the rim. And they want to score a lot of points like the sg/sf so screw running an offense.
Cause of Durant every guy over 6’9 with a thin frame wants to be like Durant so they want to jack up jumpshots and 3s with handles and also step back 3s. Screw developing any sort of low post game whatsoever or playing in the paint because since you’re just taller than everybody else, no one can block your jumpshot so keep shooting oh and start your game from the perimeter. Thats exactly what Fox and Wemby were doing last night
What all these players now and all these young players growing up keep forgetting is there’s only one Curry and one Durant. These guys are generational players who are two of the absolute greatest shooters of all time. To go further back this may have even started with Iverson’s rise too cause he was also a small guard who jacked up a lot of shots but at least guys realized they couldnt be like Iverson because of his unreal athleticism.
Don’t think it will change since those players beat the rest of the NBA and younger players just emulate winners.
And I get Kareem’s career is a long long time ago and the move is not sexy, not flashy or highlight worthy but there’s no reason Wemby couldnt master the skyhook and become utterly unstoppable with it
You’re so right and it goes further with how little sense the move away from the aggressive paint-running big man makes. Giannis is an MVP-caliber player, if he wasn’t on the Bucks he might have another MVP last or this year, and yet tall players act like being passive and good on defence is enough. I genuinely think if Wemby came face to face with Giannis in a playoff series (possibly next season if he gets traded), Giannis will obliterate him.
OG Anunoby literally saved my life
Do The Right Thing on TCM at 8 pm tonight, if you need some appropriate off night viewing.
This is a “Where were you when…?” moment
I’m still so sick about this. I damn near want to fake a sick day. Fuck!
Would it even be fake?
Thunder lost the series but at least the Spurs gave us the best hatewatch of all time so we could still enjoy the Finals
I picked a bad night to turn it off in the 3rd quarter. In my defense, the Knicks just missed like 4 shots in a row and I was sleepy
So many people at my job went to be at halftime. Im glad I stayed up to watch this game. I still can’t believe it happened.
Politicians stole the Knicks swagger. Wu Tang gave it back.
Game 3 had DJ Khaled, Trump and Jay-Z in the building with Cardi B at halftime.
Game 4 had Nas, Taylor Swift, and Wu as the halftime show. Vibes are real
Get Taylor Swift out of this lineup dawg
I dont listen to any of Taylor Swift’s music or care about her fandom but I’ll take her any day of the week over the clown prez, and the phony fake and soft DJ. I’m cool with Jay(even though he’s got some phony in him too. ex BKN Nets, and his views on capitalism).
The other 2 you mentioned have a fundamental link to New York and are from New York, were born in and shaped the culture, meanwhile Taylor Swift is not from New York and does not represent the towns.
Cardi B is an outspoken political activist who sat down with Bernie Sanders, made public democratic endorsements, has advocated for racial justice, women’s rights and the youth vote, as well as calling out the Epstein circle. She’s also a New Yorker in every way. If you’re saying she’s “fake” because of plastic surgery despite her actual character overwhelmingly being linked to national and grassroots activism, I’m just gonna assume you’re misogynistic because there’s no way a decent person sees a woman with plastic surgery or a loud personality as more determining of fakeness than their actual activism and character.
For the record I do not agree with absolutely everything Cardi B says, but she clearly has some level of positive intention which is not only self serving.
I phrased it wrong. Khaled is phony, fake and a DJ. No problem with Cardi but I personally would’ve wanted a Nas, Rakim, EPMD, or even an MC Lyte or Foxy or Kim for halftime. Dont really think of NY hip-hop when I think of Cardi or Nicki even though obviously they’re both born and raised there and claim NY
one of these is not like the other
Wemby needs to stop playing like a sg and start backing mfs down. He needs to come back looking like Giannis, or he will never win a ring
I’m mad as fuck like I play for the spurs
I’m not even a spurs fan and went to bed unable to not think about all the dumb what ifs the spurs made at the end there. 2013 ray Allen shot level of what ifs
Will this be referred to as “the tip in game”?
I will never think of it again, never happened like entire 26 season
“The comeback”.
I’ve seen people saying the Miracle at the Garden which I think is fitting
What mattered more - the 3 missed ftas from Wemby, or Fox not using up clock while up 1 pt with 11 seconds left and getting blocked on a layup instead?
Missed FT is a choke but it’s part of the game. Fox decision was terrible. Even if he made the layup it was the wrong decision. Burning clock is the correct decision 100% of the time.
I agree.
They’re both terrible, but only one of them is going to end up on another team next year. Fox’s play this series (and a good chunk of last series) is going to land him someplace else. The Spurs have a traffic jam at guard, and taking that shot with 11 seconds left is enough to clear some traffic.
I don’t see how that’s going to be easy though. 230 million over the next 4 years is a lot, and he hasn’t helped his stock lately
He’s a good player on the right team for sure and people are too down on him, but the only way to make this contract work is to be a team like the Spurs, where all your best players are incredibly cheap for most of this contract
Are there any other semi-contending teams who need a veteran presence and have very young/cheap cores? Maybe if the Jazz rebound goes well?
I think they will try to dump him and get a semi decent 4. Its pretty clear that fox is taking way too many minutes away from Harper.
Hush you, I’m irrationally coping! You don’t get to win the finals and tell people to use common sense, pick a lane.
(seriously though, as a Spurs fan living in the northeast I’ve been watching the Knicks since I was a kid, and setting aside my current feelings about the series I’m happy for you guys. JFC the Knicks fans in my office are crushing me today though. Should have stayed home.)
Given some recent behavior from “fans” lately I’m gonna hope that that office comment is metaphorical
In seriousness I think the Spurs will be back. IMO sign Lebron and they’ll be back next year it seems like literally the perfect fit for both sides (though that does require Lebron’s consent lol)
Nah, I’m far enough from the city where the Knicks fans just pop by my office and ask how I slept last night, stuff like that.
Honest question…is it safer for NYC as a whole for the Knicks to win at home or on the road at this point? I worry ya’ll are going to burn it all down either way.
Oh we’ll be fine
None of us real people actually live in midtown anyway. It’s only the crazy rich ones. I’m sure they’ll have security.
My family is 10 miles from MSG, which while that’s only 10-15 minutes in normal human places it’s 90 minutes in NYC distance
It wasn’t just the last 19 seconds. Fox was trying to do everything himself the half the qtr and just straight up playing horribly. He should’ve slowed the game down waaay before. They didn’t run an actual play at all it was racing to their half and shooting.
I have to agree - Fox was really bad in the 2nd half, 5 pts on 2-8 with 1 ast and 4 TOs.
So much for veteran leadership
Definitely Fox. It’s so much easier to just dribble and run the clock or get fouled than making those two fts (which is also not very hard)
If Wemby made those throws it wouldn’t have mattered whatever Fox chose to do
Shout out to the OG (no not that one) Tommy Thibs. We wouldn’t be here without you.
I’m still shocked from yesterday. How many comebacks we had these finals!?
Spurs have led every single game in this series by double digits and are down 1-3. Just some unbelievably consistent choking going on
Young guys + coach who doesn’t seem interested in slowing them down and you know, coaching, when they need it will do that. (The Knicks are also playing absolutely fantastic basketball…I’m taking nothing away form that, they absolutely deserve to be where they are in the series)
My current coping mechanism is that this was what the team needed to galvanize into a truly great team and win 70 and the title next year, but we might need a different coach to do that.
This Knicks squad has repeatedly made major comebacks the past few postseasons. Like… (5) 20+ pt comebacks. Spurs definitely choked but it’s just as much the mental toughness of these Knicks
Yes Knicks are relentless. They go on these outrageous runs where it seems like everything goes right for them over an ~8 minute stretch. It’s why i never think a game is over when there’s still a quarter plus left with them
They should try just only leading by single digits. Is Mitch Johnson stupid? How have coaches not realized this?
Can’t wait to see how the spurs cheat their way into another win. Maybe the air conditioning will “malfunction” again
Also, Mitchell Robinson needs to be traded ASAP
I think this is a lack of appreciation for what he’s done over time. Dude is also pretty obviously hurt.
Tell me this - swap Mitch and Kornet, what’s the score in this series rn? For a backup he’s very good.
And he is a FA now. You are correct that overpaying him near starter money would be a brutal mistake. But I’d like him back if the value is there
I love my Mitch
He’s clearly hurt and out of it, he’s been atrocious — can’t slow down wemby on defense and no presence on offense. Hopefully he can get better physically and mentally.
Pretty sure he’s on an expiring contract at the moment
I know he’s not a good FT shooter, but dayam, that’s extreme
He also can’t play more than 3 minutes without running out of energy. Amazingly, Brown knows it and never gives him more than those small chunks of playing time.
The City that never sleeps, is pretty tired though
What a game
I cannot believe De’Aaron Fox and his family have generational wealth
The funniest comment I have seen is that he needs to be investigated for gambling
There was that rug pull with the NFTs a few years back
Congrats knicks. You’ve either just solidified the championship or lit the fire under under the spurs that wemby and castle have needed.
Either way. Next game is going to be amazing lol
How many fires do they need? At this point is a natural disaster
People keep saying this was a Spurs collapse and I just don’t agree with that. Sure, Wemby missed the 2 free throws and Fox had a brain fart… but the Spurs mostly did what they should have been doing and kept their composure during the majority of the Knick’s run.
Spurs were the victims of their own success in the first half. They were shooting unbelievable percentages from the floor - 67%(?) from the floor, more than 50% from 3??? 100% free throws (with calls going their way the entire game).
Spurs peaked extremely early in the game. They were super-powered; then shooting percentages normalized and the team became human allowing the grit of the Knicks to chip away at the lead when there was still a metric ton of game left to be played.
The super-serum wore off at the worst time and they became victims of their own success in the first half.
The historic collapse would be the Knicks losing at home and losing this series.
Terrible take to the point where I assume you don’t watch much basketball or you’re just ragebaiting. The Spurs played the dumbest half I’ve seen in a really long time last night, shooting early in the clock, not running plays and refusing to go into the paint, and a really questionable timeout strategy.
The Knicks played well in the second half, let’s not ignore that. But if the Spurs played even a modicum of smart basketball, there wouldn’t have been time for NY to win the game. Once the Knicks were running downhill and the crowd was going bonkers, the Spurs needed coaching that just didn’t happen. Instead, we had a bunch of young kids running around like Muppets flailing their arms and turning the ball over.
Just use the clock. Spurs did this in the conference finals too. It’s coaching, I don’t know why you’re downvoted
When you are up 30 at the half and lose, that is a collapse buddy. You could just play average or kinda bad basketball from that point on and still have enough to outpace a comeback. They had so many opportunities late even to secure the win and couldn’t.
Normalized to what? Their regular season averages?
Last night, their 3P% was still higher than their overall season average. The issue is that they shot 44.2% on 43 2PAs compared to the regular season of 57.4% on 52 2PAs. (Adjusting for their average FGAs we should’ve expected closer to 50 2PAs.) They shot so poorly in the second half that they ended up way below their averages… that’s a collapse
The team could be called San Antonio Skittles with Bron, Wemby, and Curry. It doesn’t matter when any team is up by almost 30 and you end up losing by 1.
It’s a fucking collapse.
When I say “This wasn’t a Spurs collapse” what I’m really saying here isn’t that this isn’t a Spurs collapse “primarily”.
That should be obvious and isn’t an unreasonable take at all.
It is not obvious and it’s a completely unreasonable and delusional take.
Dude, they blew a 29 point lead. Of course it was a collapse.
Yeah that was worse than 28-3
😂 you tried though
No shot
not gonna lie, I was in the group of people who felt like it was too early for Wemby, that he still hadn’t even struggled in the league to make a ring feel ‘earned’
this definitely checks that box tho lol, if he comes back to the top after this (not necessarily this series, like, next year or something) there’ll be no more talking from me
My current mechanism is that this is the moment where the Spurs become amazing, and they win the next 3, averaging 70 wins a season.
Otherwise…fuck…this just sucks.
It’s tough when you understand this type of opportunity can’t be taken for granted, one injury or something and even Wemby’s insane potential isn’t guaranteed to come to fruition
On the other hand tho, if there is one team in NBA history that can claim they are still very young and will be back stronger it would be this Spurs team lol, Wemby being 22 is crazy because it’s straight up “wait should he even be here already” territory
Spurs are my #2 team. I have had enough of the fucking Knicks for a lifetime
Mitch Johnson may not be the answer. He’s a fine schemer, but he has zero ability to adjust on the fly or coach with a lead. Sounds like another coach I know
I assume the downvotes are for the bandwagon #2 team comment, because you’re spot on about Mitch.
When the Knicks started running downhill in the third, and the building was crazy, he needed to step in and coach. Make adjustments, stop shooting 3’s again and again and start eating some clock, get into the paint…this isn’t that crazy a thought process and he just whiffed on doing anything to stabilize the bleeding.
I was so happy to hear Chuck absolutely go off on how dumb the basketball that got played was, and how terrible Fox’s decision-making was at the end. We need a change at coach.
I would have rather he burn all of our timeouts before the last two minutes trying to stop the bleeding. He basically played the timeouts as if we were guaranteed to blow the lead and need them in the last two minutes. Which we did, but it didn’t do us any good.
Mitch Johnson is not it , his offense is terrible when players don’t shoot well , it’s in coach to draw a play and his play was shoot more 3s
That’s how I felt last year (I’m a pacers fan)
My brother in christ, your team beat us in the last 2 prior playoffs. WE SHOULD BE SAYING THIS ABOUT YOUR TEAM
Your fan base is just insufferable 😭
Every fanbase is when you interact with them enough. We’ve all got good and bad ones
We all know the Knicks won bc of Wu-Tang. Wu-Tang Forever
Lifted the curse!
“Got with the New York Knicks and went all out!”
The Ray Allen shot has been dethroned.
Spurs are the victims of two of the greatest plays in NBA history.
Mitch Johnson actually the perfect mix of terrible coaches. Awful minutes management for his stars like Thibs, watches his team collapse without using timeouts like Darvin Ham, and goes all in and starts his veteran PG even though he doesn’t deserve it like Finch
He’s the fucking megazord of shitty coaching rangers.
That loss is mostly on him. Guys were begging for a reset timeout midway through the fourth. Every possession was just a desperation shot to stop the bleeding. No screens, no action, nothing to get his guys to regain their composure. Truly one of the worst coaching jobs I’ve seen. Like Doc Rivers kinda shit.
At what point do we say Mitch Johnson is buns because there appears to be a pattern emerging of terrible coaching decisions
A lot of Spurs fans have been quietly critical of him despite the team’s success. It’s felt at time s that they were succeeding in spite of him, rather than because of him and that’s just been more magnified during this playoff run.
He was hiding behind some calls , lights out shooting of his player and their talent , when the moment was in his hands as a coach he failed historically and managed to choke 30 pts lead at half time to lose championship ( ain’t no comeback from this loss ) no adjustments , no time outs , no some drawn plays to get the team going , nothing
Yeah that and then the continual refusal to player their shit hot rookie Carter in clutch time, the weird desire to not use Wemby in the paint in the clutch time must score inbound plays, just all around bad choices
Rewatching. god wanted the knicks to win tonight bro, so many lucky bounces
This wasn’t Knicks v Spurs, it was divinity v umpires.
Shout out my Neigbor Linda who said she would pray for the Knicks. The big guy heard her.
During the first half, my fiancée told me to leave the cleaning til tomorrow, but I was getting ornery cause I needed to clean up the dishes, unload the dishwasher, take out the trash and fold laundry. I hate having a messy place. I did all that during half time. Never again
Whoever put this game down after the 30 point deficit has no heart ♥️
Dude I had work at 5 am. Do you know how pissed I was when I checked the score this morning. Missed an awesome game.
